[ROM]ACS ICS v5 (noCiQ)[EI22]

Here's another vote for v4, I really liked it and held out updating to v5/5.1/5.5 until recently, when I bit the bullet in the name of progress and flashed 5.5. I then flashed the Samurai 1.2.5-EXP kernel and did some voltage mods with SetCPU to hopefully get a little better battery life, v4 seemed better in that regard. I also restored Launcher Pro from Titanium, as I didn't like the 5.5 launcher at all.

I just liked the look and feel of v4 vs. 5.5, but that's a personal preference and generally the newer versions will have performance improvements you'll want to have, even though it may be at the expense of operational features you liked in previous versions. And if you follow the ACS ICS forum at XDA, you'll find ways of restoring some of those things you liked in previous versions.

Speaking of, a small nitpick of mine in 5.5 is the text/SMS smiley icons, almost all the stock icons were replaced with all green (and less distinctive) icons. I miss the stock icons with the red accents and clarity, they stand out while the new all-green ones are not easily recognizable. This may be a performance update/improvement, and if that's the case, I'll learn to live with it.

You have to figure the devs have good reasons for most if not all of their tweaks/changes and obviously they won't please everyone. The one constant in all of this is change, and usually for the better. I, for one, am just happy to see renewed interest in the development of our little phone since the GB release, as I was all set to move on to a different phone, with all the Froyo limitations and performance issues.

Of course I can't speak for everyone, but I'm once again glad I own an Epic 4G. And thanks to Marcusant and all the contributing devs for continuing to find ways to improve it! :)

Has anyone else had issues with messaging on this? It was working fine for a while, and then starting bonking every time I try to type a letter replying to a text message. I did a backup, switched to another rom, and it worked fine on that (but I changed back because I like this rom in all other areas).

What's with the about phone> battery status? Seems to be inaccurate, and doesn't reset.

======> update: Now it seems to be working. Not sure what changed.

Keith

dont know if you noticed but that pull down has a horizontal scroll on it...nonetheless, there is indeed no 4G toggle.

Set up a gesture for it or a widget is the only way around it....OR you can swap out the systemUI from 5.0

On the positive side, if you get into the habit of using the data toggle when you are not using data your battery will last you days...

I swapped the SystemUI.apk from a different Theme and replaced it into the theme that I flashed over ACS ICS v5.5 and I can report that it works, I have the old quick panel with the 4G toggle. Thanks for the information. The old quick panel is my preference over the other methods suggested, so this is greatly appreciated.

One thing I noticed (at least on v5.5) is I do not get LED notifications when my phone screen is off. Not until I turn on the screen do I start seeing LED notifications. This is sort of annoying for email and other notifications. Has anyone else seen this issue? Any known fixes?

If I wanted to get the lock screen fron version 4.0 the one that only shows a ring and not a ring conected to the side, what would I have to do? I don't mind keeping the scrollable drop down menu.

Have they put the 4g toggle back yet? Until they do I won't waste my time on it again. Making a Swype gesture does not work for system settings with launcher pro.

There are just too many good roms out there to choose from, to have to find work arounds for something that should be standard.
Just my opinion...

Hi i had my phone rootedand everything was working fine. it froze a couple times but no biggie. last night i calibrated my battery following qbking's instructions. the phone died out, i plugged it in for the night and left it. just woke up and checked my phone and anytime i try to access anything google, it force closes. sometimes it force closes something google when im not even doing or trying to access anything.

i uninstalled any programs i installed yesterday (games and clockworkmod for the calibration) but its still having that error. any insight anyone??

Does anyone know how to get the other camera to work on GTalk when video chatting? I have to turn the phone around for the other person to see me. (I'm on v4)

Fix Permissions in CWM or ROM manager and see if that helps.

Been running 5.5 for a few days now:
