gsf1200s - i am looking to do the same thing too. if you have success or find anything worthwhile, please share.

i might try the mms app from the gingerbread alpha over at xda

update: the mms app from cm7 alpha did not work. i flashed it and it did not show up on my phone. i was able to flash back to the stock app so i do not think it was an error by me

Anyone flashed the Spartacus kernel over this yet?

I did and you will have to re run OneClickRoot to reroot. I don't have root built into ACE and you will loose root when flashing Spartacus.

Note: I am looking into what is needed to add root to ACE in the next release.

after all my other questions this one may yet be the most noobish-

whats with everyone wanting twilight kernel for "keyboard"? what exactally does it change? (fyi im happy with keyboard that comes with ACE, and <3 the performance with genocide kernel)

and a tip for anyone complaining about AM launcher or trying to find a new launcher that lets them have a little more freedom to customize- ADWLauncherEX. totally worth the couple bucks. complete customization. minimal/no lag. love it.

There is a keyboard lag when you are typing on the physical keyboard. If you press the same button almost instantly over and over again it will lag. It can be irritating when messaging, etc.. The fix resolves this issue and once you actually have the fix you will realize what I'm talking about.. All the sudden you will find yourself being able to type a whole lot faster with instant response again to your keyboard. This is a EB13 bug that should of never happened.

Most kernels now or the next version of them do or will have the keyboard lag fix in them.

paul - if i flash a theme from your eb13 froyo list of goodies thread, how would i go back to the defaul ace theme?

would i have to reflash the entire rom?

Yes reflash the ROM or make a backup in CWM and you can always wipe and restore the backup (Not exactly the best method but I have done it plenty of times).

Or you could use one of the framework's I provided in post #2 to flash over whatever it is you change...

Edit, if you flash a full theme then using one of my themes from post #2 will only change the frameworks, if the theme you flash has changes to apps then it won't erase/reset those. Stick with my first two suggestions.

will that kernel fix the fact that this phone is making me hate qwerty keyboards? (because the keys have never seemed to read well... always missing letters that i KNOW i pushed) or is that just because samsung cant design a good keyboard?

i'm assuming this "twilight" kernel is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=976197 ??

and will i loose root??? (i deleted my cwm 1 click root thingy and dont want to have to hunt through forums to find it again if i will loose root i will prob just stay with genocide)

Can anyone tell me about the GPS stability with this rom? I am fairly new to this and the only rom I've used with my Epic is Truly Epic 1.2 and that was ok but a game I bought called spectral souls didnt work and the GPS didnt work either.

I finaly did a complete factory reset and had to reconfig my phone for it to work with my national phone carrier (not sprint, not in the USA) and went back to eclair and I think I even lost my root and my EXT file system but the phone is now working great, the GPS works fine and spectral souls worked wonderfully.... and I have a big 20 day trip to europe soon and I will need that GPS working (I purchased a gps app from the market) so I am not sure if I should risk it again, upgrading to a custom rom and see if it works or just stay the way I am right now, go to that trip in about 3 weeks then when I come back see if sprint has released the officialy froyo or something.. Not sure if I should risk it.

Anyone has any info on GPS stability with this rom?

thank you paul. i am going to try out some different themes but i will back up in cwm so i can get back to stock ace if i do not find something i like.

again you have been most helpful

i'm assuming this "twilight" kernel is [Kernel][ACS][GPL] Twilight Zone Kernel v1.0.3 - Hisako - xda-developers ??

Yes go with Twilight Zone v1.0.1, this will give you back your physical keyboard response your supposed to have. No you should not loose root. I use it and its fine.

Just from my own standpoint GPS is very solid with ACE. I haven't done any modifications to effect GPS. I usually lock in around 2-3 meters.

Absolutely loving Ace. Seem to be having an issue with my data connectivity though, anyone else? Wifi works fine but whenever I switch to 4g I get idle/sleep then straight to disconnected. I had a solid 5mb 4g connection with stock 2.1 . Any ideas? used odin to flash Stock EB13 Deodexed EXT4 + CW 3.0.0.6 then flashed Ace 1.7 via CWM. Thanks.

I'm able to connect for about 30 seconds at 1bar then get idle/booted and get disconnected message. This will loop constantly or 3g kicks in. For the 30 seconds or so 4g connects it rarely even works. Get frequent errors about no connection. no issues with 3g if I turn 4g off. Girlfriend has same situation with her Epic. Exact same steps taken on both phones. I'd say its network related but I live in Bridgeport CT, some of Sprints best 4G coverage. Again thanks for any feedback.

pardon the noob question but can't find easy answer: I'm already rooted and EXT4'd up, running truly epic rebirth, and I wanna try ACE. Do I just put ACE on SD card, and select from clockwork a la how I did TER 1.5? Do I have to wipe clean/remove TER 1.5 first?

Do I have to go from dk18 (TER 1.5) to eb 13 separately? The instructions are great for ACE from stock, not sure about switching roms, its my first time

some people have it running on dk28.. i wouldnt recommend it. the switch to eb13 is painless and fixes a lot of little issues. i was hesitant but now glad i did. im guesing since you have dk28 that you know how to use odin. THIS page has the download for eb13 that you will need in odin. installing eb13 will wipe phone (but shouldnt touch sd card). then just wipe cache/data/dalvik 3x, and flash ACE from your sd card like you did TER

t-hawk,

how is the ter mini theme v1.8 running on ace. any issues at all? i was thinking about flashing that and testing it out.

thanks

It ran great. No problems at all. However I switched and am using emotionless beast (link in sig). And I've done a lot of little customizations on my own since I flashed it so its not even "stock" emotionless. Both work great though.

I have been running ACE 1.7 for a couple of weeks. Initially, BT worked fine other than for voice dialing. Today, however, I started having problems getting connected to BT in my car. Rebooting and repairing fixed the problem but it came back again after a few calls. Since I didn't have problems initially would reflashing ACE be of any benefit?

Has there been any progress on BT issues with ACE or other ROMs?
