Re: [ROM][July 17, 2012] AOKP Milestone 6 RC3 [Semi-Official]

Is this the same rom that is posted to xda or are these different versions of aokp? If its different what is different about it?

Hydra Rom?
It is an AOKP based Tablet UI Hybrid that's primarily meant to give you a tablet UI if the DPI is set to 128, its identical to yours other then the errors and its functionality being a little lower since it is designed to be a tablet alternative for the e4gt, they use an older kernel since its out of date and the AOKP version hasn't been updated in a long while on that rom, im not trying to put yours down as with a bit of work this one could easily be perfected, but the hydra from lacks the SD Card error, is installable rom almost any cwm recovery kernal, and all applications work normally. However as I said unlike you they were not trying to make a direct port

I'm not really familiar with how AOSP ROMs work in terms of kernels but is the kernel in this ROM built from source?

Yes the kernel and rom has been built from there respected sources. Kernel=Samsung FF18 Source
ROM=AOKP Milestone 6 Source
Radio Layer Interface= CM9 Source from ET4G
GPS and Sensors=CM9 Source from ET4G

Re: [ROM][July 18, 2012] AOKP Milestone 6 RC4 [Semi-Official]

Rc4 in the OP:
Lots of code changes and improvements
23 New Background Scripts
Redid the whole entire GPS system
Redid some of the sensor binaries
Killed background Logging Activities
Modified RAM Disk
Added new and improved .ko modules
Added some CM9 Commits cherrypicked from source
Very close to stable release :)

So considering it sounds like everything's fixed, whats left that isn't working?

I haven't had time to test the game orientations, but otherwise everything's perfect, LOVE the recovery menu btw

I am now on aokp rc4. The install was a dirty flash using twrp. There have been no lag problems whatsoever. No force closes. I have yet to run into any problem:) thank you dark_night2 for everything

I'll flash this in the morning. Do I have to go back to El29 with cwm 5 or what?

Sent from my piece of expensive plastic and silicon.

This rom runs like a freakin top. Thank you for this. Now I just have to figure out why I can't find my zip files in this crazy recovery menu.

Game/app orientation works properly, only two very minor issues I've ran into (and I do mean minor). Their seems to be no way to get custom ring tones or notifications or alarms, my guess this is partly due to the default file manager being gone as the alarms would use it to open files for use, and the second is theirs no way to use a custom font (this being the least important for me as go launcher can circumnavigate this issue)
