Just an update for my push notification problems. Tried out K9 Mail again. I receive push notifications intermittently, but it's not instantaneous like it was on Froyo with stock GMail. I think I've set up K9 to only use IMAP IDLE, but it chews up my battery like crazy, so I can't help but think that it's doing more than just listening for push notifications (POLLing?). In other words, I don't know that it's the best measure for how functional push is.

I also tried the official Twitter app. I've never used it before, but I'm assuming it's supposed to send you a notification whenever a feed is updated; if I'm wrong, my apologies. Anyways, I don't receive any push notifications. The only time the feeds appear to be updated is when I open the app and tap the feed column.

Are there any other apps that I can try to see if push is working?

Hmmm... I starting to get confused on what works and what does not work. Can you repost app by app. Can everyone do that and reply to each others postings of that so i can follow it like a sub-thread. Or better yet, just post on my website in the forum section and I can analyze it more easily. Its going to get washed out in this thread.

Ill see about testing my push issues again tonight.

If you have hotmail, you could install the hotmail app. This one drains battery too though.
See above....
So I'm a little confused...
After dirty flashing the 2.2 rom on top of 2.2 my wifi issues are fixed. Before the dirty flash I also had another problem: the screen would flicker and things would be all out of place. A reboot seemingly fixed it but after the dirty flash the issue is back and happens constantly, makes my phone virtually unusable.
I'd rather not do a factory reset as the phone is already set up just how I like it. But I will if I must.
Please help,
Austin
Clock it down to regular speeds or flash the stock kernel. This affect's some devices more than others. Why? I think there are different hardware revisions out there. As it only did it twice on my phone and that was with a dirty flashing... Cleaning flashing worked just fine. Pretty jmuch the same thing you are seeing. I also posted these results in drews thread so... IDK!

I think that's an issue that's still being ironed out in Gingerkernel, if you're getting a weird screen wrap. Try looking here. The thread talks about it more specifically around post 259. Do you use SetCPU? That may be a cause. You can also try turning down the overclock. I was getting a little bit of screen artifact every once in a while at 748 MHz. I dropped it down to 600 MHz and it went away.
Agreed.
Device-Profile = LG Optimus S
Setup-Method = Netd(master)

Please note that when you turn off wireless tethering, your phone will crash & reboot. That's a known problem.

...alternatively, I've found that if you cancel the process from Application Manager, it will turn off tethering, but not properly.

Those are the settings for Infrastructure, correct? If so I will post in the OP.

was it within the last couple days cause sprint i think was havin probs cause texts were slow for last couple days i dont think the prob was rom related i think it was network related

No, if it were sms and mms then yes... but this is not Sprint related because it happens on WiFi as well.

I get no reboot of phine wen turning of wirless teather.
on a secand not can anyome tell me how to get darktremor to work I have it install an it said its install but I have like 77mb left it says in the app settings?

I beleive there is a thread in this forum that has the info you seek. Dont have a link right now.

I have a completely clean phone running gRom 2.2 and won't charge or recognize while connected to computer. Any help? I am using the drdrewwalton kernel

I heard of this before too. Its a Sprint known issue that they have admitted to. It doesnt affect many people as far as I Can tell. Once again , I think it might be hardware revision related.

That was an issue I had with the stock Gingerbread release. After completely cleaning the phone and SD card and starting from scratch and ending at the gROM 2.2, it seems to be working great now.

Good luck. That was very frustrating.
That just may work!

Try going to Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging and unclick that. Heard that has helped some with this problem. You will have to re-enable it if you want to connect to a pc for file transfer though (I think so at least LOL)
No, that has no affect on USB 2 PC. Thats to enable or disable ADB connectivity.

Can this rom connect to adhoc networks made by other devices? optirom cant and they said it was a zvh issue but I thought is ask.

If by infrastructure you mean security, then yes, those are the correct settings.

As for people having issues with USB charging, please do me a favor & try installing LG's USB drivers and see if that helps. I could swear that I had a brief issue with charging after the ZVH update and that this fixed it (though I could be completely wrong, either way, it doesn't hurt trying):

I'm getting touch screen problems. When it tap or slide, it frequently registers it as two taps. This is really annoying because I use Swype. Anyone else getting this issue? maybe it's my device...

a clean wipe and install took care of my updater issues...also does anyone have the sprintzone apk?
I have a zip with the following sprint apps
nascar, nfl, sprinttv, weather, contactswidgets, appwidgets, iconpack, messagingwidget, tutorial, telenav.
Let me know if interested in any of those.

Those from when the phone first came out. Some might have been updated, like telenav.

Update on gmail push. Still not working right. Last night I got an email 30 mins late, and I got it because I forced sync.
Is there a log file within android that I could look at? See if push is actually trying to work.

I could enable hotmail push settings, just to see if push works for that one.

I just downloaded the grom 2.2 and will install, see if it helps. Will do cache clean only and if that doesnt help I might do a fresh start. I know push used to work when I installed 2.0 originally and still worked for 2.1 till I started messing with themes that had outdated gmail.apk's.

Spoke too soon on the USB charging in the car. It worked on the way to work (98% back up to 100% charge) but on the way home the battery charge indicator on the status bar did not change so I'm assuming it was not charging.

Not sure why it stopped working.. sigh...

Have you tried to charge it with the phone off?

Downloaded some themes using ROM Updater. Did not install right away. Came back to have it flash the ones I downloaded earlier. Got an error about MD5 and the app FC'd when trying to update the phone with the theme,

Alright, Scott. I'm pissed off now.

It's been OVER 12 hours and there's no Ice Cream port for us yet.

What gives?

Its your device... No, its not... But it might be! You never know...

But seriously... Its probably the issue that some people report. It usually clears up after a reboot or two. Its just something about the OS update from Sprint. Its one of the main reasons its been pulled.

just a little update. so far so good. everything seems to be running really smooth. thanks again

Good deal!

Yeah, I am waaaaay to busy (lazy?) to put up an MD5 server for the updater. If you choose to use the "Apply Later" option you just have to reboot into recovery and manually flash the ZIP file. Maybe one day I will take the time and implement MD5 but too much work for too little gain.

I did that and that made the tether work no problem. But am I mistaken that this will not allow infrastructure mode? Thought that was the whole point of using this beta.

If you want infrastructure or access point change setup method to Netd (master), works for me.

I tried to download gROM 2.2 using ROM Updater, I get the following errors. "An error occurred while trying to download an update, Unable to download the update file from any mirror"
