[ROM] ACE ROM v2.0 (No Further EC05 Development)

Would you like to see the CIQ Removal in the next release of ACE?

I have been running ACE 1.7 for a couple of weeks. Initially, BT worked fine other than for voice dialing. Today, however, I started having problems getting connected to BT in my car. Rebooting and repairing fixed the problem but it came back again after a few calls. Since I didn't have problems initially would reflashing ACE be of any benefit?

Has there been any progress on BT issues with ACE or other ROMs?

I would consider flashing again. Blue tooth has still been an issue, last I personallly tested I was able to use bluetooth headset fine and also connect via my laptop for file transfers. Voice dialing I attempted a fix but was unsuccessful at this point in time. Bonsai and Syndicate seem to have good performing blue tooth and voice dialing but I have heard of it breaking occasionally there too... I think bluetooth is always going to be a tough subject because of the varying devices that use bluetooth and the open or wide tolerances they probably have.

Hi ya'll.

I'm a noob and have been learking for weeks reading everything I can on Rooting my Epic, installing Rom's etc. It's quite overwhelming, but in a good way.. I'm finally ready to take the plunge and will install ACE, however I rooted my phone the other day using the Z4Root and have no problems, but the main reason I wanted to Root was to add performance and most imortantly battery life, as I'm only getting a day use with a double sized battery already installed.

I don't want to take up too much of anyones time, and will follow the link to Root as best I can. Do I unRoot with Z4Root first? Other that that I'm at 2.1.1 stock.

Is there a link on how to backup to SD card, so I don't loose my gallery, contacts and wallpapers?

-Thanks!

you sd card wont be touched when rooting or flashing a rom so you do not have to back it up if you do not want to. i always just copy the files to my computer as a safety measure.

you will want to upgrade to eb13 froyo prerooted w/ ext4 here:

http://forum.androidcentral.com/epi...d-deodexed-clockwork-rfs-ext4.html#post645564

the ext4 and cwm 3.0.0.6 is what you want. that will give you eb13 froyo and rooted all at once. from there you put the ace zip on your sd card and flash in cwm

Thank you!!!

How do I move apps WPs to sd, or just save them there in the future?..

Any suggestions for a set-up for performance and battery.

When flashing ROMs, will AppBrain fix all of the empty app links? I spent two hours trying to get those re-downloaded from the market. I HATE doing that.

Also, I tried to use ROM manager to backup ACE & I kept getting an error ( picture of a warning sign & an android). Anyway to back up all of my ACE Settings through ROM manager?

To save yourself a bunch of trouble just stop using ROM manager right now. It doesn't work properly with the ROMs were using and causes alot of headaches.

All flashing and backups can be done using CWM's, Nandroid Backup/Restore.

Paul,

I know you are working on the CIQ stuff. Are you going to wait for the new Epic Froyo release coming out Monday before you continue working on it? Just curious.

I'm not sure yet where I stand on the CIQ Removal. Honestly I took a well deserved break over the last week and devoted some time to my Adviser position and my new thread [How To] Converting/Creating CWM2 & CWM3 Files Step by Step

I will wait and see what this new update brings us, I'm interested in finding out more about this Sprint ID if its just an added application from Sprint or something buried deeper in the OS.

I would not say CIQ removal is out of the question but at this moment I'm holding off and enjoying having a ROM that is almost problem free and still offers a good alternative to all of you over stock.

sprint ID is stupid. waste of space. just as bad as the other bloatware they put on it. if you need sprint to help tell you what apps you need, then you should just go get a blackberry or something with less variety. my gf has SID on her phone, twas worthless to her. google provides more insight and helpful ideas on new apps, and appbrain can send them right to your phone. i will prob stay with eb13-especially considering the incredible amount of modding i have done to this rom. i forgot half of what i've done but i dont want to loose it all haha.

i flased ter 1.8 and everything worked fine except my gmail app did not update to the black version. i have flashed twice with no luck. everything else updated.

suggestions?

GMail probably wouldn't update because the version of GMail you have is newer than the version of GMail in that Mini Theme...

Try uninstalling GMail or updates and then flash it and see what happens.

i forgot it got updated. you are probably right.

i will try to uninstall the update and reflash. hopefully when it updates again though it will keep the black icon.

If its just the black icon you want I can get that for you.

Give me a few and I'll post it for you.

that would be great so then it is black to go with the black messing icon from the theme. i did notice i have 2 clocks in my app menu. i think i will just reflash the theme with the clock app removed

I can do the icon, changing the whole GMail to Black is a bit more involved. I tried it before to update it to the latest version and can get the colors to all go no problem but then all the text colors have to be changed also which is more involved. It can be done, I just don't have the time to do it right now.

oh no. i just want the icon black. i do not care about the actual color for the emails

thanks paul

If you want black gmail use emotionless beast theme (link in my sig). Or jut download the zip for theme, take the gmail.apk out out it, put on ur sd card and install it.
