[ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.5.5 [Full Open Source]

Re: [ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.1.1 [Full Open Source]

Flash theme just like a rom. If you dont like the theme reflash the rom, it will remove the theme.

Thank you. However, I don't think I should delete the data and cache when I am installing the theme, right? How about when I am removing the theme? Do I have to delete the data and cache? Sorry for all these noobie questions.

I dont think there is a need to delete data and cache when installing. Its normally good practice to do so though when removing anything from your phone - themes, add-ons, etc.

under MISC options, does anyone know what "CRT off animation" does? i turned it off but can't notice a difference. i thought it dealt with that boot animation, but that is the same as well.

When you press power off the screen shuts down like an old crt TV. I'm going to test.

Edit - works for me. With it off there is no animation when you power off the screen.

Old CRT TV Animation.

You can now go into developer settings and turn off window and transition animations, but still keep the CRT Animation. Turning off both animations makes your phone fly. Normally you would have to keep window animation set to +1.

ahh nice, thanks! i still keep mine on 0.5. i like a little animation. but the CRT off style, i def don't need that anymore. i'm sure it uses a little more power than a regular style screen off.

So guys I am new to flashing roms and I love how my Nexus turned out with the Codename Android 1.1.4 with the google apps

I am hearing folks talk about kernals and things like that. What is that all about?

Is there something else I should do to better the experience?

How about changing the up load scheme with all those colors. Something different perhaps?

As you may know, this phone is very robust as far as the development scene goes. There are many top guys developing for the GN. As such you are on just one of the many roms this phone has to choose from. Kernels are another piece of software that you can flash onto your phone. In short, kernels are the link between the rom and the hardware. There are lots to choose from and from my experience, they all work fine, maybe some just a bit better than others. There are no shortage of kernel developers. I am very happy with franco kernel atm. Pick one and try it out...they get flashed like roms in cwm with a cache/dalvik wipe. The big feature with custom kernels is you can overclock and undervolt.

The load up scheme you mention is called a bootanimation and there are tons that you can change up to customize the boot up. PM me if you need some help loading a bootanimation and where you can find some.

Not necessary to wipe data to flash a theme, but its usually good practice to wipe cache and davlik when flashing any non-rom

Re: [ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.1.1 [Full Open Source]

This build, 1.1.4, has worked the best for me all around so far (battery wise most important). Running the stock kernel that came with. Couldn't be happier so far.

I would try wiping and installing again sounds like something didn't flash right.

OP stands for original post or Original poster

Re: [ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.1.1 [Full Open Source]

I am noticing some lag with gps locking in on version 1.1.4 vs the 1.1.1.
I also noticed that Rom Manager wasn't getting SU permissions, so I uninstalled RM updates and then all was good.....with regards to SU permissions.....GPS needs to be more accurate though.

Instead of flashing gapps, could I just restore my google apps from my titanium backup?

Sorry that won't work you will need to flash GApps TB doesn't back up those Google Apps.
