Do not flash if the MD5 does not match. It means what you downloaded is different from what the dev uploaded. Flashing a bad download can do bad things to your phone so hold off until you get a good download.

Okay, thanks for the confirmation. But that leads me to my next question; If I downloaded this twice from the same link from DroidTh3ory's web site, why is the file always different and the wrong one? Has his site been hacked with the wrong file? How do I get the right file? Thanks.

His server is probably getting hammered since so many folks are off today so that could be causing the bad downloads. There's a bunch of mirrors that you can try in the second post of the rootzwiki thread.

It took me 4 downloads to get it. 3 to the PC failed to come up right and were about half the size, but the one I did on my phone from a mirror worked fine. I think there is just too much traffic.

Wipes Suck :'(

The apps DL just fine but setting up all of the options blow. I know it is part of it but I am waiting for MW3 to finish DL'ing and then I have to wipe my phone ...

Yes wipes suck, but if you have Titanium Backup, after they download, you can just go through and have it restore data (which includes any settings you had) to the apps that it matters on. Takes me about 5 minutes or less. Also, if you take screen shots (hold down the down volume and the power keys at the same time) of your home pages before you wipe, copy those few images to your PC, you can pull them up for an easy visual aid, and it just takes a another few minutes to have your screen back like they were. I know that a launcher can do this even faster, but I really don't want a third party launcher on my phone.

Nova launcher just works alongside ICS. It has all of the same look and functionality of the stock launcher, just a bunch of extra options like the screen restore and lots of homescreen grid options, cube scroll etc. I love not having to put all my apps back into stacks/folders and move them where they were. Seems silly to be into custom ROMs and be against a better launcher.

I installed Nova and it is really nice. Combines some of the options Go Launcher had that I liked.

I do have Titanium Pro and I do restore somethings but some things I think it is best to start fresh. Th3ory does not really like Titanium either ...

Weird thing is that I got everything back on and a game called paper zombie FC's on me know. I just played it last night on 2.2. Stupid game but got to stay ahead of the kids ;)

EDIT 2: Also note.. make sure you check the md5 once the file is ON your phone, not just computer. If you have Root Explorer you can long press the file, hit properties, and in a few secs it will tell you the md5. I believe many other file explorers behave similarly.

Jeez, I never knew root explorer did that. I have this app called md5 hash checker and it's a drag to use. Now I can delete that dumb app. Thx

The reason Th3ory doesn't like TiBu is because people don't read before they play with their phones and it is way too easy to restore system data with TiBu which can cause havoc on a new ROM. It isn't anything about the app itself. I can't count the number of people asking if they need to wipe in that thread even though it is all over the OP in caps and about every 4th post. No point in wiping if you are just going to restore system data with Tibu after, lol.

I mostly use it to restore APP data to the few that don't restore and need it and use Nova for the screen layouts restore (which it does automatically)

This 2.3 has been my favorite so far (I think I started at 1.8). On my phone, it's noticeably quicker to respond to everything...moving between home screens, pulling down the notifications bar, launching apps. Not a single reboot.

Im having issues flashing 2.3 it says aborted. Im on 2.2 now any ideas I have tried downloading it twice and both times it wont work. I did wipe everything and also tried just cache.Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Do you verify the MD5 checksum to confirm that your download was good?

Also try reflashing cwr via rom manager.. Don't know why but I saw that this helped a number of ppl whose installs kept aborting.

I spend a lot of time reading that thread so I knew what I was supposed to do ;) I think sometimes a full wipe is overkill but from a troubleshooting standpoint, I can see why a clean slate is the way to go. The app auto restore on ICS is great but setting up ringtones and misc. things still takes time.

I told myself that moving to the nexus would save me time as there was no bloat. LOL, did not happen.

v2.3 is the first rom i've put on my gnex. It's awesome.... especially coming from the droidx cm7 nightlies that was riddled with bugs. Great stuff going on here.
