[ROM] Android Open Kang Project

I'm on M5 and using the included kernel at the moment, but I'm thinking about trying Franco again on this ROM. My question is, if I don't like Franco's kernel and want to come back to the stock AOKP kernel, how do I go about reflashing the stock kernel? Do I have to locate just the kernel and reflash? Any help is appreciated!

I flashed this ROM a week ago, around the same time I started turning off 4g when it wasn't necessary, however, now when reactivating 4g it will work for 2 minutes and then lose all signal, If I kill 4g again, 3g comes back and works fine. Im at a loss.

What am I doing?

Yes, you would just need to find the kernel and flash it over franco, but you won't. Franco. Kernel rocks!

why am I getting poor battery life on this build.

apps that pull data (but aren't showing in my battery usage) are:

WWF
Dice with buddies
Draw something
FB
Craigs List
3 gmail accts.

and yes one live wall paper- but my devils are winning so can't change that.
On the faux kernal that came with MS 5.

Over night from 10- 4:30 battery went from 100 to 72 percent with screen off.

Airplane mode at night is your friend, and franco.Kernel too. ;-)

When I did a live wallpaper (ONCE) it absolutely murdered my battery. After that one time, I ditched them forever.
If you can't do without one, just be prepared for poor battery.

Thinking of adding one of the Holo colored themes on Rootzwiki. Is it just like flashing anything else. Just put on the root of the SD and flash? I'm assuming just wipe cache/dalvick and not wipe everything? Also, is the only way to go back to the stock theme to do a nandroid right before?

Everything you said is correct.
There is a way of getting back w/o doing a nandroid. The 2 main files that do most of the themeing are systemUI.apk and framework-res.apk. You could copy those 2 files and put them into a flashable zip before flashing the theme. Then if you wanted to revert, just flash the zip you made.

Kinda involved so a nandroid would do fine, its just that it takes so long.

Thanks so much. Doing the Nandroid now actually.

Loving AOKP B35! Loaded 4.0.4 radios with the bootloader, as well Franco's latest kernel. Haven't had a single issue. Overclocked my GPU to 512 and my phone feels stable and additional battery drain is very minimal compared to stock settings.

Min 384MHz, Max 1228MHz. Interactive Gov. Dual core.

ive read somewhere that backup assistant doesnt work with AOKP..... i found the apk for it, and installed it onto the phone.... could that be the reason i get bug reports generated with stock 4.0.2 keys?

May I suggest to those of you using vzw backup assistant to switch to syncing your device with google instead? Even if you were to switch carriers, everything will still be right there. If you use market restore, even your apps will download themselves. Soooo much better than backup assistant, and I don't think there's a ROM out there that syncing with google is a problem (unless it's gapps related). That's an assumption however, based soley on comments I've read about it (I've never used backup assistant myself).

Good luck though, I know it sucks not having all your stuff back after flashing a ROM.

gah.... i wiped and cleared both caches, installed B35, did NOT install VZ Backup assistant, and im STILL getting bug reports generated with 4.0.2 keys.

what am i still doing wrong? luckily ROM Control has the option to disable bug mailer (not sure if it was there before and i just missed it)

I would just start over dude. It's not that bad to set everything back up after wiping data if you backup your launcher, texts, and apps first. The only real pain in the butt after that is setting up the ROM stuff (nav bar, lockscreen, status bar, yada yada)... and it's not even that bad.

That's my opinion anyway. Backup everything, then wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, format system... then reflash the ROM and gapps, reboot, and restore your stuff.

I'm about to hit b35 after lunch. Been slacking. Pretty sure you could disable the bug mailer since way back. For sure on M5, that's what I'm on now.

Good luck man.
