Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.1 - 6/23/11

What is suggested for a fresh stock and loading reborn ?
So far Xionia nanodroid backup has been done, rooted, and titanium backup batch backup.
I flashed Reborn over stock without any wiping.
Was this a mistake?

Could be... are you getting force closes? (go into settings and look around in there, and open every application you can think of) If everything's working ok... roll with it... and play...

IF you have things that are fc'ing on you, go wipe your data & cache...

Lockups

First off, I can't thank the developer of this ROM enough. I rooted my phone to get my hands on the CM7 ROM but I had to make the switch to Reborn because I wanted to be able to use Bluetooth. Needless to say, I don't miss CM7 (well, except for the animation when the phone goes to sleep).

Now, my issue:

It's an intermittent issue but I've noticed it happening since I when from 2.1 to 2.21. Sometimes when I go into my apps menu, the touchscreen becomes unresponsive when I try to scroll. Within a couple of seconds, the screen responds to me and operates normally. A few times, my home screen has also locked up when I try to scroll to either side. When it happens on my home screen, the lockup has lasted about 1 minute.

The strange thing is, when it is locked up, I can still swipe down the notification bar on the top of the screen.

It's odd, I never had this type of issue with 2.1.

I wonder if anyone else is having this issue or if I've done something wrong. In any case, it's a minor annoyance and I can live with it if it's not fixable. And if I end up not being able to live with it, I can always go back to 2.1.

(FYI: I've done all the wiping and reflashing that is typically the first recommendation given.)

Yep... Dirty flash with no wipe. Ewwww sounds super dirty. I always wipe lol. Well most of the time lmfao.

I have no problems using bluetooth. I have my phone sync'ed up to 2 different Bluetooth's (cause I use them all day at work to listen to music) & have it sync'ed to my cars sync system, which connects automatically.

No bluetooth problems here either, I have been getting random lags though.

Do I need to wipe anything /everything before updating from 2. 1? Or just flash over from custom recovery with no wipes? Thanks!:)

You really don't need to wipe anything if you are updating a rom, but it is always a good idea to wipe the dalvik cache. If you don't you could experience a few problems.

Thanks for the quick response! I'll just flash over 2. 1 with the new one with just dalvIk cache and be running 2. 2. 1

Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.1 - 6/23/11

what happened with Bluetooth?

Hmm well I just tried connecting to my G2 with bluetooth file transfer, and although something did force close, the connection was still made. The fact that bluetooth enables properly dismisses the possibility of a kernel related issue. I have a build waiting to be flashed but am currently testing battery and performance on an older, but new build.

This is good news for me because I believe the fix will be an easy matter of switching out some apks. As for battery life, I'm at 66% after 18 hours off the charger with moderate usage. Lag spikes have been eliminated. Any lag with HTC-ime can be eliminated by disabling haptic feedback within the keyboards setttings menu. Disabling predictive text also makes input much more responsive.

Expect a new build by either tonight or tomorrow, depending on if I decide to fully test my battery or not.

Good to hear Nick - I probably didn't get the lag people were referring to since I deleted the HTC IME off system (I use SwiftKey instead, although now it is getting more and more annoying... I like HTC's IME, although I don't think it predicts what you are going to type next before you hit a key)... heh... :P

Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.1 - 6/23/11

Thank you so much for the ROM, I absolutely love it. I did perhaps find a few bugs in the ROM, I don't know if its just me... I listed them below.

1. None of the 4 buttons on the LG Optimus S with using the Custom ROM [Reborn ROM v2.2.1] wake up the LG Optimus S from sleep mode as when the screen times out.

2. The talk button on the right hand side just above the Camera button brings the LG Optimus S to the Call Log and originally I think it it supposed to activate Voice Recognition.

3. (Added) When sending a text message, the SEND button is chopped off but then fixes itself after you send a text message. But then stays fixed until you go back to the home screen or any other screen.

4. (Added) Would love to see the stock keyboard for this ROM, I don't like the HTE keyboard implimented and loved the Stock with Sprint.

Great ROM otherwise, keep up the great work! :D

Read the changelog, It's actually a feature. Look for a buttonwake.zip file if you want the four buttons to act normal again.

I wasn't able to find the buttonwake.zip file, is it in the ROM file itself?

EDIT: I was able to find the ButtonsWake.zip file on post number 27. Thank you. :D
