A day and a half ago, I didn't know the first thing about rooting my phone. After reading this thread and the other sticked thread about deodexed eb13and converting rsf to ext4, I finally was able to flash ACE 1.7 on my phone. And I'm sooo happy I did it!! I always thought that roms were not for me, but boy was I wrong. ACE is exactly what I was looking for, and it's a huuuge difference so far.

I never had dk28 or any other rom, so the OTA froyo update was my first glimpse at froyo on the epic. I had so much force closes on the stock froyo that I was wishing i could go back to eclair. But ACE is perfect so far. Keep up the good work!!!

I had an epic do this once i hard reset i dont know how many times odin back to stock tried roms and what not turns out it was a bad motherboard and had to get a new one it started out once in a great while the screen would just go out it got worse and worse until one day the damn thing would not even turn on...

If you phone never did this before you flashed ace then it could be a bad flash i would use a program like my back up pro its like 2.99 or something not that much at all back up with that odin back to eb13 then reroot and flash ace again...

Also the sad fact is not all epics can be under clocked or over clocked most are fine with it but some for what ever reason are a lot more sensitive to this try running at stock one ghz with out under volt (you can do this by using a stock kernel or maybe one that does not have oc or uv...

Hope this info helps

My phone has been going black (looks like it's off) now on the 2nd day of this ROM. A battery pull is all that will reset it so that I can press the power button to turn it back on. It will not reset or turn on prior to the battery pull. I did get an error message about this Kernel when starting an app at one time that indicated that the app could not run because the Kernel did not support IPv6, which was odd, but that was only one time after a reboot.

Sorry i know this is off topic please forgive me...

ya i remember back when i got my first windows mobile phone a palm treo 700wx it was nice for a little while but then i soon got bored with it and was perplexed on why it could not do some of the simplest things. So i started looking on the forums at the time and was shocked at all the mods you could do for about a month i read threads and slowly worked up the courage to start modding once i started i could not stop lol i mod every thing i own seems like...

Started off with windows mobile got sick of it whet over to palm stuck with them for a while then came over to android for a while. I got so good at this stuff I added wifi to the sprint palm pixi turned my palm pre in to a sprint pre plus also modded my epic to work with the palm touchstone thats just some of the things i have done i wont even get in to what i did to my notebook lol

Welcome to the wonderful world of Modding

Got ACE up and running a couplehours after getting my phone :). Absolutely love it, went without a hitch. One question though, do I need to keep the Superuser application on there? I prefer to have the minimum number of programs running, but Superuser keeps restarting itself, and won't let me uninstall.

Also, how do I get rid of the Sprint Navigation app since I have zero use for it? Won't let me uninstall that either.

Thanks for all the help.. I got it... I accidentally overwrote the Ace ROM with the Stock EB13. Re-flashed ACE and I'm good now. Thanks again.

SuperUser is part of your root access, you need to keep that application.

Sprint Navigation can be removed by going to the Stickey in this section List stock apps and their .apk for removal, download sdk program and remove the .apk for it.

That was my initial thought if it's not from the ROM/Kernel itself. I had the same issue underclocking a Palm Pre. Some will allow it and some won't. I've gone back to the dual-fs kernel, so I'll see how that goes. So far, so good for a day.

EDIT: guess I spoke too soon. Had to do a battery pull again. Seems to be related to phone calls. It happens a little while after I've talked on the phone and it goes to sleep.

I got the sdk program but have no idea what to do with it to remove the stock Sprint programs.

Ah nevermind, I didn't realize I had to download the SDX app remover directly through the phone's browser I was trying to install it from my computer onto the phone.

Just for information purposes, while running the ACE, I've twice let my battery discharge completely (to where the phone will not reboot without plugging in), and have not experienced any problems. I was actively using the phone during the battery drain.

Just a quick note, when my phone locked up and went black, it was not being used. It was sitting on the desk next to me and the screen had gone to sleep. I have not let the battery drain again to see it the problem repeats. Maybe just a random eb13 bug.

@paul i saw you updated the first op 3/9/11 i downloaded the zip thinking you added something but im guessing you didn't since the name stood the same and from what i was reading during that time fram noone has posted anything.... when i did zip it and tried to restore my ap/data from my backup app , it stated that i could only use it on the same device, If i wanted to be able to use my backup i needed to buy PRO... but when i went into a older backup using the same app i was able to install a app from that backup...

I just installed the rom for the first time and only noted one problem so far. If the phone locks while the keyboard is out, if you go to unlock it there is a graphical error with the unlock slider. It functions properly just displays wierd.

Truly epic rebirth did the same thing, don't remember why though

Anyone else getting absolute abysmal Quandrant scores? On TER EB13 w/ Genocide I was getting ~1800, Syndicate ~2200+, and ACE ~1500. Along those lines, SetCPU will not go over 1Ghz with ACE. Anyone else seeing performance results this low and issues with SetCPU not hitting 1.2Ghz?

SetCPU works fine going to 1.2 Ghz. As far as quad scores I don't pay any attention to them. TER v1.5 also had the journaling mod which accounts for more speed/better quad scores.

This has been this way for months or ever since the AOSP lockscreen has been around. People have asked to have it fixed but nobody has ever attempted doing it.

Interesting, mine caps at 1Ghz with no option to go to 1.2. What version are you using? I am using 2.1.0.

i ment to quote what paul quoted.. but this works just as well... i can overclock to 1.2ghz fine. with TER 1.5 i had a smartbench quadrant score of 2929 (games index. productivity of 1299), ACE yields a score of 2519 (games index. productivity of 1032). so a little lower but w/e

but why is everyone so quadrant score crazy? wth does it matter what the score is, as long as the phone is snappy and runs well?? Its all about real world performance, not statistics that mean nothing when not applied 99% of the time. I am VERY happy with ACE. the only thing i dont like on my phone right now is my theme (emotionless beast). i like some things about it, and others about TER mini theme. so i've gotta (learn to) customize that. benchmarks aside its a great rom; i have had ZERO problems i couldnt resolve, even if it meant flashing nandroid backup while driving haha. its a nice, fun, stable rom.

I'm using version 3a, which is installed with Ace v1.7. No problems overclocking here. Haven't had any problems overclocking any versions of the Genocide kernel since it started the day Rodderik got the source code from EB13.

Hmm, I did not see it installed before I installed v2.1. Reinstalling the ROM now and retesting.

Love the ROM btw, thanks for all the hard work!
