Try redownloading the zip, might have gotten a bad download.

When I get some suggestions for an update ;)

OK, I have one (it may be covered somewhere here but I cannot find it).

I like using Dolphin Browser instead of stock. So I want to replace the stock browser icon in the trey on the home screen with Dolphin Browser (by dragging the icon to the tray). That works great except that when I reboot the phone, the icon in the trey goes back to the stock browser. Is there a way to fix the icon permanently?

Aside from this little pet peeve, this ROM is awesome! I've been on your ROMs since ThundeROM 1.5 (I think) and I've loved just about all of them. Thanks for all the hard work!

Move the dolphin app back to your internal memory. Anything stored on the SD card will render the problem your are experiencing.

Is dolphin browser on your sd card? If so move it back to internal storage

When I get some suggestions for an update ;)

Ok, seeing a recent comment reminded me of some little annoyances that would make this ROM much more awesome in the next release.

First, automatically sorting apps by name, rather than sticking new apps at the bottom of the list. Currently, the only way to sort by name is to 'reset' the apps tray, and then you have to add all of the custom shortcuts back to the bar.

Second, allow apps on SD card to be placed on the shortcut bar.

And third, allow for just one category in the apps tray. I tried organizing them into 8 or so categories a while back, but when I updated to the newest version of Reborn, it was just way too much work to redo all of the categories, especially since dragging apps around and placing them where you want is next to impossible with how fast it scrolls. And if I'm not going to sort into lots of categories, there is no benefit in differentiating between system installed apps and user installed apps - when I want to find the 'Talk' or 'Voice' app, I don't want to have to try and remember which one is a system app and which is a user app.

I imagine these would be somewhat minor updates, but it would sure be nice to see them in the next release! Regardless, it is a fantastic ROM.

Well said generosity, i switched back to launcher pro mostly because of the reasons you stated above.
If you like to organize your apps, you could also try GO Launcher EX, in the app drawer you can create folders...I put all my apps in about 5 folders, easy to find everything :) just a suggestion... (and almost any other launcher will put them all in one category...)

** Nick7 and Guru's,

I'm currently still running RebornROM v.2.1, but I'm planning on moving up to v.2.2.4 in the next few days. I already upgraded my daughter's LG Optimus S to v.2.2.4 and it's awesome!!!!

I'm in a bit of a dilemma and I'm hoping that someone can help.

Like many of you, I use App2SD for a variety of reasons, if anything at least so that I can more effectively manage moving apps from the internal memory storage to the SD Card, especially right after install.

Now here's the deal: I also use TitaniumBackupPro for all sorts of reasons. Recently, I found a special setting within TitaniumBackup call 'Chuck Norris Mode'. Apparently with this setting, it also forces apps that normally COULD NOT be moved from the internal memory storage to the SD Card (whether this is done manually or through App2SD).

So needless to say, I took advantage of this feature and moved all of my user and system apps to the SD Card. Afterwards, I was pretty happy, especially since it opened up so much more internal memory storage for me and etc.

Now for the problems:

I've noticed two issues ever since I did this. I'm not 100% sure that force-moving everything to the SD Card has caused this...but I will find out tonight. Once I make another backup of my apps with Titanium...I'm going to do a clean upgrade to RebornROM v.2.2.4. Afterwards, before installing any apps what-so-ever...I will check to see if these two issues have gone away.

Issue # 1:

- USB Mass Storage no longer works. If I connect my phone to my computer with the USB Cable, it will definitely charge, but I cannot enable USB Mass Storage. Whether USB-Debugging mode is on or off...I cannot mount USB Mass Storage.

Also, I cannot connect to my phone with ADB at all. Even if it's connected, if I try to run a simple command like say 'Adb Devices'...it will not show my phone as connected, whether USB-Debugging mode is on or off.

Issue # 2:

- My battery has a very difficult time charging. I know it's not the actual battery itself because when I try it on my daughter's LG Optimus S, she doesn't have the same problem.

What happens is if I connect the phone to an A/C Charger or USB Cable (connected to the computer) in order to charge the phone, it will charge for a few minutes. Then when I go back to check on the phone, it will say 'connect charger'...so the cable is still physically plugged-in to the phone, but it's no longer charging. I have to physically disconnect the cable from the phone, then plug it back in for it to start charging again.

So that said, I'm wondering what kind of system app or etc., must I have moved to the SD Card...that is causing this?

If you have any idea, please let me know so that I can try to move it back to internal memory storage.

NOTE: If I reboot into recovery (Xionia Clockwork (CWMA v1.2518.6)...and if I go into 'mounts and storage'...then I go into...'Mount USB Storage'...it WILL NOT mount either.

So I don't know what to do at this time. Like I said, I will do a fresh upgrade to RebornROM v.2.2.4 later this evening.

I'm seriously hoping that after I do, everything works fine and that it's not a hardware issue.

Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Thank you!!

BJ.

BJ, could both your problems be the result of dirty contacts?

Our phones are definitely not "pocket lint friendly". This has been mentionned before. You need to watch both the usb cable and the phone connection for signs of dust, dirt and lint, and perhaps blow them out with some pressurized air. Obviously, a poor connection would affect both your ability to charge as well as your ability to adb, or use usb mass storage.

why do you just move your apps back to internal and see if the problem goes away. If it does then you know you move a file that should not have been moved. IF it does fix the problem then start move some apps alittle at a time to see what caused problem in the first place.
Or better yet instead of installing reborn install Drew's CM7 and then partition sd card then data2ext. and have plenty of internal space, I started out with 1gb of internal, others chose to start with 4gb. All depends on how big of sd card you install. Then never have to worry about internal space filling up. 165mb goes quick, but for me 1Gb last for a very long time. Plus it runs really...really quick!!!! I had reborn and loved it, Nick7 did a great job with it, but Drew's CM7 IMO runs alot quicker!

Ok...first off...OOOOOOOOOO-MMMMMMMMMMMM-GGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was it!!!!! Stupid dirty-@ss contacts!!!!! I cannot believe it. LOL. Talk about troubleshooting the simplest element first...I cannot believe that was it. Thank you so much for reminding me to get back to basics!!!!!

As for Drew's CM7...I have never even heard of it? I've messed around with Scott Pilgrim and aOSP...but I have never heard of Drew's CM7.

Question; Come to think of it...I know I did partition a few gigs from my 16gb MicroSD card, utilizing Xionia Clockwork. How do I go about making that part of the 'internal memory storage'? Will it work on RebornROM or only Drew's CM7?

Also, with Drew's version...does Bluetooth work among other things or does it still have the same issues as some of the other CM-ported ROMs?

Thanks!!!!!!!!

BJ

BJ,

I'm glad cleaning the contacts worked out for you.

Your other questions aren't really Reborn related questions and if you browse the forum, you'll find the answers you are looking for. Data2ext combined with Drew's cm7 I think will give you the results you desire. And, yes Bluetooth is working in Drew's CM7.

My current "Internal Storage":

Pretty much everything is working in Drew's CM7. DATA2EXT will not work with reborn to increase internal storage. There are other methods that can help with storage with reborn but IMO none as good as data2ext in CM7.

sent from my CM7 gingerbread Optimus S

Always happy to help, hit that thanks button if I did

Big thanks to Nick7. I tried all the CM7 kangs and supports, all of them had their own issues. This is my sons phone so I wanted something he could tinker with. For some reason, I think this phone was meant to be on this rom. :) Big Kudos!
