My phone has been going black (looks like it's off) now on the 2nd day of this ROM. A battery pull is all that will reset it so that I can press the power button to turn it back on. It will not reset or turn on prior to the battery pull. I did get an error message about this Kernel when starting an app at one time that indicated that the app could not run because the Kernel did not support IPv6, which was odd, but that was only one time after a reboot.

Note taken, I will keep a eye out for this. Before my recent flashing to try the new Bonsai ROM I ran ACE v1.7 for about 5 or 6 days straight without a single issue. That included numerous flashing of different things, testing stuff, etc. and no issues at all.

- You should not have to change/include the underscores. It should flash as is.

- Have you successfully flashed any other ROMs since converting to EB13 CWM3.0.0.6/EXT4?

- Possible that your sdcard has something wrong, bad sectors, etc. ? I have had to error check mine before and fix a bug or two after pulling the cable without properly disconnecting from my laptop.

Not pointing fingers at you but after well over 700 downloads of ACE v1.7 I believe this is only the 2nd or 3rd problem involving flashing the ROM. Any other information you can provide, please do.

Yes, I have flashed other ROMs: SuperNova1-1.6_DK28.zip, TrulyEpic_Rebirth_v1.2.zip, and Bonsai4All_Leafless_v2.0.1.zip. I had trouble with ViperROM_FRoZeN_EXT4-RFS_Dual_DK28_4.zip; though, this has been over a month ago. I have been running with SuperNova for three weeks, and was hoping to get a ROM to fix the GPS issues...

So for more information; I might have a bad sector, as I connect to a PC, an Ubuntu netbook, and a Macbook frequently. (I am pretty careful to go through the USB tethering/untethering sequence, but I get the same tethering response when I hook up one of my chargers...)

The script goes:
Formatting system...
Unpacking system files...

Placing ACE ROM extras on sdcard...

Flushing dalvik-cache...
Creating symlinks and permissions...
Updating your modem...
script aborted (no error message)E:Error in /sdcard/ACE_Rom_1.7.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

I will research how to do an sdcard error check...

UPDATE: Now I see that I am in ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.0.5...

Paul627g,

I stand corrected, belay my last and all that. I just toggled to "reboot now" and the ROM is working.(!) I look forward to the new features, and thanks again for all the help!

Congrats to yourself for resolving the issue! Sometimes as crazy as it sounds a little push to retrace your steps will help you resolve your own problem as you did.. Good job!

BTW, I am aware that people have successfully ran Froyo EB13 based ROMs using the leaked Froyo DK28 and CWM 3.0.0.5, but I do recommend switching to Froyo EB13 and CWM 3.0.0.6 if you continue to stay on Froyo EB13 ROMs. They are obviously very close in structure but just to prevent any future conflicts I would consider changing when you have the time to do so.

Welcome to ACE ROM, enjoy!

I have been running Ace v1.7 since the day it was posted on here. Loved the rom and my phone has been problem free until yesterday. Yesterday was the first time I allowed my battery to discharge below about 20%. Not sure exactly how low it got, but I experienced the all black screen as well. My notification light was blinking red, but no mater what I tried the phone stayed completely black. I tried plugging it into a charger and let it sit for 1/2 hour and still nothing. The only remedy I could find was a battery pull. Working great again. Not sure what caused it, but seemed to coincide with a low battery.
The only other issue I have seen is twice now the phone has just rebooted when an app has seemed to hang. I wasn't paying close enough attention to remember if it was the same app as the times were a couple of days apart.

Great work on this rom, many thanks.

Thanks for the comments, I will try and recreate the situation myself by allowing the battery to run down tonight and see what happens. Could be the kernel, ROM, not sure.. As far as your other issue on the reboot on app lockups, that would probably be a EB13 related bug. Glad its only an occasional thing at this point.

Thanks for the feedback, it does help to get these things out into the open.

I feel like whenever I odin to EB13 the data connectivity, including browsing and downloading apps works just fine, but once I flash stock EB13 deodexed the data kinda goes to crap and now its on and off...

I really don't have an answer at this point. I haven't had any difference in data connectivity between Eclair/Froyo DK28 and now official Froyo EB13. They all work as expected.

I will keep my eyes open if I see this discussed anywhere else with some answers.

Just for information purposes, while running the ACE, I've twice let my battery discharge completely (to where the phone will not reboot without plugging in), and have not experienced any problems. I was actively using the phone during the battery drain.

Ok well i'll see what happens and be sure to report anything concerning it, but thanks for responding Paul and another thanks for the fantastic rom!

adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media

That is what I used for frankenstein and bonsai. But on Ace and Frozen, neither will let me push it. It spits an error that I do not have permission to access or change this directory.

And in Astro system/media is where the bootanimation is so I am not sure why it won't let me on just those 2 roms.

You could also use Root Explorer (paid) or ES File Explorer aka Estrongs (free) to copy bootanimation.zip from your SD card to /system/media - that's what I do, very easy and no need for a computer or USB cable.

Paul. Wanted to report an issue while running ACE (unless I missed the fix).

Opening and closing the keyboard (toggling between landscape and portrait) while on a home screen creates a significant lag (over 10 sec.) while the screen reloads in the correct orientation. All the app icons disappear while the screen reloads. I can shorten the time a little by hitting the home button repeatedly. This lag does not occur while running any apps - auto-rotation is very speedy in the apps (I've done the screen rotation lag fix listed in your posts). The problem is with the home screens.

Have I screwed up a UI setting? Or is this a known issue in ACE or EB14? Thanks.

First, have you changed the Launcher? AMLauncher doesn't usually give this problem after the Rotation Lag fix from the OP.

Second, goto Spare Parts in your app list. Select "Fast" on Window Animations and Window Transitions.

That should help speed things up a bit too.. I'm sitting here now open/closing rapidly my keyboard on portrait and landscape mode in the homescreen and icons disappear for a second at best.

I did notice also that when the phone as about 20-30% was actually dead. I wonder if the battery meter is not calibrated for some reason with this Kernel/ROM. At any rate, even with over 50% charge (and only being on for about 4-5hrs without much use), it happened again. When I did the battery pull and plugged it in the green charging battery showed just under half charged, so it's not a low battery issue that's causing the freezing-up requiring the battery pull. I think I'll wipe it all again and reload and see if it becomes stable again.

Still using AMLauncher from the original install of ACE. Had "fast" setting for both Window Animations and Window Transitions.

Still get this curiously long lag. Sorry
