[ROM][AOSP][10/31][JB] Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus

Re: [ROM][JB][AOSP] 4.1.1 Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus - 7/14/1

(1) Thanks.

(2) I apparently have a few but the majority are not for whatever reason. I retrieved about 10 of 50. If I log on to Verizon I can see all of them but when I try to sync them to my phone all I get is a text with random numbers and symbols.

Just flashed Bugless Beast after running Jelly Belly for the last week and a half. Lots of positive comments about BB around here so I figured that I would give it a whirl.

Sent from my Jelly Bean-equipped Galaxy Nexus

I did the same yesterday, I've been on JellyBelly since 1.8 and was always good to me.
But decided to see if the grass is greener.
Time will tell, but for now I can't tell a difference between them, both are solid, smooth(buttery), no issues either way.

Re: [ROM][JB][AOSP] 4.1.1 Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus - 7/14/1

anybody know how to get the toggles like BT wifi, etc. in your dropdown?
I like having a few there that I turn on and off regulary.

Thanks, this worked. It's going to take a little cutting and pasting to get the numbers in the right spot but it is better than manually entering on my phone or starting from scratch on Gmail.

BTW- I do have 1 complaint about JB. In my opinion the bootanimation sucks. But I changed it so all is better. That's why I love Android, if you don't like something , change it.

Download Power Controls or widgetsoid from the Play Store :).

Cache dalvik and system are wiped prior to flashing.

The flash went fine, but I only saw an option for "wipe cache", which I assumed was dalvik, I didn't see an option for system wipe.

The line above wipe cache portion that reads: wipe data/factory reset. Would be your system wipe.

Then scroll down to the line that reads: advanced. There you will find wipe dalvik cache.

Hope that helped.

Yes, that helps a lot, thanks! But if you do the "wipe data/factory reset" that will wipe your apps as well, correct? So, I don't want to do that if I am just doing a dirty flash up to the latest BB, right?

I am glad I didn't mess anything up by doing the "wipe cache partition" command!!

Correct, when you dirty flash, you don't need to do a data/factory wipe, just cache/dalvik.

And format system, especially if there are any framework mods. :)

Is Format System in the Advanced as well? (don't want to reboot into recovery just to check)

Awesome, thanks.

I told Pete on Twitter that I had not flashed this latest yet, and that if a new one was imminent, i would just wait, and he said to go ahead and flash. I take that to mean he is not currently working on a new version.

He's always working on them. But he's not the kinda dev to make unnecessary changes. Once the rom is stable he will slow down. You will still get updates as there are changes big enough to warrant one.
This is a selling point of the rom. You don't get pointless mods and changes for the sake of changes...

Did anyone else have some fairly extreme keyboard lag on the 7/14 update? I had to flash back to 7/13 because I couldn't take it.

Re: [ROM][JB][AOSP] 4.1.1 Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus - 7/14/1

I bought my Nexus back in May and have been running stock ICS since then. A few 4.0.4 bugs made me decide to give this ROM a try. I flashed in yesterday and have been extremely impressed so far. The speed and responsiveness of JB is awesome. Huge step forward from ICS (which was pretty darn good). Google Now is pretty cool and works well, I can definitely see myself using that often in the future.

I've only found two apps that don't work:
Light Flow
DailyMail Online

Both of those are known app issues that the developers are working on. Otherwise, this is a really great step forward and I'll likely stick with this ROM for the foreseeable future.

Re: [ROM][JB][AOSP] 4.1.1 Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus - 7/14/1

Hmm, so I think I missed wiping my Dalvik cache when I installed BB. I haven't had any obvious problems, but is it something I can go ahead and do now after the fact, or should I just not worry about it and consider myself lucky? (I did of course wipe and do a factory reset).

You can always go back and do it later. It's rebuilt on first boot afterwards.

Protip: Wipe data/factory reset on your Nexus wipes the cache and dalvik cache automatically ;)
