[ROM][AOSP][10/31][JB] Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus

Re: [ROM][JB][AOSP] 4.1.1 Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus - 7/13/1

Oh yeah. FULL WIPE. No left over contaminants.
I just rebooted and my 4G is back. Just hope this is not a sign of things to come as I always have 4G at my desk.

Here's another small issue that is really annoying...
I chose NOT to sync my bookmarks on initial startup. I downloaded the stock browser apk in one of the previous threads and it works fine now, except...no bookmarks.
How do I get them back? Google supposedly backs up everything, correct?
I always had my bookmarks from previous ROM's after full wipes.
I also backed up EVERYTHING in TB. I don't see the bookmarks there either.
Maybe it's too early in the morning, but it's really frustrating me.
Help!

Well i'm not the dev so i can't speak to the specifics of why the stock browser isn't working. The previous posts gave you a solution to hack it back in but any number of items could be wrong. I'm not sure what other files were removed that might have handled bookmark sync.

Bookmarks probably aren't backedup with TB.

You could post the issue over at the Rootz thread and ask Pete why he took out the stock browser and what might need to be restored to get it working again. Or ask the person that posted the apk if they have any suggestions.

I get that the solution to use Chrome isn't the one some people want. I think though that it's obvious based on the lack of Flash support from Adobe and the removal of the stock browser from the Nexus 7 tab that Google is going to begin phasing out the old browser. At some point everyone will need to make the jump to Chrome or to another 3rd party stock browser anyway. The question is do you want to do it now or later?

Been running BB for the last few days. Everything works so far. For gnow u have to download the English pack and install for it to work right. Only other bugg I see is the WiFi, it doesn't see my 5ghz band.

2def posted the link a few pages back and stated the same problem. He may be able to help you if he figured it out. I decided to just stick with chrome

The browser works fine. I just didn't choose the option to restore bookmarks on one of the startup screens. I don't know if it would have caused an error since the browser was not there initially. But, I am pretty sure the option was there.
I remember restoring backups previously with TB, just can't figure out why I am not seeing the bookmarks backed up within the app.

Yeah wasn't able to figure out the stock browser bookmark sync issue, yet. Explored the ROM zip and compared to some others but I couldn't find the culprit. As suggested I'll probably post on rootz or ask a developer.

I love what Google's done with the stock browser and just hate Chrome.. its clunky and slower than the stock one, IMO, and I also love the quick/thumb controls :)

Success! Maybe it didn't show up after the initial reboot after I installed the stock browser, but there was a Browser listing in TB and had the restore available from yesterday before I wiped my phone. I know restoring "system" apps is taboo. But, since this wasn't originally on the phone when I flashed BB, I really had nothing to lose. I restored the data, rebooted the phone and viola!...all of my bookmarks are back where they belong.

I don't know why Pete would take it upon himself to remove a Google app. Just give us everything and let us decide. This is supposed to be a stock ROM. As far as I know, the browser is included in the official apps package, correct?

Meh, his choice.. he assumed since flash isn't supported that Chrome should be good for all, but I really do prefer the stock browser as well. Glad you got that working.. I don't have a backup of it from an earlier ROM since I never backup system apps.. anyways I'll figure something out :)

I always back them up. Never had to use one until now. Glad I did. :)

If this latest 7/13 build doesn't fix the 5ghz wifi issue, I will likely skip it. At least one person said the problem still exists, can anyone else confirm?

I have a JB Enhanced Power Menu and a T9 dialer that I was using on JellyBelly. Will they work with Bugless Beast? JB should be JB right?

Consider it confirmed.

Bad assumption to make.. Different roms are different roms. If it isn't confirmed to work on this rom, you can always make a backup and try it so if anything screws up just restore your backup.

Waiting until the 5Ghz is fixed before I flash this.

OK, playing around with GNex Toolkit. I have to unlock to backup my phone, but unlocking wipes my phone. How do I backup everything and then start the root process?

Pics and stuff will have to be backed up on your computer and then re-transferred. For apps, I think I used MyBackup Pro, though I probably just did a market restore when I logged into gmail upon initial boot.

Sadly, you'll lose phone data like texts and stuff, but as long as all your contacts are "google" contacts, those will be auto-added to the phone upon logging in.

I found Wug's easier to use with pretty clear instructions. I recall a feature that backs up your sd card before unlocking. Just my two cents.

The 7/13/2012 version has brought back the voice search initialization bug that occurs when plugged into a bluetooth headset I was having the same issue on other 4.1.1 ROMs but the 7/10/2012 released rom where you had to download the language pack did not have the issue. I am back on 7/10/2012 until I can figure out the work around for that issue. Maybe it has something to do with the language pack or did pete use a different voice search in this build.

Hey guys - I just wanted to check before I did it:

If Im already running the 7/12 version of BB...do I need to do a full wipe before I flash 7/13 version??? Or can I just wipe dalvik cache and get on with it?

Thanks in advance.
