Try flashing an ASOP kernel.

by flashing cyanogen doesnt it come with an aosp kernal as part of the rom? and if not which one is being used the most and could u point me in the right direction how to flash the kernal

Yes, the ROM does come with a Kernel.

Did you try flashing the ROM through ROM Manager or Recovery? If you did it by Recovery, which one are you using?

i flashed through recovery and im using update-cm-7.0.3.1-Supersonic-signed.zip that i got straight from the cyanogen website....im gonna make another back up and try another rom, but i still would like to try cm7 so if anyone could help me make this possible i would be forever greatful

That is the looks like the correct ROM, but which Recovery are you using? Amon_RA or Clockworkmod?

Also, did you verify the MD5 of the downloaded CM7 ROM to the MD5 code posted on the download site? A corrupted download of the ROM will cause problems.

Google "MD5 Checker" and you should be able to find a simple free and small program that will generate an MD5 Hash code to check against the one posted on the Cyanogenmod download page.

It always a good idea to check the MD5 Hash code of any ROMs that you download before you flash them so that you don't end up with problems from an incomplete or bad download. If you start using ROM Manager and download the ROMs directly to your phone, there are MD5 checking tools that are available on the Android Market.

Try out one of the MD5 Checkers and let me know if the MD5 matches this for Cyanogenmod 7.0.3.1 for the EVO.

Flash among RA recovery from rom manager, and try it.

I don't think the OP has a functional phone at this point. I would say that the best way to do it would be to download the PC36IMG.zip version of Amon_RA recovery (link in my signature) and flash it by going into HBoot and letting the phone "update" from the PC36IMG.zip file.

Then you can reboot into HBoot and select "Recovery" and wipe the phone and try to re-flash CM7.

RA wont let me boot into recovery to try and install cyanogen......when i try and boot into amon it gives me 4 options bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader and power down

Then don't use the automated reboot option.

With Amon_RA installed as the Recovery:

  1. Turn the phone off
  2. Press and hold the Power + Vol Down keys until you get the screen with the 3 skateboarding androids
  3. Wait for the phone to check the PC36IMG.zip file and select "No" to the update.
  4. Select "No" to reboot.
  5. Select "Recovery" from the list provided.
