That was the problem buddy... When I removed all data, the blank calendar would sync in 30 seconds flat. I would export my ical file (hell it originally came from an outlook PST file many moons ago), clearing the sync conduit, then re-syncing. Bang - no problems, I could add/delete/edit on either the web or the phone at it would instantly update on both- as is should! As soon as I re-imported the ical file - it would blow up my whole gapps. Remove it, no problems. Add it back... you get the picture.
That's why I said it was so strange, that I was able to take the
exact same exported .ical file, import it to my secondary gmail and it would sync no problems. But no way, no how was it going to sync with my main account.
I had a bad feeling from the start I was going to end up manually rebuilding my calendar file. It wasn't until I added my 2nd gmail account calendar to my primary calendar screen with cal sharing (so I could see both calendars and events together on the same page) and went event by event, clicking "add event to XXX calendar" after I had sync going on a clean base, that things started working properly. Same events, from the same file, this time copied out entry by entry and pasted into my main calendar. This worked when NOTHING else would... In all reality, I didn't recreate it by hand (all the appointment data carried over, minus the recurrence schedule) I just had to copy each entry from one cal to the other and then set the recurrence.
No real explanation, just one of those weird cloud/xml/data things I suppose. If there was an actual problem with the file, it shouldn't have worked on my other gmail. If there was nothing wrong with the file, then clearing and re-importing on my primary account should have worked. It just simply.... didn't... for whatever reasons. Frustrating, for sure.
But fixed now!
