Thanks to O.a.T. for your reply.

Based on the answer, I'm still unclear becaue you said the "ROM is aospCMod...." but both options begin with aospCMod; is it:
aospCMod-OV-20110403-signed.zip
OR
aospCMod-OV-to-sprint-signed.zip

And, is the proper file for OV to Sprint.zip is: OV-to-sprint-20110403-signed.zip ???

Sorry to bother you guys; I appreciate your help!

Thanks!

Sorry, I edit my first post and you must have not seen it. OV-to-sprint-20110403-signed.zip is just the update for the other file so you only need that one.

The way I understand it, you need the Optimus V rom which is here: aospCMod-OV-20110403-signed.zip

..... and OV-to-sprint-20110403-signed.zip which is here: xda-developers

Sorry for all the edits but to clear it up, OV-to-sprint-20110403-signed.zip is just a update for aospCMod-OV-to-sprint-signed.zip. Let me know if I'm wrong.

Perfect! Thank you so much for your help.
If it would be helpful, I'd be happy to write-up new installation instructions based on my installation question with a step-by-step guide for to be included in the OP.

Anyway to get Google Navigation back?

Also I'm really missing Swype. If I flash back to a different ROM how would I pull Swype out of it to intall it on CM7? I tried backing up with Titanium but that didn't work. I'm thinking I'm going to have to do the same thing with Google Navigation, no?

Google Navigation is part of Maps. Did you flash the Gapps? As far as swype goes, I think you will have to sign up for the beta and download it from swype. If you try to restore it from your stock rom, it won't work.

You must sign up for the beta in order to get swype. Also any apk that you want from another rom is in side the rom zip folder in the app folder.

Swyped from my Gingerbread'ed Optimus S

Yes I did the Gapps. For some reason the Navigation wasn't showing up, but Maps was. After a reboot it's there now. Weird.

Thanks for the info, good to know.

Off to sign up for the beta. [edit: here's the link for the beta: http://beta.swype.com/ ]

I am about to switch from my Hero running this rom to the Optimus S. When I do, will I be able to root the phone using the directions on AOSP's wiki (Install from Stock Optimus - ROMRepo) or do I have to use the method in this forum's stickies?

Follow the stickies in the forum if you are on Sprint. VD is the newest radio so you will need to follow that if you just got the phone. Check in about phone to see what version of firmware you have.

I know the Optimus V forums shows people using fastboot. I never rooted that way but it is much easier to get a custom recovery on if you know how to use fastboot. HeroC had fastboot locked unless you used s-off. I guess Optimus V leaves it free. Not sure about the Optimus S.

FitChicago thanks for the offer of help. I have been meaning to do that but just haven't had time to format my phone and start from scratch to document it right from a clean phone.

If you put something together we will get it put in the wiki in a Optimus Sprint section that rides along side of the Optimus Virgin section.

Please, someone write a good install guide for this. I am very confused. Pretty please. :)

Installing this rom isn't much different than installing any other rom. More specifically, you could look at zefie's Scott Pilgrim cm7 rom install instructions and get a very good idea as what to do here. There is one additional flash in this case since the rom was originally developed for the Optimus V. More importantly though, are you already rooted and do you have a custom recovery installed?

The basic, barbones instructions are as follows:

1. Have an optimus S.
2. root your phone.
3. install custom recovery (preferrably xionia's CWM, but others will probably work as well...
4. download the rom from the OP of the xda thread. The latest one. It's intended for the optimus V, but that's okay for now.
5. download the latest gapps (google apps) zip. You'll need that as well.
6. download the "...OV-to-sprint..." zip file linked in the OP of this thread. It should have the same date signature of the optimus V rom you downloaded. If it doesn't, then that means the conversion from S to V for the latest version of the rom hasn't been done yet. Go find an older version that matches, or wait for the newer version of the patch zip to be released.
7. reboot into recovery
8. make nandroid backup
9. wipe everything except for the sd card (data, system, caches)
10. flash the optimus V rom
11. flash the patch zip to convert it for use on the optimus S
12. flash the gapps (google apps) zip file
13. reboot, and enjoy.

FitChicago, that should give you a structure to work with. It's essentially the same idea as what's been written up for scott pilgrim, but with the extra step of the conversion zip, which needs to have the same datestamp. I'd do a bit of more detailed writing myself if I didn't have other work I should be doing ;)

Thanks for taking the time to write these steps out. I followed the steps you outlined, but I don't have a data connection. It isn't connecting at all to 3G data, and there is a roaming triangle next to the signal bars.

Does this indicate I did something wrong in the process?

Thanks!

EDIT: In the wireless settings, I enabled "International Data Roaming" and I am now connected to data. I will hold off to see if it goes out of roaming or stays roaming.

EDIT: All seems to be working now, but now I am wondering how to get it force roam.

Does anyone know how I can force roaming on this ROM? I tried the two ways that I have used in the past (LG hidden menu, and Roam Override app), but neither seems to work.

Pretty sure hidden menu app doesn't work in gingerbread. I've tried it in this build and scott pilgrim - nada. Luckily my signal has been slightly better to the point that I don't really need to force roam anyway ever since I upgraded to VD radio. Have you done that yet? Might help..

Sounds like you got everything else working fine.. Sometimes I've noticed it takes a bit of time to get out of roam, so I'll toggle airplane mode which seems to help. Also, oddly enough, instead of "roaming", my phone says "00o/0" or something like that, kindof funny actually, since everything is fine otherwise :D

Did anyone loose the standard messaging with the new update (04/15) and the older (04/03) OV to Sprint zip? I've installed GoSMS that works for SMS and sending MMS, but does not work for rec'ving MMS.

I was expecting my battery life to be better, but so far it has been worse than what I was getting on nROM. Are there any tricks?
