ARCHIVED: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.4 - 7/24/11

Sorry for so many questions but I recently plugged my phone into my computer for the first time in a few months because I've been flashing all roms directly from phone, and I found out that when the phone is plugged in I get no notification telling me that it is in development mode even though I have development mode turned on. It allows me to go into USB mode and transfer files and stuff but no development mode. I have tried going into command prompt and seeing if the device is listed; however, after calling 'adb-devices' the only device listed is A00000284F41C6, and I know this is the phone because when the phone is unplugged and the command is called I get no devices listed. This seems strange because when I rooted before the device was clearly listed as LS670. It should be noted however that I reformatted my computer after the last root, but I am sure I have set the Android SDK path correctly. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and sorry for the essay.

removed usb debugging notification - thanks jholm7 (for the tip)

Wow, I really ought to read the changelog just never came to mind because I haven't had the need to read the changelog yet. Thanks a lot! On another note do you know why the device isn't being listed as LS670?

Ive looked at many roms before for my old phone (Samsung Intercept) and now that im finally able to change off, ive heard LG Optimus S is REALLY good for its price and FAAAAR better than the intercept, if anyone can confirm or deny that would be helpful, but anyway..
Ive looked at many roms before, and ive looked at a couple roms for the Optimus, and I must say i am VERY impressed with the quality and work that has been put into this one. I havnt even flashed it yet and im pretty excited. just one question tho: how does the optimus do on battery power? more importantly, how does this ROM combined with the optimus, do on battery and speed? from what i can understand, this rom is very fast and efficient, im hoping it is fast, efficient, and great on battery life (every android person's dream right?) so ill stop babling now, thanks for reading, awaiting a response :)

Battery life... it depends. IF I'm at work... in a basement with really crappy/impacted cellular service... I'm at ~ 40% battery left by ~ 10 hours off charger with moderate use - too much time without signal... IF I'm at home (or somewhere OTHER than the basement) with decent signal strength, I expect to see somewhere between 70% and 90% battery use in the same time frame... last night when I connected my phone up to charge it - had been off-charger for 12+ hours and was in the 80% battery range... fairly minimal use...

(minimal use == some application use (playing games mostly), some Internet use (twitter, tapatalk and facebook), one or two phone calls, and some texting)

Side Question, is it possible to use this phone with boost mobile not that they have a cdma plan?

That made me laugh. I recently went on a trip with a friend who has an EVO. By 9 am he had it plugged in to the car charger because he has to CHARGE IT 2-3 TIMES EVERY DAY.

For a smartphone the Optimus is great on battery life. I can always get a full day of heavy use in and if I'm careful (turning off radio's in the mountains with no signal, dimmed screen etc.) I usually end up with 60% or more battery left at the end of the day.

I agree... I tend to turn off auto updates on facebook, twitter, etc... compared to previous phones I've used, the Optimus has remarkable battery life.

Is there a reason my phone randomly reboots so does my wifes is there a, log file

If you are overclocking, it might be set too high. If not try a dirty flash of reborn. Don't wipe anything.

I also had this problem. Random reboots, and totally freezing when the screen turned off (can't turn it back on, have to pop the battery). I have the default overclock of 748. Dirty flash did not fix it, so I did a clean flash (when I upgraded from 2.0 to 2.1 I did not wipe data) and it seems to have fixed the problem.

I had one (that I'm aware of) spontaneous reboot under 2.0... haven't seen any reboots under 2.1...

It's based off of the latest Sprint/LG VD update which is froyo 2.2.2

I think you still get the OTA notification, but you should not install the OTA update on a custom ROM or if you value your root access

I may have overlooked this, but is this ROM based on Gingerbread? And if so, will OTA Updates still be pused to the phone?

It's pretty much stated on the first post of this page:

PLEASE DO NOT REPORT GENEREAL ANDROID/SPRINT/FROYO/LG BUGS.

And of course, one could always look under menu>>settings>>about phone.

One could expect to get an OTA update, if for example LG went to a 2.2.x (x>2), as well as if/when lg goes to 2.3.y

UPDATE: Not fixed! The phone still freezes when the screen is off and I have to pop the battery, also rebooting spontaneously sometimes. Tried turning down the overclock to 729 and it didn't help.

I will try a dirty flash, but that didn't help before when I tried (before I did the full wipe). Anyone else? This is a major problem, and my friend with the same phone and Reborn 2.1 is having the exact same issue. Suggestions? I will also try clocking back down to 600, but that kills one of the biggest reasons to root/custom ROM...

Thanks!

crud I backed up my LG ROM with Xenonia custom recovery, but had issues flashing to the Reborn ROM, so I flashed a better recovery and same issue, so I re-downloaded the Reborn ROM and it flashed just fine, but I forgot to do a new nandroid backup with the newer recovery, so now in order to roll back(If I ever need to) I have to roll back to the xenonia recovery then restore, oh well not the end of the world, so far the Reborn is very nice, I like having over 120MB left on my local storage after installing most every app I had before(always had about 20MB before even after moving everything I can to SD) Nice work on this ROM.

Hey there, so I tried flashing this ROM to my phone but for some reason it keeps failing. It says it cant open the zip file because of unknown error and aborts. Attached is the complete log showing that i've selected to clear data, cache, and dalvik. I'm not sure if it actually is though. I'm really new at this and can't figure out what else to do. Should I use a different custom recovery program. Downloading ROM again to see if that helps. Thanks

Your second idea is what I recommend. Redownload and try to flash that.

Start fresh. You won't have any problems.

You changed the zip or it is corrupt. Signature verification failed. Re-download and retry or turn signature verification off in recovery.
