[ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.5.5 [Full Open Source]

In 1.5.5 I've had the apps in two of my folders randomly rearrange themselves a couple of times. Each time both folders were affected and only those folders so far. Very odd.

How many apps do you have in the folders? I haven't paid attention to this but the most apps I have in any folder is 4 and didn't have them ordered in any way. Will definitely try to pay attention now.

For me, I set up my home screen much like it was with stock from Verizon. So, I had a "Google" folder on the main home screen that had all of the Google apps (Calendar, Maps, Navigation, Voice, Talk, etc.). With that, there were quite a few apps. I set up the folder such that the apps were in alphabetical order. But, sometime afterwards, the order was changed and it wasn't alphabetical order any longer. Since I had a definite order to them, I noticed the change right away.

It happened again. Three times now. Quite a few apps in the problem folders (14 and 16), not many in the others (4 and 8).

I'm sure this is answered somehere but i was hoping to get a quick reply so I could start this process! I am currently running my first rom on my first android device...(Codename 1 .3) I'm obviously new to this and I want to upgrade to 1.5.5. I have Titanium backup Pro installed and just ran a system back-up through Clockwork Mod. Is there a good way to back up all the settings (email accounts, homescreens, etc) so everything will automatically transfer to the new rom or do i need to set up all those things again with every flash?

I've been liking Codename 1.5 a LOT, but one big problem. About once a day, predictably, I get a total lockup of the phone. Completely unresponsive, have to pull the battery to reset. I'm pretty sure this is related to Handcent (I think it only happens when I use Handcent).

I've also flashed 4.0.4 radios.

Has anyone else noticed this? Kind of a problem for me as it SUCKS to remove my case and pull the battery when the phone locks up. Maybe upgrading to 1.5.5 will fix it? I could roll back the radio, but 4.0.4 is SO much better (no data drops!).

Those things are data so u usually don't restore them. You can use nova launcher, however, to back up home screen layouts and restore them on the updated rom.

As for emails, if you mean the actual emails, not the settings, there are apps in the store that back those up and restore them for ya. But Google restores Gmail for you anyway.

Basically, system data doesn't get restored (shouldn't) because it often causes problems from 1 rom to the next.

There is also an app called my backup that works like tib but backs up your home screens if you don't use nova launcher.

Having the same issue not once a day though and not running hands cent. Seems to happen when I go to do a pattern unlock.

Hi all, definitely still having a total lockup situation here. I've updated to 1.5.5 but it still seems to completely freeze once a day. Just now it froze and I was not using Handcent. What should I do? Total wipe and start from scratch? It's really, really annoying having to dismantle the case and pull the battery once a day!

Does it happen with other roms? Or did it happen on a previous build of Codename?

I would probably do a clean install - clear data, cache partition, dalvik cache (under advanced), and format /system (under mounts and storage). Then, install the rom and install gapps (make sure it's the correct gapps package for the build of the rom you are flashing).

Afterwards, make sure you don't restore system data AT ALL (through Titanium backup) to be on the safe side. User data (such as data from games you've downloaded, etc) is safer but to be on the safe side, and to root out the problem, i would only restore user data minimally, if at all.

This is the first ROM I've flashed since rooting, and I did do all that originally. I didn't even use Titanium, I just manually installed all the apps. Pretty sure I did everything by the book, and I've done it frequently in the past on my old phone without issues.

The phone and ROM runs perfectly most of the time, until I get that total freeze. Literally once per day this happens.

Hey everyone, I am currently on cm9 build 17 for galaxy S and I want to know if Codename android is better than cyanogenmod? Please tell me how it is better/worse. :)

Hi, I loaded this last night coming from 1.5 and had some issues with Nova Launcher prime when trying to re-add my widgets. Nova would force close eveytime I tried to add one to a screen. Yes, I did a full wipe etc...

Has anyone had this happen?

I had an issue with nova launcher at first but after several hours it cured itself, and it runs smooth with no issues.

I have tried just about every other 4.0 rom for the Gnax and I kept coming back to CN. So far it's the smoothest, ROM I've used, with tons of added mods. I have no plans to try anything else. totally happy.

Might be somehting with your radio - or signal. Which radio are you using and have you tried others?
