I like the feature in Nrom of only 3 home screens and the ability to have the last one bounce back to the first. Plus the scrollable icons on the bottom of the screen. Are these features available? What are the features of the combined roms?

Go launcher ex lets u do both of those plus more . Give it a try i think you will like it!!!

Is it just me that keeps getting random freezes, reboots and plain I need to remove the battery to get this thing working again?

I love this rom when it works, but at least once a day it becomes a PITA and just needs to be restarted or it does it on its own.

I've done at least 3 or 4 "dirty flashes" and no improvement.

Same for me. I even did a complete wipe, started fresh. Tried dirty flashes, clocking down to 600, nothing worked. It froze up just today with the screen off and I had to pull the battery. Did not have this problem before 2.1, so I don't think it is just a bad unit.

I was also having those freezing issues and also sometimes when I flash this rom instead of fast transitions I just get default. It's really weird.

Yeah, until I do a dirty flash the fast transitions won't work. I'm starting to think something is up with my sdcard, maybe time to get a new one.

dumb question sorry. I just rooted and flashed this ROM and I was just wondering what kind of clock app can I get. you know one that has weather and a clock. The home screen is kind of boring with out it. ROM is awesome though fast and smooth

Hey Everyone,

I'm brand-new to all of this stuff (Android/Hackdroid), so please bear with me...n00be here.

I just finished the following:

1. - Rooting my phone w/ Gingersnap

2. - Installed Xionia Clockwork (CWMA v1.2518.6)

3. - Created Nandroid of Stock ROM with tons of apps

4. - Installed RebornROM

...so far everything looks, feels and works fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A few quick questions:

1. - Right before creating the Nandroid, I used Titanium Backup to backup all of the 40+ apps that I had installed (various apps; SetCPU, Go Launcher EX, blah blah etc.), along with user data.

I would like to to restore these apps...but my concern is that doing so will screw up or slow down RebornROM.

Any tips or suggestions? I was going to use Titanium Backup to restore the apps to the resident 16GB SD Card, so that I can keep the internal memory free and clear. Are there any problems if I do this that you can think of?

2. - One of the apps that would be restored, for example, is GMail. Well, RebornROM already includes this app. So when Titanium restores the apps (including GMail) to the SDCard, what happens to the GMail app that is already included with RebornROM? Will things get screwed up?

3. - With RebornROM, after a fresh install...is the ROM overclocked out of the gate?

4. - If I use SetCPU to increase speed, will this screw up RebornROM or brick my phone?

5. - In reading the 'Tips'...it stated that Themes will screw up all of the special tweaks with RebornROM. What kind of Themes? Can I install misc. Wallpaper without causing problems?

3; Yes.

4; I don't think it will "screw it up." However, like stated it is clocked at 768. I wouldn't go over 800, though.

5; Wallpapers, from my experience, won't mess up anything. Themes on the other hand, I have no clue.

1) that's not a problem, go for it. Just when doing the restore go through an uncheck apks you don't want, like settings.

2) same as one, all your gmail you recovered already anyway

Everyone was a Noob at some point.

1) I'd make a backup in Go Launcher EX and then restore that... (it will back up everything, though it doesn't restore widgets so well... (if you didn't make this backup before hand, you can always make a new nandroid of your newly installed reborn rom, then restore the old one, make that backup, then flip back...) I think Titanium will also backup/restore your sms messages...

2) I'm unsure if Gmail would be hurt by it... in theory, by the time you can restore it, you'll have already configured it - not much point. AFAIK, titanium will work great for restoring applications... though you'll probably still need to move them back to the sd card afterwards... not sure.

Just got my optimus S on Wed the 25th. Rooted it on the 26th, now I'm running the reborn Rom. I'm excited to see what it can do. I'm used to jailbreaking and this wasn't that much harder imho. Good
job to all the devs!!!!!!!

Good stuff happening with this phone with all of the developers who put forth so much effort to make this phone so cool...

With this rom is there a way to move the dalvik cache and data to ext? If so can it be be done on an app by app selection?

just my battery observation with this rom.

I was researching this battery drain using Reborn 2.1. I've been losing 5-10% hour just texting and web. I even went back to a stock VD kernel, and still had similar drains. So I went back to ThunderRom 1.83, and it was a little better @ 5-6% per hour. So something still was draining it more than the rom I previously used. I had thought maybe the batteries have started to degrade already at the 6 month mark, but i still wanted to see what was causing this.

I think i found the battery draining bug. It is google voice version 0.4.2.24 . I caught it a few times spike system resourses and become very laggy and have to kill it. And i was losing battery life anywhere from 5-10 % per hour. I have since installed and older google voice version 0.3.4, and that has fixed any lag and FC. Plus battery life has returned to 1-2% loss per hour. The stock email program sucks battery life too.

So its not the Reborn Rom. But we have to use Google voice for the voice mail, so it is related to this rom.

Give it a try if you are having battery drain problems. Uninstall GV 0.4.2.24, and install below.
