Scott -
I do have one question - on the ROM updater - my server list is completely blank and I can't find a list of servers to add in. Any help would be appreciated.

From the very first post on the very first page:

I miss some things from Cyanogenmod, but this ROM is awesome :D

Two small things I have noted though, seems that WiFI likes to not turn on after a reboot, and my lower hard keys will sometimes stop working, requiring a reboot. But it's still a pretty nice ROM.

Is there a known issues/bug log? I'm really exceited about trying gROM (which would be my first root/custom ROM) but before I take the plunge, I'd like to see what the issues are (without having to read through 108 pages of comments). I'm most concerned about WiFi tether. I really need that to work.
Yes, the confirmed known issues are in the second post. Its a very tiny list so I am sure you just overlooked it. No, its not really tiny, its just one minor thing that calls for a reboot after installation, lol.

If its a bug and not in that list... Its not a bug confirmed by me. I may be adding weird push notification issues but still testing it out as diff users have diff results.

I just want to thank you for all the hard work you've obviously put into this. I followed all the instructions in other threads and am the proud papa of a very quick-seeming phone. Kudos and thanks.

If it seems quick... It is quick! lol

Your welcome!

I missed the 2.1.5 update.. Can I go directly from 2.1 to 2.2? (May be a dumb question)

Yes you can.

My Exchange emails push just fine. Between my work PC, my Iconia Tab and the Optimus, they all ding withing a second of each other when an email pops up in my exchange email box.

Hmmm... Interesting.

Yep!

Scott -

First - Thanks for the ROM. This was my first time rooting/installing a custom ROM and to say I was a little nervous a couple of times is an understatement. The difference from stock gingerbread is amazing. Much faster. Much cleaner. All around great. I was having a few nagging issues with the 2.3.3 from LG and this seems to have taken care of every issue I was having. (completely installing from a clean phone probably helps too)

It took me around 3 hours to get it all going because I had to search around and measure twice/cut once many times. When in doubt run a wipe from the boot loader :-)

What he said ;)

Thanks guys!

Thanks - I had read the instructions before but missed this step:

Select Update Featured Addon/Theme Servers and select yes

That took care of it. Thanks.

Just an update for my push notification problems. Tried out K9 Mail again. I receive push notifications intermittently, but it's not instantaneous like it was on Froyo with stock GMail. I think I've set up K9 to only use IMAP IDLE, but it chews up my battery like crazy, so I can't help but think that it's doing more than just listening for push notifications (POLLing?). In other words, I don't know that it's the best measure for how functional push is.

I also tried the official Twitter app. I've never used it before, but I'm assuming it's supposed to send you a notification whenever a feed is updated; if I'm wrong, my apologies. Anyways, I don't receive any push notifications. The only time the feeds appear to be updated is when I open the app and tap the feed column.

Are there any other apps that I can try to see if push is working?

Ill see about testing my push issues again tonight.

If you have hotmail, you could install the hotmail app. This one drains battery too though.

For me when i start the wireless tether app for the first time it says configured but with errors, check log for details. I go to show log, and the majority say done, but

Configuring softap..
Failed

Starting softap...
Failed

Activating wifi interface...
Failed

All other points it says done. But i do not get the reboot using the app. It shows that it is running, but nothing can see my network.

Go to settings, change device profile to lg optimus s, change setup method to wext ad hoc, also turn off access control (if you like you can turn it on later) you might also need to change channel.

I did that and that made the tether work no problem. But am I mistaken that this will not allow infrastructure mode? Thought that was the whole point of using this beta.

So I'm a little confused...

After dirty flashing the 2.2 rom on top of 2.2 my wifi issues are fixed. Before the dirty flash I also had another problem: the screen would flicker and things would be all out of place. A reboot seemingly fixed it but after the dirty flash the issue is back and happens constantly, makes my phone virtually unusable.

I'd rather not do a factory reset as the phone is already set up just how I like it. But I will if I must.

Please help,
Austin

I think that's an issue that's still being ironed out in Gingerkernel, if you're getting a weird screen wrap. Try looking here. The thread talks about it more specifically around post 259. Do you use SetCPU? That may be a cause. You can also try turning down the overclock. I was getting a little bit of screen artifact every once in a while at 748 MHz. I dropped it down to 600 MHz and it went away.

Device-Profile = LG Optimus S
Setup-Method = Netd(master)

Please note that when you turn off wireless tethering, your phone will crash & reboot. That's a known problem.

...alternatively, I've found that if you cancel the process from Application Manager, it will turn off tethering, but not properly.

What happens when you use the included app? Error messages? Force Close? Give the details and I am sure myself or someone else can help you get it going.

under the log these these fail, app stays running but no hot spot.

Configuring softap .....
failed

starting softap....

Activating WIFI interface....

Enabling routing fix.....
failed

I gotcha, netd if I need infrastructure. Not all my devices need it so I'll use adhoc the rest of the time so I don't have to worry about reboots.

Have u tried move ur cord around to make sure its not the cord or port on the phine I know mine sometimes dont reconize my phine or wont charge but ill move the cord an it will. I think my port is going out or my cord is. So id try that first an see what happen an try a diff cord if u can

That was an issue I had with the stock Gingerbread release. After completely cleaning the phone and SD card and starting from scratch and ending at the gROM 2.2, it seems to be working great now.

Good luck. That was very frustrating.

Try going to Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging and unclick that. Heard that has helped some with this problem. You will have to re-enable it if you want to connect to a pc for file transfer though (I think so atleast LOL)
