[ROM]ACS ICS v5 (noCiQ)[EI22]

Yes you can remove apks you don't like from the ROM pre-flash too.....

Think Free = thinkdroid.apk (located in /system/app/)

You can Google the apk names in the /app/ directory and that will tell you 99% of the time what apk is which for those that aren't self explanatory from looking at their file name...

Beat me by that much..... Thanks for the google suggestion.

Thanks guys love the rom but just needed to add few apps I use and remove some unwanted ones

I've read that 5.1 is able to be flashed right over previous versions. Has anyone done this without problems? I'm currently on v4 and happy with the overall performance, so I'm not in a big hurry - but if/when I update I want to do it right.

I've got everything backed up - Titanium, MyBackUp, ACS Recovery (can't be too safe;) )

EDIT: According to Marcus from XDA site - If you are already on 5.x then just flash. Only wipe coming from 1.x 2.x 3.x 4.x

AND he said 5.1.1 will be out soon :

v5.1.1 will be out soon

Changelog

Re-added samurai kernel to stop the complaining
Fixed a framework **** up and added a better battery mod
Added a script for people with tiny e- es (open up terminal emulator, type "su" and then "e ")

I'm also on v4 and will probably upgrade once 5.1.1 has been vetted a bit. Please let me know if installing without a wipe works. I did read at least one or two folks that were able to do it without a wipe, but haven't tried it myself.

The first time I installed 5.0, I lost all my programs but that was coming from stock. Since then I've installed 3 different roms always coming back to ACS ICS. Only when coming from stock have I ever had to reload anything. All other times my setup never changed.

I was on v 5.0 and loaded 5.1 on sd card and installed from there and rebooted without wiping data. Superuser and Titanium won't work now...should I reflash? All else seems good though.

I had the same problem. Reflash su in recovery and it will fix both.

5.5 is out with Samurai 1.2.1 baked in.

Problem is he baked in ADW launcher too and Ive been using Launcher Pro for who knows how long.

Tried to install from market, but it force closes everytime, so thought maybe I could replace the ADW.apk with the launcherpro.apk....inside the install package.

Any chance one of you smart folks have a suitable lancherpro.apk for me to give that a go?

I'm not sure this will work, but here's the APK. At least, I think that's the right APK file.

Loving 5.5 so far. It seems faster. Not sure how battery life is yet, though.

This may keep me on v5.0 which has been very fast and stable. 5.1 took away the version of voltage control that would let you over clock or change the voltage settings. And 5.5 adds awdlauncher which I never liked.

Looks like I will have to play around with the apk files to make 5.5 what I want.

Ok. I was able to delete the awdlauncher.apk and add launcherpro.apk to the flash. I was also able to add the full version of voltage control to the flash so I can overclock and under volt the phone. I also like the battery % icon much better in 5.5

The swype keyboard in this version. It is the same one I pulled out of the legendary rom and put in ACS ICSv5.1. So yes I like this change as well.

Negatives... The only negative I see, I think the nuberuno (whatever it was called) kernel was faster than samurai. And the 4g toggle has to come back!

I loaded 5.5 the other day and have a 4G toggle in the notification pull down. Maybe there was another toggle you are referring to in earlier versions??? Doesn't matter for me, no 4G where I live and work.:'(

I'm not sure, but they *might* be talking about the notification icon that shows when you have 4G on, sort of like how there are icons for WiFi and 3G up there next to the battery and time (at least on stock). I think I read some comments elsewhere about that going missing, but I can't recall if it was for this ROM or some other one. But I think I agree -- why would 4G notification be removed? It wouldn't be a huge deal to me as I rarely use 4G anyway, it's not especially strong where I usually am, but providing a notification icon that it's on is kind of a basic thing, so I'm a bit surprised that it would be removed.

Hmmm.... Just loaded it and the notification only had a toggle for data. From what I have been told that is for both 3g & 4g. Was also told with that on, it would automatically connect to the 4g signal if there was one available. Sorry but I want the ability to pick and choose when to connect with 4g as it kills my battery. Like I, said. My version of 5.5 only had a data on and off toggle. That just isn't enough. I want to be able to choose what data I'm connecting to.

You sure you're running 5.5? And, did you apply any post-flash framework patches or anything? Cause 5.5 doesn't have the 4G toggle in the notification bar, cause he added a scrolling bar (which is pretty awesome!) and it wasn't compatible with it. That's really interesting.

Keith

dont know if you noticed but that pull down has a horizontal scroll on it...nonetheless, there is indeed no 4G toggle.

Set up a gesture for it or a widget is the only way around it....OR you can swap out the systemUI from 5.0

On the positive side, if you get into the habit of using the data toggle when you are not using data your battery will last you days...

My mistake. Just looked at the zip file and apparently I loaded 5.1. I thought the download link said 5.5.
