meh, droppped to 63% from 80 after about another 3 hrs. granted i left data on all day but its a pretty significant drop, ill prolly try either vision again or genocide with some undervolting to get it back close to what i had before. very happy with the rom itself so far, not a single issue yet and it fixed the problem i was having with nobody being able to hear me. no idea what was causing that with every other rom, but its fixed now. again, damn fine job paul.

Genocide with undervolting is unrivaled on EC05 IMO..

My music player decided to close itself when my battery hit 10%- I thought the patch killed this behavior? I know it used to cut off at 25%, so this is still better. MUIU music player doesnt have this issue, so ill prolly flash that. The camera still worked though, so perhaps its another step they have to try and save battery.

Other than that, this ROM has been fantastic. Best batt life ever and perfectly stable. Been running since I first mentioned installing in this thread (about a week or longer) and havent had a single freeze. Fantastic work paul..

Does anyone else have a problem with gallery sensor usage?

I remember having this bug a while back with one of the stock roms, but I believe it was fixed in EC05.

the bug is that if you go into the stock gallery app, where you can tilt the phone and and see the thumbnails tilt, the sensor remains in use thereafter. In spare parts, under sensor usage, the gallery app has a huge usage. It keeps sucking down the battery.

Related, I've installed quick pic as a workaround, but does anyone know how to link it to the camera app? In the camera app, there is a little button that jumps straight to the gallery. To workaround the sensor bug, I'd like for this button to launch quick pic, instead of the stock gallery.

I just removed the stock gallery using Titanium Backup (Free version). Then the camera opens quick pic straight away..

Battery life is so inconsistant it seems no matter what ROM your running. One day you can be fine and next day it drops like a rock. I really don't know what the reasons are behind it but it just happens that way. I am probably the last one to tweak things, I set it and forget it with my kernels normally and from day to day my usage is about the same routine but battery life varies... It doesn't matter if I'm running ACE, SRF, midNIGHT, Bonsai or any other ROMs in now or in the past. I think alot has to do with signals and their draw variances from time to time.. Some days your WI FI is great at your home but your ISP is putting out a poor signal causing your phone to go slower and work harder it seems. Other days its the exact reversal. Same seems to go for 3g/4g.

Guess its just something you have to live with.

Glad your enjoying the ROM. I think I'm going to just sit back and wait things out for official GB like everyone else.

Music player/camera/video recorder are all provided by k0nane of ACS so whatever he has set for cutoff. I was under the impression it was completely removed.

Yeah i know, i havenever seen such goofy inconsistent battery life with any device of any kind until i got this phone. And realistically going home from work with over 60% life left is pretty decent so im not exactly complaining, just would like to see if i can get a bit more in case i cant charge it before i leave for the day. I agree with you on the GB thing, I think were close enough to its release that theres no sense reflashing again until then.

Yeah, me too.. I tried reopening music player and it said "Music Player will be closed to save battery life" (or something to that effect). The camera however DID work.. No biggie- it was at the end of my workout ;)

Dont usually dip the battery that low. I do agree this device is very inconsistent in terms of battery life predictability. Sometimes my battery percentage will stay the same for 2 hours and other times it plummets. Still, the battery life is now exceptional, so no complaints really..

oh yeah i did forget to mention, for some reason launcher pro just WILL NOT get along with my phone. no matter the rom it always gives me tons of issues, this time was no exception. I went back to go launcher ex (which i like better anyway) and not a single problem. the last couple updates to go launcher really seemed to get the stability nailed down. launcher pro always has a lot of little issues for me, like not having wallpapers show up, and random freezes.

Thats really really REALLY weird.. Funny how some devices have their own little quirks. Mines had no issue with Launcher Pro..

Yes I remember issues in the past with LP.

I've been running ACE 2.0 for a couple of weeks now. I 've noticed a considerable battery improvement. However I've also noticed that when I roam now my phne always switches to 1x data. My parents live near, what I'm assuming is a Verizon tower and with ACE v1.7 I roam at 3G. With ACE v2.0 I roam at 1x in the same spot. I've also tried using Genocide 1.0 on ACE 2.0 to see if it was the kernel. I got the same 1x results with Genocide on ACE 2.0. Any ideas what might be causing this behavior? Thanks for your effort on this rom by the way.

I dont think 1.7 had the 1x\3g indicator fixed, which means u were always on 1x but the phone still said 3g. Stock does the same thing, it was a bug from samsung that newer roms fix.

Samsung must slipstream all kinds of hardware changes on a regular basis. I used the Viper ROM for a while. It was okay, except that it had a really strange quirk. If I started the camera with the camera button, I couldn't get back to the launcher. I'd have to pull the battery. But if I started the camera with the launcher icon, I could get back fine. It's probably a quirk unique to my hardware.

In fact, that bug is why I tried out ACE again (I used an older version before). I'm really glad I did. Great ROM so far.

IDK if anyone can help me w/this, but so far the ROM is really stable. My issue is that the damn phone won't cut off. I hold down the power button and it freezes, I get a few quick short vibrates, then it proceeds to reboot. No prompts or anything. The only way to cut it off is to do a battery pull.

I don't think this is normal. It has happened since I installed the ROM.

The first time I flashed the ROM, I did the 4-button hold for a quick reboot into CWM3 (as guided in the youtube video), & that didn't work at all. I got so many FCs. So I wiped again and reflashed the ROM and it has been stable w/the exception of the Power button.

Any thoughts????

Try flashing one of the other kernals = Paul has mentioned that in the past already = I had to use earlier version of Twilight Zone on my phone also.

I've heard of a few people with this issue on ACE and even on other ROMs. Not sure what causes it. I had it once when I flashed SRF and if I remember correctly I Odin back to EB13 and rooted again and reflashed and it never happened again.

BTW, we do have the EC05 stock Odin tar available now in the How To Factory Restore sticky, just incase.

Thanks Paul & Texas. The other problem that I've had is problems w/my Google calender not syncing. Its not specific to this ROM. I've been fiddling w/it & it syncs when I put an appt on PC, but doesn't sync when I put an appt on phone. I wiped caches 3x, FC all calendar apps. Its not specific to 3rd party aapps either. I've tried 2 create an appt n android calendar & was unsuccessful.
Any help is appreciated.

UPDATE** Odined back to EC05, then reflashed ACE. So far no FCs. keeping my fingers crossed. 1 thing that I did was did a back up once I Odined EC05 in the event that I have future problems, hopefully I won't have to use Odin to go back to basics.

Just a qucik word of thanks

I was an Ace V1.7 user for a while and really liked it a lot. Moved on to a few other Roms after EC05 and experimented to try and stretch battery life. All of the Roms I tried generally ran fine (a few odd glitches at times),but I yearned for the stability of Ace V1.7. I would have just switched back, but I have this hang up with the CIQ. When I saw Ace V2.0 with CIQ removed and journaling enabled, I did a quick flash and was happy. I then started to try a few kernels, thinking I might find the right mix and get that week long battery. No mater the kernel for me, I had random problems. Frequent force closes, random reboot of the phone and numerous freezes. Back to Ace 2.0 with Twilight kernel and the phone seems rock solid. Battery life is fine, I have had numerous 2 day battery lifes, but always make a full day with ease.

OK, maybe that wasn't such a quick work of thanks, but I said all that to express my thanks to all those out there that are working on these great Roms and kernels, but a special thanks to Paul627g for this Rom. It has been my favorite and most stable in all its iterations. Keep up the great work. Another satisfied ACE user.
