Just an update for my push notification problems. Tried out K9 Mail again. I receive push notifications intermittently, but it's not instantaneous like it was on Froyo with stock GMail. I think I've set up K9 to only use IMAP IDLE, but it chews up my battery like crazy, so I can't help but think that it's doing more than just listening for push notifications (POLLing?). In other words, I don't know that it's the best measure for how functional push is.
I also tried the official Twitter app. I've never used it before, but I'm assuming it's supposed to send you a notification whenever a feed is updated; if I'm wrong, my apologies. Anyways, I don't receive any push notifications. The only time the feeds appear to be updated is when I open the app and tap the feed column.
Are there any other apps that I can try to see if push is working?
Hmmm... I starting to get confused on what works and what does not work. Can you repost app by app. Can everyone do that and reply to each others postings of that so i can follow it like a sub-thread. Or better yet, just post on my website in the forum section and I can analyze it more easily. Its going to get washed out in this thread.
See above....Ill see about testing my push issues again tonight.
If you have hotmail, you could install the hotmail app. This one drains battery too though.
Clock it down to regular speeds or flash the stock kernel. This affect's some devices more than others. Why? I think there are different hardware revisions out there. As it only did it twice on my phone and that was with a dirty flashing... Cleaning flashing worked just fine. Pretty jmuch the same thing you are seeing. I also posted these results in drews thread so... IDK!So I'm a little confused...
After dirty flashing the 2.2 rom on top of 2.2 my wifi issues are fixed. Before the dirty flash I also had another problem: the screen would flicker and things would be all out of place. A reboot seemingly fixed it but after the dirty flash the issue is back and happens constantly, makes my phone virtually unusable.
I'd rather not do a factory reset as the phone is already set up just how I like it. But I will if I must.
Please help,
Austin
Agreed.I think that's an issue that's still being ironed out in Gingerkernel, if you're getting a weird screen wrap. Try looking here. The thread talks about it more specifically around post 259. Do you use SetCPU? That may be a cause. You can also try turning down the overclock. I was getting a little bit of screen artifact every once in a while at 748 MHz. I dropped it down to 600 MHz and it went away.
Device-Profile = LG Optimus S
Setup-Method = Netd(master)
Please note that when you turn off wireless tethering, your phone will crash & reboot. That's a known problem.
...alternatively, I've found that if you cancel the process from Application Manager, it will turn off tethering, but not properly.
Those are the settings for Infrastructure, correct? If so I will post in the OP.
was it within the last couple days cause sprint i think was havin probs cause texts were slow for last couple days i dont think the prob was rom related i think it was network related
No, if it were sms and mms then yes... but this is not Sprint related because it happens on WiFi as well.
I get no reboot of phine wen turning of wirless teather.
on a secand not can anyome tell me how to get darktremor to work I have it install an it said its install but I have like 77mb left it says in the app settings?
I beleive there is a thread in this forum that has the info you seek. Dont have a link right now.
I have a completely clean phone running gRom 2.2 and won't charge or recognize while connected to computer. Any help? I am using the drdrewwalton kernel
I heard of this before too. Its a Sprint known issue that they have admitted to. It doesnt affect many people as far as I Can tell. Once again , I think it might be hardware revision related.
That just may work! That was an issue I had with the stock Gingerbread release. After completely cleaning the phone and SD card and starting from scratch and ending at the gROM 2.2, it seems to be working great now.
Good luck. That was very frustrating.
No, that has no affect on USB 2 PC. Thats to enable or disable ADB connectivity.Try going to Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging and unclick that. Heard that has helped some with this problem. You will have to re-enable it if you want to connect to a pc for file transfer though (I think so at least LOL)
