Download alpha 8, extract them and adb push to alpha 9.

Sorry...i'm new at this....is it as easy as pulling camera.apk from the alpha 8 update.zip and pushing it to the phone?

Yes, or if you do not want to mess with adb, you can pull the camera.apk from the alpha 8 zip and then replace the one in the alpha 9 zip and flash. You will get a signature fail unless you turn verification off first.

No worries, i'm fine with adb and shell commands, i just wasn't clear on whether there were other system files/drivers that control camera that I needed to pull/push. Thanks!

I'm no expert, and CM9 might be different, but as I understand, the apk has all the needed files. If in doubt, wait for @thekraven to reply. It IS an alpha, so you can always nand back if needed.

The phone force closing was a real hag I tried flashing it over and over again to debug the problem. So I had to reflash cm7 til its fixed, goin back seems like I just got degenerated to a first gen-ape.

For reference...
I did pull the camera.apk from alpha 8, remove camera.apk [a9] from /system/app, then adb install camera.apk [a8]. I tried opening it, didn't work, so i wiped cache & dalvik and rebooted. Camera opened, then froze when I tried to take a picture. Phone rebooted. tried opening the app again, and phone froze while attempting to open, rebooted again. Opened up Camera, attempted to take a picture, froze, rebooted. HOWEVER i am running iscreamkernel. I'm going to try a few more things...


EDIT: Word of advice, don't get curious and try pushing a9 boot.img to sdcard and "flash_image boot /sdcard/boot.img" to get back the kernel... = unbootable

Your welcome. I hope that thekraven puts together either alpha ten or beta 1 with all of the fixes and a patch to make the camera work again. I would love for the native tether app to be turned on and working to seeing as data an wifi are working correctly now. I know he is busy I'm sure. Give him time and he will get these bugs fixed. I still can't download any of the files from Goo. I can't even get alpha nine yet. I am waiting to see if a beta or an alpha ten shows up.

Dear thekraven, I have discovered that my Tablet will only connect to an infrastructure network. This is why the root tether apps will not show up for me. I absolutely love your ROMs and wont to run CM9 as my daily driver now that data and wiffi are playing nice. The problem is that with CM7 I can use the native tether and My tablet can connect to it and with CM9 the native tether is turned off. Can you please look into turning it on and fixing it where it is supported like you did with your CM7? My phone is my only source for the internet. My laptop will connect to the root tether just fine, but I use my Tablet much more. I will be very grateful if you do this for me. Thank you very much.

My camera just gives me a black screen. ( for those who do have their camera did you do a dirty flash? )

Also, when did MMS get fixed?! three picture messages this morning with no problems downloading them! It didn't dawn on me till a moment ago... "wait it worked?!" lol

were you using the the stock text message app to receive the pictures. And can you send you self a an mms because I can't send my self an Man. I'll see if I can have some one send me an mms
