[ROM][AOSP][10/31][JB] Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus

Re: [ROM][JB][AOSP] 4.1.1 Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus - 7/12/1

I reset it, and it seems to be running fine. I'm missing the stock browser now though.

I always do a complete wipe, but I chose not to this time since I figured these roms are pretty much fully stock and not much changes. I'll run it for a few days and see how it goes.

This was my first dirty wipe.

Pete omitted the stock browser since flash isn't supported on JB.

This is one thing that really bums me out about Jellybean.. I actually have to use flash once in a while.. I understand the reasons why, but I wish they would have kept flash support just for a little longer.

I also hate that he took out the stock browser.. I just prefer it and really hate Chrome mobile, not even related to flash. I meant to stick it in the ROM zip before I flashed but forgot.. Going to see if I can grab it from another ROM just drop it in /system/app and hopefully get it working :)

Newbie here in attempting to install BB. I see there is an OTA file. Can I treat it like another OTA? I used this video as a guide to take an OTA and update to 4.0.4 before Verizon pushed it and it worked like a charm.

Worked like a charm.. if anyone desires the stock browser over chrome.. just download this, use Root explorer and paste it in /system/app then just reboot. Easy peasy :)

Note you can get rid of Chrome just deleting it from /system/app as well, if you want.

EDIT: Not able to get it to sync my Google account's bookmark's like it should.. looking into it... will post if I find a workaround, probably something simple I hope..

Not really.. you need to have a custom recovery and flash this like a ROM. See the stickied topic about Installing custom ROMs up on top.

All booted up and restored, but...Google Now not working. Microphone is flashing away and NOTHING. Any suggestions?

Download an offline speech recognition package, under Settings > Language & Input > Voice Search... might have to look around but you'll find it. Believe that should solve it..

You can't really tell for a couple days after flashing. Give the ROM and kernel time to settle and the battery to calibrate. Takes time and power cycles.

It's JB.. Go into the language and input settings and check the keyboard settings, I'm not sure exactly which as I use swiftkey, but I'm pretty sure you can change this.

Yeah rather just wait until the APM is built into ROMs, the solution I'm using works just fine for now and I rather not flash mods over things just yet.

I didn't see it in the settings. I think it may be this ROM. I like the stock keyboard and don't want to download another keyboard. Hmm...what would Pete say?

That did the trick. As soon as I read your post, I remembered reading that as well. Thanks for the memory jog. Once I rebooted with no luck the first time, I remember you need to update the permissions as well of the file.

Re: [ROM][JB][AOSP] 4.1.1 Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus - 7/13/1

yup 7/13 build is up

Changes seem to include another wifi fix (5ghz is still broken for me), faster boot times, new youtube app, some build info tweaks. That's according to pete's twitter.

Been running it for about an hour...no issues at all.

Pete makes an awesome ROM. Can't wait to see what he does with it in the next few weeks.

Running the 7/12 build. Got to work and I'm not getting 4G at all where I normally get around 2 bars most of the time.

I haven't noticed any difference in my 4G signal.
It's the same on 7/12 and 7/13 as it usually is at work.

Did you do a full wipe coming in from another ROM?

Oh yeah. FULL WIPE. No left over contaminants.
I just rebooted and my 4G is back. Just hope this is not a sign of things to come as I always have 4G at my desk.

Here's another small issue that is really annoying...
I chose NOT to sync my bookmarks on initial startup. I downloaded the stock browser apk in one of the previous threads and it works fine now, except...no bookmarks.
How do I get them back? Google supposedly backs up everything, correct?
I always had my bookmarks from previous ROM's after full wipes.
I also backed up EVERYTHING in TB. I don't see the bookmarks there either.
Maybe it's too early in the morning, but it's really frustrating me.
Help!

2def posted the link a few pages back and stated the same problem. He may be able to help you if he figured it out. I decided to just stick with chrome
