Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

The screen sensitivity can also be attributed to the kernel and possibly a tweak I did but I don't think the tweak would cause that. I can make a patch if you are willing to test it. But I am thinking its more of a kernel issue. Not sure 100% though.

A lot of issues people see with the stock ZVH update I dont see. Some see them some dont. For example, my phone charges perfect on USB, just like Mikes. Some people cant. Why? IDK! lol

As far as Apps2sd I will incorp that in the next ROM although... I don't like the idea of it... I will make two versions. One with and one without.

I'm working on my main device and work on this one when I bored with the 3D so you wont see another update prolly until at least this weekend. Not sure. Just take it as it comes.

I'd be willing to try that patch for the screen sensitivity before reverting back to the zvd radio. Mine is really bad and is making my phone unusable because it's so frustrating. Typing is bad enough, but long pressing and dragging things around is impossible.

Just an FYI to all: Super user was updated yesterday or today. The update is causing mass force close issues on all E3D ROMS across all developers. I am not sure how its been on Optimus. has anyone updated? If you did can you please post your results?
No problems here either with the su update. There is also a binary update for su as well, so make sure both are updated as well.

I too would like to try a patch (or anything short of reverting to VD) that attempts to fix the screen sensitivity.

It may be helpful to know that I did NOT have this problem with the stock Gingerbread from sprint. Only once I flashed gRom did this sensitivity issue come up.

The sensitivity is exacerbated often with overclocking. Try lowering your max cpu speed, and possibly a different governor. I use interactivex with little issue anymore, though I had horrid sensitivity on stock rom. Just a thoughts

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

The rom is great, like the new default look, my phone has just acted strangely after updating to ZVH, GRom 1.1 now the latest 2.1, randomly shuts off, only charges from specific plugs, randomly cant connect to sprint network, work nicely before the base-band update, phone or software? ... hmmm

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

I have been using this ROM for 5 days now, and I do not have any issues with it whatsoever. I'm using the ROM just the way it is, i didn't OC it anymore than it already is. I do not have screen sensitivity issues, nor the sprint network issues (although that may have to do with location). After I installed the ROM, i did Update PRL a few times, and every time I did, it found and update the PRL. Might resolve the network connectivity issues for people who are having this issue.

Great job and a great big thanks to scrosler.

No problems here either with su update. Running just as smooth as ever. Great work.

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

Has anyone tried any other overclockable kernels with this ROM? My video camera flickers with GingerKernel 5.1 and 6.2 at speeds above 600. Flickering gets worse with higher clock speeds.

UPDATE: Using new SavagedZen governor (incl. in GingerKernel 6.2) seems to solve this problem.

Since the new update, my phone shuts off from time to time for no apparent reason. any ideas ?

Are you overclocked?

Quick question about the ROM Updater. I noticed your description says the downloaded zips are supposed to get flashed automatically when the phone reboots into recovery....is that a mistake? When I choose "Apply Now" the phone reboots into recovery and does absolutely nothing by itself. I have to choose a zip and then locate and flash it manually....just like always.

Did you set Rom updater up properly according to the OP? I tried to flash the grom theme and it just booted into recovery and didn't do anything. I don't know if that is because it was not needed as it was already installed or if the phone simply needed to be rebooted after rom updater was set up. Try again after a fresh reboot, making sure it is properly set up first.

Yes ROM updater is configured properly....otherwise I wouldn't even see the themes and such to download :)

Edit: Okay yesterday I tried a theme and a couple of fonts and I had to flash each manually. Today I tried the grey dialer which I had to flash manually but I then tried a couple more fonts and this time they did automatically flash. Nothing changed between downloads/attempts so I have no clue why I'm getting about a 50% "no touch" rate.

I edited my post with another few thoughts. Perhaps try flashing a different theme now that you have rebooted the phone.

Its technically a flaw with the recovery and or how it processes transaction in /data/recovery/cache or something like that.

I had it happent o me a few times to. Just flash manually and reboot. But I tried every single theme / font / ringtone in the updater and out of all of them it happneed like 2 times to me. The other 50+ times it was fine.

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

Thanks for all the feedback on SU. Its strange we see it on E3D. Sucks actually.

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

I think between that power widget in the notification drop down, the reboot and recovery options when the power button is pressed and the ability to group apps in the drawer would make this rom perfection for me.

Couldn't agree more, this rom is smooth and so far excellent battery life. I was using reborn for a long time but it started to act up and I wanted to try something fresh. The power widget, wake only by power button, and the power menu reboot/recovery are the only thing I miss.

All in all great ROM!
Big thanks Scott!

I have to agree this is the best most stable rom I've used yet. I fixed my screen flicker with the stock kernel in the optiRom thread. I'd love the addition of power menu reboot/recovery! :) thanks Scott!

Your welcome guys. I will eventually get to the additional power options. I have 4 ROMS out so its hard for me to split my time. I dont even use the Optimus any more since I got my Evo 3D (on launch day) so I am sure you can see why I dont spend as much time on this ROM ;) Not to mention I have a job and wife and pets (all of which can barely recognize me any more I spend so much time making ROMS! lol)

Right now the ROM is fast and stable with lots of features in ROM Updater. I think its a great option for those that choose to take a step into the realm of custom ROMS.

But one day I WILL get to those features you are asking for. Its only a matter of time :c)

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

Hi,

I've been using this ROM since V1 and I have a few questions and comments.

First, everything is now working well for me and I really like ROM updater.

But also, I did have a few issues when I initially updated to the VH radio and gRom. I had the screen sensitivity issue that others have had, but that cleared up on it's own after a few hours. I also had the SD card unmounting randomly issue that I thought was fixed back in the froyo days and battery life was also far worse after updating (~45% time without signal in battery stats).

Now just a few days ago, I went into settings and updated profile and PRL. Since i did this, the phone seems to be perfect. No more SD card unmounts and 0% time without signal.

Is it even possible that updating profile and PRL could resolve these issues and if it is, why isn't step 6 in the "how to flash" section say to update profile and PRL?
