[ROM] Reborn ROM v2.1 5/13/11

Hey again, Okay I have researched this a little. I am new to custom rom's, etc. Can someone point me to a dummy proof guide from start to finish, I am not even sure how to get a "custom recovery" yet. Also when I searched for NANROID BACKUP, the only thing I found was an outdated software, that people said on the forum did not work. Can someone lead me in the right direction, Other than if you don't know how to do it, don't do it. the steps I am to are:

Get Optimus V (got that one
Root Optimus V (got that one
Scratch head trying to figure out rest (got that one

Anyways, this roms simply AMAZING. Better than anything I've tried yet when it comes to design to battery performance. The batteries the best to. I just didnt really like the launcher so i switched to launcher pro, but hey everyone has their own preference. This rom is just amazing. Can't say it any more or better lol. Great job on this

Thanks for a great ROM.
I just wiped my old Thunder ROM and flashed to Reborn 2.1. Initially the phone just cannot reboot. It just hang at the LG logo. I read through the thread and figured out that it could be the overclocking issue. So I flashed the "Boot_600_max.zip" that from the old Thunder ROM. Now it can boot.
Then I was trying to use the tweaks script following your instruction. However, when I type "sh tweaks", it says "sh: Can't open tweaks". Is there something that I missed here? Thanks.
Also, after I flashed the "Boot_600_max.zip" to allow my phone to boot, how can I overclock it again? Thanks.

Editing your build.prop (JIT, HW ACC, Stagefright):
1. Open terminal emulator, provided in the ROM.
Note: This should be done using the terminal emulator app on the phone, not through ADB/CMD.
2. Type "su" into terminal emulator and allow it to have super user permission
3. Type "sh tweaks" into the emulator
4. Follow the prompt.

Hi, I am really liking the rom... I am having a problem tho. I have a bunch of applications and a lot of them are stored on the sd card via apps2sd. The problem is all the apps that are on the SD are not showing up. It's like they are not there. I can access them if I go into settings, and applications. But I have to go through that everytime I want to open an app, as I cant make shortcuts because they don't show up. The only other problem I have is the startup, it is really slow on mine, is there anyway to speed up the startup?
Thats not that important, I can wait. But Is there a way to fix the dissapearing applications. Sorry if I sound dumb, but I'm a noob. Thanks a lot in advance if you can help.

Oh BTW, I tried clearing the cache, and Dalvik-cache, and tried "fix apk uid mismatches" in recovery, tried restarting several times, and tried downloading a sdcard refresh app. I am stuck and can't think of anything else.

Download a file manager (such as Astro File Manager or Linda File Manager), and find the folder that contains all of the apps. Then simply click on them and install.

From now on, back up your apps with Titanium backup, which can be found in the market. Its much easier.

But they are still installed, I can still open them if I go through the settings> application> click and launch. Just the shortcuts/icons are missing.

hmm .. if you could reflash the rom, reflash it

. remember to wipe the phone, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache.

then try reinstalling the apps through a file manager

OR

Try downloading Launcher Pro from the market and see if its a problem with the launcher.

Yeah, sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but you might have to start over from scratch I have a feeling that you will be fine if you just start fresh, install your apps, then move them to your sd card.

Aosp is back in the free download now. But I'm with you I may jump ship and go back to this

yeah. i thought it would be fun to compare at least. i am a big Netflix user though, so if it doesn't work on anything other than AOSP, i may just stay put.

Yeah I'll be updating this ROM one more time before I work on an AOSP Gingerbread. Then sometime in the future I'll be able to build this ROM off a Gingerbread base.

Hey just incase anyone else had the problem with the apps not showing up (the ones installed on sd card) I figured out the problem and the fix... The problem is the home replacement... Adw doesnt refresh the apps on sd and the icons end up not showing up... The way to fix it is: go to setting>apps>all> then click lghome> force close> press home and everything is back... Yes netflix works with this ROM. It has the line at the top like it seems to have on all the Optimus V phones. Minor in my opinion.
