ROM ALERT: Baked Snack v1.6 [update6]

hey rag,

i have a question about flashing mixup kernel.

i tried flashing it and it wont work for me and i currently have baked snack 1.0 flashed.

and i was also wondering how to flash a kernel?
do i just do the same thing as flashing a rom? because what happens if i want say baked snack rom and mixup kernel?

do i wipe? and then flash the kernel first then the rom? or what?

i just need the order of instruction i dont need a step by step

thank you!

Kernel flashing is a more straightforward and less involved process. Unless you're having problems, usually you don't need to wipe before flashing a kernel. Flashing a kernel and a rom involve the same process - boot into clockwork and install the zip file.

If you want to mix and match roms and kernels, always install the ROM first and the kernel second. If you install the kernel first, installing the ROM second will overwrite the kernel with the one prepackaged in the ROM.

For the MixUp kernel, under Settings>About Phone>Build Number it should read: "SPH-D700 - Tha Boss ROM - MixUp Custom Kernel". Don't worry about the part that says Tha Boss ROM. It only says that because this kernel was originally custom made for Tha Boss ROM and later released as a stand-alone kernel.

Let me know if I wasn't clear enough or you need more detail.

that was perfect. in fact it was more than i asked for. thanks!

i have one more basic question. do i need to leave juice defender running in the background? can i just hit the back button so its not in my (samsung-built in) task manager - but the icon is still in the status bar?

because i leave the "enabled" button on but im curious as to whether or not its working in the background without it being in my task manager

The Samsung Task Manager is crap. If you get something like Advanced Task Killer you'll see that the stock task manager doesn't show a lot of apps that are running/in the background, so don't worry about if it shows up there. Just make sure it's correctly enabled, which it sounds like it is.

My quadrant scores went from around 950 to 1019 after the update.

I was just beginning to wonder if an update was coming. So happy. lol

Flashed this last night and I am very impressed. No issues at the moment and just enjoying the speed. Linpack was 10.6 and on Eclair that is pretty impressive. Everything is just a little bit snappier and I am getting the same if not better battery life on 1.3ghz conservative profile. Also, the phone boots very fast.

This is definitely one of the best ROMs I've ever run. My only problem was instability at 1.3GHz, so I had to dial it back to 1.2GHz but it's still scary fast.

I have no problems at 1.3 GHz, but my facebook profile keeps doing weird things.

I love this ROM.

I had to do the same when I flashed this ROM. It was crashing on me a few times when I had it clocked at 1.3, now at 1.2 it smooth and still super fast.

My config is min-200 and max-1300

I'm usually using conservative profile but kept it on performance for a little while for benchmarking. I have been lucky and have not had any crashes.

I also did a complete wipe twice before flashing and I restored my info using Titanium and not recovery if that matters.

I also have to say the mario powerup notification sound is awesome.

can anybody help me out with overclocking? i know the kernel is over clocked, does that mean we don't need to change anything? I am running baked snack, either 1.2 or 1.3. not really sure which, my downloads folder says 1.3 but my phone "firmware" says 1.2. either way i'm not sure how to go about overclocking my phone, but i do have set cpu if needed. thanks guys!

Go into setCPU and press the auto settings. Finally, just slide the bar to max and you're good to go. If it is stable, you can have it set on boot too.

Will phone settings be erased?

I apologize if this question has been answered elsewhere...

I have Clockworkmod and titanium loaded on my phone. If I flash this ROM will I lose all my apps and settings? If so is there a procedure to follow so that I don't lose everything?

Thanks.

YES! It's awesome. The only time it's inconvenient is when someone is playing Mario within earshot, so other than this past weekend...never.
