[ROM] CyanogenMod 7.1 RC1

Newest nightly from TD site is working fine. The build.prop check now accepts captivate, so no issues installing. Go get it!

@pittsm-did you get it worked out?

woke up to find the nightly was working. so i flashed that first, still can't get incoming calls to come through. so frustrating, because everything else about the rom is perfect. If i could just get this one thing figured out it'd be great!

flashed stock and then to cm7, still can't get incoming calls to ring through. i'm officially giving up. i'll stick with 2.2 for awhile longer :(

You may be on one of the captivates that can't use i9000 modems. Did you try the kb1 in the source forge? It has horrible voice quality but it should work.

How has everyones battery life been? I unplugged this morning around 6:30am and down below 50% by 11:30am. I've received one call, sent a few texts, and checked email a couple of times. I hadn't sent any emails, and its been in my pocket most of the day.

I'm really hoping the battery gauge just isn't accurate.

I'm not sure about battery life anymore. It usually isn't going to be as good as Samsung ROMs, but I've heard a bunch of people claim their battery is better on CM7. Mine is worse, but it's made it to the point that I can get through a day on one battery. It's more of a personal experience thing.

Haha, no problem. Constant flashing can do that to you.

To test, disable your GPS toggle for a while and see if that helps. Maps and Beautiful Widgets in my case both cause severe battery drain on 2.3 ROMs. It seems to be related to Geolocation, and it gets better if I disable it in BW and do NOT sign in to Latitude. If you check your battery stats and see Maps as a far higher battery sucker than normal, that is a good indication of this problem.

Quick update: Atinm says that the most recent builds are broken. They're still working on the merging, since the nightlies are built automatically now. Stay tuned.

another 2 questions:
1. do I need to odin?
2. I'm running serendipity 6.4, so do I need to flash another kernel, or is there one included when I flash the ROM

That may explain what I was seeing. I was having several, small-ish, issues and ended up flashing back to Mosaic. I will keep watch for updates.

The new CM does not require Odin. CM requires different kernels than anything else, and their ROMs do include a kernel built in. There are also a couple custom kernels out there, but stick with stock initially. The custom CM kernels seem pretty bleeding edge (OC), and I was actually getting worse performance with them than stock, though according to posters more knowledgeable than I, the builds I was on are suspect to errors anyway, so I doubt that is normal.

EDIT- Coming back from CM will require Odin however.

Forgot to post this last night, but nightly 9 is good to go.

when you say coming back, do you mean flashing another rom, restoring a backup of a ROM, or both?

Anything that involves a Samsung based ROM requires Odin from CM. Anything that uses CM style partitioning (CM/MIUI/Sense port) can be done just in CWM.

Hey pittsm, I just realized I was having the same problem with calls as you are (I never use the phone :p). Try the latest nightly, seemed to have fixed it.

ls377,
i noticed the link for the instructions to install was broken. just thought i'd let you know. Plus, i went to ROM Manager, and I didn't find the Team Hacksung thing to download from
