Would you like to see the CIQ Removal in the next release of ACE?

I love this ROM. Really nice and stable. And I can FINALLY listen to Internet radio (TuneIn Radio Pro) at work without it losing the connection every 5 minutes. I don't know why this ROM makes that possible - maybe it's the elimination of the CIQ overhead. But I'm loving it.

How are you guys getting such great battery life?! im running ACE 2.0 with genocide kernel and my battery might last 8 hours, if im lucky.

Give a description of what your doing ? I normally was getting in the neighborhood of 12 hours on average, most times a lot more using Twilight Zone v1.1.0 or Vision Kernel v1.1 running ACE v2.0

That was with about 2 hrs or so of screen on time, around 30mins-1 hr of talk time, dozens of texts, hour a day of Angry Birds, good amount of web surfing and running wi fi most of the time.

Not that my usage is typical but I would expect most users to get at least 10-12 hours plus from the ROM with any kernel using the undervolt settings. Have you ever recalibrated your battery after flashing ACE? I normally don't but some people that have battery issues have done this and it has improved battery life.

Well I honestly have the same usage you do Paul except I stream Pandora often when I'm at work. I would like to use twilight or vision but i had issues with them. I'm not sure what to do... I think i'm losing like 5-6+ % per hour.

How do I go about recalibrating my battery?

If I remember correctly you charge your device to full, then boot into CWM and wipe your battery stats.

Edit: In addtion to a full charge then boot into CWM and wipe your battery stats, then run down your phone until it just about dies and it should be calibrated. No plugging/charging until it just about dies out.

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmm ok, I've done that a couple times lol. I'll try again. Also how does Twilight run on ACE 2.0?

Seems fine, I was getting a few lockups when using Dolphin Browser Mini which was aggravating me and I switched to Vision Kernel v1.1 which solved most of it but still got the occasional lockup. Then I finally switched to Twilight Zone v1.0.4 and it was rock solid for a few days up until I flashed Bonsai beta this morning.

Headache

I see the overall success of this rom, and can't help be feel jealous. I've tried both option 1, and option 2, without any success.

Option 1, the phone freezes during boot, the little android coin spins and stops after about 3 minutes. While writing this, I have let it sit for about 15 minutes now.

Option 2, this will actually get the rom to load, but then it will freeze randomly upon actions such as trying to launch the market. Or launching contacts. Or pretty much any other application..

I'm not sure what I could be doing wrong, as the instructions seem pretty clear. For option 1, I used Odin to full wipe using "EC05_DXC.tar.md5" Then I ran the oneclickrootCWM3-EB13, let it finish. Phone boots, I let it finish doing its thing, and shut it down. Hold volume down + shutter + power, cwm converts to ext 4. I wipe 3 times (factory) and clear cache 3 times. Then I install zip from flash card (ACE ROM v2.0 Journ..). And then I'm where I am now, looking at a frozen android coin.

I've tried frozen syndicate, but it too just freezes at bootup. This leads me to believe I'm goofing up somewhere, but I'm clueless, any help?

Try this thread, use the EC05 Odin tar from there (procedure #1). Its bone stock factory Froyo EC05.
[How to] Factory Restore (or Fix a Bricked Phone)

After you complete the Odin process with that, then run the OneClickRoot for EXT4 conversion package and try it again. I think you will have better success.

I think there is a problem using the prerooted Odin RFS/EC05 version and converting to EXT4 due to it being an ODEX version of Froyo EC05.

Report back with your results, we will get you going.

Battery life is so inconsistant it seems no matter what ROM your running. One day you can be fine and next day it drops like a rock. I really don't know what the reasons are behind it but it just happens that way. I am probably the last one to tweak things, I set it and forget it with my kernels normally and from day to day my usage is about the same routine but battery life varies... It doesn't matter if I'm running ACE, SRF, midNIGHT, Bonsai or any other ROMs in now or in the past. I think alot has to do with signals and their draw variances from time to time.. Some days your WI FI is great at your home but your ISP is putting out a poor signal causing your phone to go slower and work harder it seems. Other days its the exact reversal. Same seems to go for 3g/4g.

Guess its just something you have to live with.

Glad your enjoying the ROM. I think I'm going to just sit back and wait things out for official GB like everyone else.

Exactly my situation. One (rare) day I can have excellent battery life, 3 hours display time, etc. Another day it drains battery like crazy when I'm not even using it, <1 hour display time. And this is everything else being equal - wifi on and connected most of the time in the same location (office).

Another thing I've noticed in EC05 is that wifi seems to make up a larger proportion of battery usage. On DI18, EB13, I would have wifi sleep set to never, and battery would be fine - since most of the day I was connected to the wifi router. But ever since EC05, this doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

The old wisdom was that if you were connected to wifi, the sleep policy should be set to never, since using 3g for data required more power. But something has definitely changed in EC05, and I'm wondering what other people are setting for their wifi sleep policy now.

I tried Twilight 1.0.4 and Genocyde and both seem very stable. The kernel packed into ACE 2.0 froze constantly. Most of the time it wouldn't even finish booting.

Would also like to have some advisement on this issue.. I saw a posting where Konane advised not to mess with the sleep setting in "Spare parts" as it's already set to never in the ROM, and may lead to transition lag when opening apps and browser in some devices if not left alnone. Do we keep the current settings> of never sleep for Wifi or will this change in EC05. Thanks!

Well honestly prior to your post I had downloaded geno kernel and use cwm to install it, and now it works wonderfully. I saw on the first post that some kernels do not play nice across the board and to try others, and I had read the name genocyde a few times, so I gave it a shot. Since the phone is bone dry anyway, I will give what you suggested a shot and will post my experience.

has anyone had any issues with the led "message" light running ACE 2.0? mine kinda seems to work when it feels like it. sometimes it will blink until i check the message, sometimes it will blink once or twice and go out, sometimes it won't blink at all. it's not a huge deal as this is like the only problem i've had since flashing this rom, but i do rely on the light to tell me when i have a message, so there are times where i will go an hour or so before i know i received a message. has anyone else had this problem or know of a quick fix off hand?

Never really paid much attention to this with the LED "message received" light. This could be a bug of EC05, I don't believe any modifications that I or anything I used from other sources would have impacted the led and its functions.
