Would you like to see the CIQ Removal in the next release of ACE?

So are the EXT 4 data corruption issues still present? I noticed whenever doing a battery pull while on EXT 4 this would happen.

Huh? Data corruption issues wont happen if you use a journaling ROM (or at least the journal will replay fixing any corruption from having to do a battery pull)...

Paul,

Going to flash this rom in a few, just out of curiousity, how is ROM different from SFR? Will I notice a difference? Thanks!

It doesnt try to do as much as Syndicate ROM. We owe a lot of the cool mods available for the Epic to the ACS guys (k0nane for instance). That said, and others experiences may be different, they can be tricky and a bit unstable at times. I think 80% of this is the fact that most ROMs run without journaling, and the other 20% is because the devs do so much each time they offer a new release.

ACE tries to cut most of the crap, package a nice kernel (using the same kernel as Syndicate actually), a simple basic theme, a few key features everyone wants (the battery cut offs removed, No CIQ, security patches, battery-full popup kill, etc) and leave the rest alone. This is the JOURNALED version of ACE, which means you probably wont have any problems with it. Also, the dev of this ROM doesnt release a new version every 10 days- he lets it ride awhile so people dont feel they constantly need to flash a new ROM. He'll usually offer patches if a lot of people feel a need for something..

Paul, just flashed and its working great. Smooth, simple theme, only ROM ive ever run that comes instantly out of sleep, and no issues. So you and others know, that mms from Baked Snack (AOSP mms) seems to work perfect.. Thanks for the new release!

Two things I will note just in case you want to change it Paul:

1) You have Google Streetview installed on the ROM, but not Google Maps. No biggie, just an install from the market, but thought you might want to know.

2) The twilight kernel is capable of Voodoo sound, but you dont have the interface in the ROM. Ill try to track down the Voodoo control apk and see if it works.. It doesnt really matter for me again since I use bluetooth headphones and the volume gain doesnt work there, but just so you know..

**EDIT** Really smooth rom- grabbed Spare Parts and turned up the animations/scrolling to Fast, and theres no skipping or stuttering. In case anyone is curious, if you do get some stuttering, change the scaling from Conservative to OnDemand (via SetCPU or a free option). I had the same issue with Syndicate and Midnight w/Twilight. Switching to another kernel would also likely fix the problem. Im thinking of giving that manual undervolting a shot (Genocide) ;)

That is something from the stock deodexed ROM. I didn't change a thing. I will make note of this in the second post (Troubleshoots/Patches) thread for everyone. Thanks.

I will also provide the Voodoo Control app in the second post later tonight.

Good old Spare Parts, once again it will be noted in the second post.

Thanks for all the feedback to this point. I didn't pass this out to any testors so its obvious a few things I missed but they are all easily fixed/patched. I will update all these things later today in the 2nd post.

Cool :) I just thought id tell you these things in case you werent aware; they are all easy fixes. Had zero issues so far, but its only been on a little while now. Ill give you any updates if I have issues. Thanks for the "2nd Post" revisions you always do- we all appreciate it. Actually, why even change the ROM to include/change this stuff, you know? You release ACE basically for us to do what we want with it anyways (my my that VisionKernel looks tempting ;) )- Just leave up the options in the second post. Hopefully others will come along with any observations..

Unless its a major bug that needs fixing I won't update the ROM. All patches/fixes for any bugs will be in the 2nd post as before.

Hey sorry for my noob questions- I got the new version of the rom downloaded...and the eco5 tar- does it matter which pit file I use? I can't seem to find full instructions for odin using this version tar (I know people should KNOW how to do this)...

I just don't want to do something wrong. Can I use the old pit from Odin3+v1.61epic.pit? That we were instructed to use with DK28?

If there is no " .pit " file included with the Odin " .tar ", then it is not needed. Just place the .tar file in PDA slot select Auto Reboot only and START.

If you have any troublesz with Odin just our [How To]Factory Restore, sticky for Troubleshoots with Odin.

I did read that in another thread- it just sounded fishy. :) Thx for confirming.

Big sigh... wish me luck!

Battery life?

Hey guys, does anybody have a lead on the best kernel and settings for optimal battery life on this ROM (which is AWESOME!)

I'm using newest twilight at 200<1000 conservative. It's draining quick!

thanks!

can I get some clarification on those SetCPU settings = I have never used that before and when I went into it there are a few different options to choose from ; are you talking about "profile" ?

Charging up now so I can Flash Ace 2.0

On another note; I think all the stuff I've been showing the wife has been sinking in.. AND I thought she has been bored stiff with these things I've been excited to show her.. Well I think I just converted her from her Blackberry.. ANy suggestions on a nice Android phone for her? I think the Epic is not it, as she likes the size and feel of her blackberry..

Kernels

Paul,

What kernels would be compatible with ACE? Maybe a more relevant question: Is the kernel based upon Froyo version (EC05, etc.)?

I noticed on Ace 1.7 when i plugged it into my computer it gave me an option of picking charge, storage and I believe tether. How do I get it to work on Ace 2.0 or is it only available on 1.7?

Thanks.
