[ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.5.5 [Full Open Source]

Re: [ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.1.1 [Full Open Source]

I haven't run any benchmarks in a long time (since my Dinc) and don't plan on running anytime soon. I go by how my phone is running, if it's lagging or slow I try different kernels and or ROM but if it's fast and smooth like with CodeName I just enjoy.

i see the change log from rootzwiki. seems like a lot of stuff on the lock screen. i don't lock my phone so those won't do much for me. should i upgrade coming from 1.1.1? is there anything else that was improved? i know he commented there were other fixes as well.

I still would update there is much more then just the lock screen and the change log has been added to the OP here :)

Quick newb question (first ROM!).

When it says wipe everything, that includes wipe data/factory reset, right?

Yes, I already made a backup with Titanium.

EDIT: Nevermind, found the answer. And it is "yes".

I'll have to wait until I get home to install this, don't have GApps on my phone at the moment and the downloads don't appear to be working.

Just checked and it works for me maybe try it again.

Must be on my end, work tends to be a bit stupid when it comes to things like this, downloaded the ROM no problem, GApps apparently won't download, no biggy, have them on my home computer.

Running 1.1.4 with the LeanKernel. Lower slot set to 180 MHz at 400 mv. Upper slot kept at 1350. My GN couldn't handle 1420.
Everything running great!

Cool to read. Were there any significant changes to the smoothness of the ROM that you've noticed?

None. If you don't overclock to 1420, the ROM works well. Even with reduced voltage and interactiveX turned on.

Re: [ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.1.1 [Full Open Source]

Having problems. Everything was great when I first loaded and restored from Titanium. A couple of reboots, playing around, locking/unlocking the screen, beautiful. FAST!

Then I started playing with a bunch of the Codename settings. Activated Light Flow, added apps to the lock screen, etc. Now I get an instant reboot whenever I touch the lock symbol on the lock screen. I'm locked out!

Can I just reflash the ROM over the existing one? Do I still need to clear everything? Maybe I can just wipe cache without having to do a factory reset? My first ROM here, would love some help.

UPDATE: I got back in. When the phone rebooted I held all three buttons (trying to get into Recovery) and it put me into Safe Mode (didn't know there was such a thing!) Anyhow, in safe mode I was able to access the settings and put the lock screen back to stock. No problems now. So maybe there is something wrong with the lockscreen customization?

So are you guys installing 1.1.4 overtop of 1.1.1 or are you wiping again?

If you are always wiping to install, what are you guys doing to redo your folders etc or do you not group your apps?

Titanium backup to restore the apps.

Go launcher EX can backup/restore the layout of your screens. It is available in the market.

Nova launcher is in beta and not in the market, but it can as well.

yep been using TB for years.
I hate Go products...last launcher I used was adw.
I like stock so I haven't played with Nova yet...

Thanks!

Always do complete wipes unless specifically instructed that its ok to just wipe cache/dalvik or something like that. Codename's OP specifically says MUST WIPE for 1.1.4.
:)

EDIT: And as stated above me.. yeah just use TiBu to restore user apps/data (NOT system apps or system data).. Nova launcher works great to backup your homescreens.

This is the first phone I have flashed a custom ROM to. The first time I restored, I was a little disappointed that TiBackup didn't restore the folders to my home screens. I was very happy with the stock ICS launcher and interface in general. Then I read that Nova could restore my folders and gave that a try. It worked well for the week or so I used it as a default. It is still in beta but seems to be frequently updated, so the support should be good. I am using Go Launcher right now just to give it a test run. It works well and has more features than Nova (at the moment, who knows where the devs will take Nova) but to me, it doesn't feel like it was built for ICS. I'll probably keep it a bit longer just to give it a fair test, but I expect I'm going back to Nova.

Re: [ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.1.1 [Full Open Source]

Next time just hold down your power button and you will have the option to reboot then pick recovery much easier then using Rom Manager IMO.

Also if you like the stock launcher try Nova which is just like stock with some added options one being able to restore your home screens which is a must for anyone who flashes a lot.

Re: [ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.1.1 [Full Open Source]

Just a warning guys I flashed the Black and Cyan Theme and the phone would completely boot and had to wipe and flash again. I will update the mods/theme links once they have been updated.

I'm having the same issue it appears to be related to the lockscreen options.
