Editing Power Widgets:

Has anyone had any luck getting the flashlight power widget to work? I was able to edit the text file to get the flashlight icon to appear on the widget...but when I press it the flashlight is not activated. Do I need to do something to tie it to the flashlight function/app?

The S does not have a rear camera flash so it will not work, unlike the EVO for which this was originally developed.

Duh!

I was thinking it would just flash the screen white like the flashlight apps on the market...forgot that most of the time the flashlight means an exterior flash.

Wait, so who here would want file expert included in the ROM? We just removed it because we figured people would rather choose their own file explorer.

I'd say keep it removed, those of us who use it can install from the market (i use it mainly for http transfer with my computer, so nice). No point in taking up space for people who don't like it.

Not me. But I don't mind removing stuff i dont need I suppose, I tend to do it alot :3

I use it; wouldn't mind having it included, but no big deal if I have to download one from Market. I don't really care what file browser I use long as it works.

I'm fine with QuickPic and File Expert integration. I used (still do sometimes) JustPictures!, but QuickPic is so darned fast it's my most used now. I have used a couple file managers and haven't found one worthy of replacing another. I like File Expert for now because it's there. If there's room in the ROM then I say put it in there. I've moved all apps to the internal memory and find my phone is behaving much better than with heavy use of "App 2 SD", but I'm down to around 25MB free again. Time to remove some lesser used apps.

Regarding Browser preferences, I just switched to the Dolphin HD Browser and I'm really liking it! It's like going from Gallery to QuickPic all over again.

im having a problem with my apps dissapearing. some of the shortcuts dont work, so i reboot and they work perfectly fine but other apps wont be there. any solution? Reborn 2.1

little newbie question, but what is the widget in the notification menu to the far right? for example, to the far left is to toggle the GPS tracker, next to that: WIFI, and so forth, but I can't decipher what the double sided arrow means going through a slash hehehe

I'd prefer to choose my own. If I were to bake the ROM myself I'd also replace Gmail with k9, Browser with Dolphin HD, and the built-in MMS with Handcent. I know others have different preferences, though.

Does it hurt anything to delete the built-in apps, e.g., those listed above, with root explorer to save space?

I often delete a built-in app using Titanium Backup, prior to cooking in a new app, to make sure everything is functioning correctly. But I also tend to to make a nandroid before I delete in case there is a problem so I can easily revert if necessary. As an aside, I got rid of gallery.apk long ago and have been using QuickPic in my own custom rom and my family and friends like it much better.

I might B the only one that wants it but its a very nice File Manager Just nice to not have to set up google acct everytime before u install your backed up apps. Thats the only reason why I wanted it incorporated

To wake this phone how do I have the home/settings/back/search buttons wake it? Right now they dont do anything and I have to hit the unlock botton at the top.

Also in quadrant I get 535 @825mhz while my other phone gets ~900 @767(CM7). I think there is something wrong and believe some of the higher scores are from this rom (correct me if im wrong).
