Good job Lance!! Hey believe me, I'm fairly new to all this ROM and rooting business but it has most definitely prolonged the use of my Epic 4g in a very good way!! If you have any questions, just ask and we'll try to help out as much as we can. Welcome to Android ICS 4.0.4 on your Epic 4G! :)

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-BETA-0

Beta 2 seems to be a lot speedier than beta 1. I've always noticed a bit of lag when pressing the buttons onscreen (especially in the settings) where the 'fading' effect on the button would take a couple of seconds to go through the animation. Now that's gone! Not to mention the fact that it's on 4.0.4! This is a great ROM and just shows that the Epic 4G still has some kick in it.

I agree!!

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-BETA-0

.......the Epic CM Team was advising a complete wipe when we updated Android 4.0.3 to Android 4.0.4 during the 'Test 4.0.4' phase as a matter of course --aka good judgement-- as unknown things are often known to come up w/ these types of OS updates...............yet a number of users who flashed dirty installs --+ didn't wipe data-- appear to be running ok at the moment........from my experience IF your CM9Beta2 begins to show erratic behaviour, YES you can do the clean install at that point..........but do bear in mind: always good practice to keep a good recent Nandroid backup current on your sd card, if only to secure your data.

What information is it that you lose when you wipe again?? I may just do a clean wipe since like you, this will probably be my last ROM on this phone till I get my Galaxy S 3 with quad core! ;).....or at least till it comes out, lol!

Thanks for the info Sonarchist!

I'm coming from beta 1 to beta 2. I realize that the gapps file is the same. So do i need to reflash gapps or just the updated beta file?

A full wipe/factory reset loses your app settings, as well as your launcher settings + other data.........hence the hesitation for clean installs which require re-setting of username + passwords etc for your email + social media accounts..........however, from a clean install google will ask if you'd like for it to install all of the apps that it 'remembered' from your previous ROM + then will proceed to populate your new app drawer w/ all of your recent apps, kinda nifty.......then you setup your launcher the way you had it previously...........most of us can redo a setup in about a half hour...........but then there are those w/ 300+ apps LOL!

Also, decided to flash GApps-17 right after flashing Beta2, even though the install notes do not call for this.............I have been testing several ROMs + been jumping back + forth (thnx to some exceptionally good Nandroids!)..........so it's a Can't Hurt sorta thing for those updating from Beta1 to Beta2........also: if you don't flash GApps + experience issues, you can always reflash both Beta2 + GApps on your second go-round. ;)

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-BETA-0

I loaded beta 2 last night and love it. Keep up the good work.

It seems my wifi is very slow when connecting to anything other than N. I was thinking of trying the FC09 modem could this help and I was not 100% sure how to do this. Then if I wanted to go back to EL30. What does that entail? New to the rom and flashing but not a total noob. I have been using a nook color booting off sdcard for a long time

The modems only affect the signal from your carrier (Sprint), so it may just be that Beta 2 causes the slash in Wifi performance (I'm kind of noticing it but it's not that big of a deal). The FC09 modem and any other modem could go with any other ROM. If you really wanted to, you could have the FC09 modem on an EC05 ROM.

Install went really smooth.

In the dialer hit menu, preferences, and uncheck voicemail notifications. You should then only get notifications from the Google Voice application.

Hard to know the synopsis leading to the 3 issues described........except that you 'installed this on your phone'.............w/out data you've possibly flashed a bad download, chk to make sure your md5 is matched to this ROM --on OP-- then re-flash correct DL...........also, if flashing for first time, be sure to flash GApps-17.

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-BETA-0

All Right Then....One week after the release of CM9 Beta 2 + several polls, here's a View Forward towards Beta 3 (or not):

Cyanogenmod Epic 4G

Lots of stuff going on currently w/ CM9 development + it appears that we've arrived at that place of stability where it makes prudent good sense to take a deep breath + look inward + outward: then ask all of the right questions going forward...............this past week saw several end-user polls that may indirectly serve to stimulate potential paths for future development by the Epic CM Team: lots more burning questions!!!..............if interested, pls DO plug in to said dialog by viewing the current CM Blog (link above this paragraph).

LOL: was booting the recent 'Temp-Boot-to-FC09-from-SD-Card' (btw, a vast improvement from EL30) when a couple quick messages came up on my screen as I was awaiting the Media Scan to complete: 1 was simply asking whether it should install the Connections Optimizer (I clicked YES); the 2nd one, a text announcing the start of the Galaxy Nexus pre-order online...........meanwhile, the Media Scanner completed its scan on the Temp FC09 Boot!...............am making mention of this here simply to say that this clever tool has really come a long way since January + has finally arrived as a very easy tool to DL + use................. am glad to have it installed on the SD Card for future use as this handy little fix is currently one of the only ways to Update Profile + Update PRL (as well as several others tricks) on the og Epic4G..............pls disregard the form factor of the following post that I found on XDA, but it serves to illustrate the nature + importance of having development that is willing to take things further, one step at a time:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24938561&postcount=1498

....................+ speaking of pre-order, anybody here already on the list for the Gnex?...........alternatively, anybody here patiently awaiting the May 3rd London announcements regarding SGS III?...................feels like that quiet moment before the storm, yeah?!? Still, I remain pretty excited staggering between my laptop + the og Epic4G + will await the proper moment to make considerations that embrace change.........................thoughts? pls post here!
