Knock yourself out :D.

It was kind of fun. I had no idea apks had to be signed, and no idea what signing was... Hung my phone like 5 times and learnt a lot more about adb and shell commands....plus apparently there's a big difference using adb shell in recovery vs. Reborn...

Yes it is fun. Not to get off topic here but everything I have learned is from poking around inside these roms and experimenting a bit. Credit goes to Nick, KSmith and everyone else who has helped me fuel this crazy addiction.

And just to clarify, I am no pro by any means. LOL

Hi, I just installed the Reborn Rom on my Optimus S using the instructions in the thread but had 2 questions:

1) In the instructions, it says to "Flash noIQagent.zip" after letting the rom fully boot. There doesn't seem to be any link for the noIQagent.zip file. Considering the rom seems to have installed fine without it, do I even need the noIQagent.zip file?

2) This may be a stupid question but is there a file manager program or something? I have some apps from my old HTC Hero like Angry Birds that I'd like to install on my Optimus. On my Hero, I was able to use a file manager to find the .apk file on my sdcard and just install it from there. Otherwise, how would you recommend installing apk files that I transfer from my computer to the sdcard?

All of your answers are infact in the first two posts, but:

1- noIQagent.zip is placed on your SD card when you flash Reborn v1.

2- ES file explorer will work. Or File Expert.

EDIT: I meant Reborn v2. Lol my bad.

So would this wipe all of the data off my phone and I would have to resync contacts and reinstall apps?

Hmm...well I found a noIQagent.zip file link further along in the thread and installed that without any problems but after reading your post, I checked the contents of my SD card and found a noIQagent-patch.zip file with a 5/04/11 date. So I went ahead and installed it and rebooted and now it's stuck on the Reborn Rom loading screen. Did I screw up?

Ya the patch is from nameless v1. noIQagent.zip is what you want to flash. It should have been put on your SD card when you initially flashed Reborn v2.

Did you fully reboot AFTER flashing Reborn but BEFORE flashing noIQ?

The order of operations is:

Flash reborn.
BOOT INTO REBORN, let it boot entirely, give it a few minutes. Make some coffee, etc.
Reboot into recovery.
Flash noIQ.
Boot back into Reborn...

yeah i let sit for 15 min after it fully booted, same result, ive flashed like 10 times, so im no noob and im not the only one who has mentioned this

Don't flash noIQagent-patch.zip. flash noIQagent.zip.

Good or bad, I decided to flash over top of my old install of "V1"... and it came up perfectly happy... (whether or not it was kosher or not, it worked)

Ya I did the same thing. No issues here either. :D

Having trouble connecting to wifi with static ip now. Didn't have this issue with nameless. Anyone else experience this? Tried a couple different times now just so you guys know I'm not trying to pick the ROM apart. My home network is static ip with wpa2... So that's my only option to go wifi lol. I am enjoying this ROM other than that issue. Then again, I've been working all night so it may just be fatigue setting in for me... Any guidance, others' experiences?

EDIT: More information for devs (or others testing): After setting static ip in wifi settings, phone attempts to connect. Quickly sends security code and then displays "Obtaining IP address from ****..." Then after trying for about 30 seconds the phone goes back to scanning for local networks. Also, wireless router is definitely working because I'm using it from my computer right now. I've tried to cover every angle of this before reporting... No themes loaded either. Just Reborn ROM with noIQagent.zip flashed

EDIT 2: Seems the issue is the phone is not setting itself to static ip. I switched the router to use DHCP settings and left the phone set to use static ip and the phone accepted the DHCP ip address (which is not normal). The phone should have set the ip or overrode the router. I have the phone set to use *.*.*.104 and the router assigned *.*.*.102. I believe the phone isn't sticking the static settings in the advanced menu... Just my results and thoughts from the quick tests I've done.

Anyone looking into this issue?

Static lan should work

Hmm, static lan should work just fine.

I've got a wireless bridge into my cisco vpn router running a static lan with mac authentication. Works just fine.

Having said that I had issue assigning static IP addresses in every rom I tried with nearly every static IP app I tried, only one I found that worked was Zakus (which for all I know could be full of all sorts of malware, I don't know jack :D )

But if you are feeling brave you might give it a try, either way I don't think it's the rom.

Is dhcp on your router turned off completely?

I am not interested in a 3rd party app. I'm attempting to use the settings within this ROM. It has everything I need built-in.

EDIT: Thanks for the reply! However my issue is still unsolved.

static ip assignment

Wouldn't be static otherwise ;)

I don't want to sound entirely stupid but I havn't been able to find a feature in the rom to assign a static IP address, and I have looked.

Unless you are trying to configure something with the vpn (which I don't believe is the case), I'm entirely lost.

I'm not a big fan of using 3rd party apps myself either so I'd gladly drop zakus for a way to manage the static IP address directly. Please enlighten me on your assignment methods so I can test them from here, I'd love to try to duplicate your issue :D

I'm not sure how your network is setup and I'm not using vpn but I doubt that makes a difference because there is still a router assigning the ip. Also you can use static ip addresses on a dhcp network. Not sure if you are aware of that. So be sure to check your router settings and confirm that dhcp is disabled.

If you go into WiFi settings then hit your menu button you will see an advanced button. Hit that and all your dreams will come true. ;)

The vpn actually has nothing do to with anything I mentioned the 'bridge into the vpn' mainly to iterate that it wasn't a standard configuration. I won't go into all the details of my network as well to put it bluntly it's extreme overkill. I was a network administrator for many years, if there is one thing I know how to do it's configure a LAN, static or dynamic. And since I am a firm believer that dhcp kills routers, everything is static in my book. So yes, dhcp is turned off.

You are correct, not sure how I missed that regarding the static ip settings, though you would think the sprint guy would have known that when I talked to him lol.

At anyrate I just removed zakus and my static IP assignment is working properly from within the main wireless controls now.

Unfortunately that doesn't help you, good luck.

Just my luck. I get stuck talking to the network administrator. :p I studied CCNA for two years. I understand vpn.

Thanks for testing... By any chance did you flash noIQagent.zip as well? Just trying to think why my settings are having problems since I've flashed this ROM... I'm going to try again btw. Just because it's bugging the hell out of me now. Again, thanks for "giving it a go"

EDIT: DHCP causes more problems than it fixes. lol

EDIT 2: Trying again and it seems that nothing I do will get it past "Obtaining IP address". I am wondering why it is "obtaining ip address" in the first place since I've set it to static ip....
