[ROM][AOSP][10/31][JB] Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus

Re: [ROM][AOSP][9/27][JB] Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus

It means he's synced up all the bits worth syncing up from the latest ota. Its all technical stuff..not features. Check his github commits for all the stuff he's pushed up.

You mean here?
Peter Alfonso: Bugless Beast 4.1.X Jelly Bean

I never have a clue what has actually been updated. Maybe I'm just ROM ignorant here. Not sure. But I can never tell what is new and if its worth updating to the latest build. I'm on the 9/14 now (or was it 9/7?) So what does syncing up all of the bits do? Makes it more stable? Makes it smoother?

Here will have the commits https://github.com/peteralfonso?tab=activity

The short answer is that you don't see change logs for Bugless because it's not CM10 or AKOP. That's not a knock on any ROM. They are all good, they are just different

You'll probably never see change logs for Bugless because;
1) It's an AOSP based ROM
2) Pete favors speed and stability over features so he doesn't add many

So, AOSP based ROMs are derived or built from the Android Open Source Project repository or repo. Google (and others) update the repo with new code and where it can be pulled down by ROM devs like Pete for ROMs like Bugless. The dev then adds in, takes out, or makes their changes and builds his ROM. You install their custom version of AOSP.

Now, AOSP gets new code added to it pretty regularly. There are also other files specific to each device that come from a host of other companies that get updated too. Those are called binaries usually. These are mostly device drivers for like the display or the radio or whatever. So, because AOSP is getting updated constantly with stuff, a good dev will sync up those changes into his ROM and release an update. Sometimes those fixes are minor bug fixes other times they are big but like any managed software, really big updates get reserved for major version increases.

Bottom line is the changes you seem coming in from AOSP, while important, aren't going to add anything changelog worthy unless you are jumping up a version. Since Pete doesn't add features, there's no real reason for a change log :)

But for those that care, the link above has everything. Things like "Update Toro proprietaries to JRO03O" or "Update Toro build fingerprint to JRO03O" or "fix Caller name disp not sticking for missed calls" or " show 3G icon for CDMA/1xRTT". Lots of stuff, just nothing particularly interesting.

I would update to this new version because of the binaries, make sure you are are on the latest bootloader and have the new radios too. Those are separate from bugless.

I appreciate the thorough response! Thanks!! How do I know if I have the latest bootloader?

On your comment of speed and stability - I can say this has definitely been the most stable ROM I've used. Only problem I've had is sometimes not being able to send MMS pictures, but I 'think' thave might have been corrected with the last build. I saw some other people experiencing it.

The boot loader is around xda has it...I just went and did a full restore using the restore images Google just released then rerooted and installed the latest bug less...that way I was sure I had all the latest bits.

I am on build JRO03R after I installed the latest 9/24 build. I just want to make sure this is correct. Thanks in advance!

Re: [ROM][AOSP][9/27][JB] Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus

I loaded up the latest verison and I can't get light flow to work. It works when I am in the app and am testing the led's but when I get new notifications the led doesn't activate.

Any suggestions?

Hmm, I haven't updated yet, but if that is a widespread problem it'll certainly keep me from updating.

Light flow works fine for me. Make sure its enabled in accessibility in settings.

Light Flow works fine for me on the 9/27 build. I did a clean install.

Re: [ROM][AOSP][9/27][JB] Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus

Running BB 9/27 and Franco M5 and my battery is dropping a few percentage point every 10 minutes it so. I was on auto for the screen but have shifted to custom at a very low percentage. Any idea on what I can do to help not destroy the battery and still be functional without being handicapped?

Re: [ROM][AOSP][9/27][JB] Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus

I've been running the 8/7 build completely stable for 47 days without a restart of any kind. Is there a good reason I should update to the 9/27? I'm tempted but I don't want to mess up a good thing going here :)

If you arent having issues with drop signal I would just sit tight. That's pretty impressive stability and if that's important to you I wouldnt mess with it.

I don't jump on every build. Stability is very important.

Anyone else noticing since the 9/27 update that their phone sits at charging 98-99% never fully going to charged?
