[ROM] TrulyEpic Rebirth v1.5 AC - no planned EB13 update :'(

I gave up on the WIFI issue after troubleshooting it from so many different angles. I am just too lazy to call Samsung and get a replacement shipped out. It happens with stock Eclair DI18 and with Froyo DK28. I had it fixed for a while once after updating Profile/PRL, but then when I flashed to Froyo it appeared again. Its such an odd problem, at least for me. It seems too buggy and as a result just too difficult to isolate. (I just got done reading the last 10 pages of the forum to see what people had to say regarding the WIFI issue, I do not believe wiping clean will fix it as I have done that 6-7 times now).

Do you have WIFI tethering installed?

Yes I do as well. If people feel this issue played out without foreseeable resolution and would rather not clog the forums ill refrain. Just lemme know

That's not the first time in this thread someone has said they had WiFi issues on multiple Android versions or ROMs. I'm going to chalk this up to possibly being hardware related. If anyone has new evidence/info to present please do, but that's what it looks like as of now.

Really enjoying TrulyEpic, but on two occasions upon full discharge of the battery I seem to lose link with my Google Account, and I'm presented with the "press the android" animation, even though - and this is especially strange - my apps still seem to be present after this "partial" hard reset.

To be safe I performed a hard-reset before restoring the Google Account.

After restoring my Google Account only *some* of my apps are restored. I can easily restore from Market, but the new online Android Market actually shows the missed apps are installed, bizarre.

Additionally Launcher Pro isn't picking up all my apps.

Don't care much about the Market/Apps issue, but I'm a bit worried about the multiple unexplained resets after full discharge.

My path has been:

Stock Eclair -> DK28 Original Leak -> CWM 2.x + Eclair Restore To Fix GPS -> Back to DK28 Original -> CWM3 + TrulyEpic 1.1 -> TrulyEpic 1.2 -> TW Lock Screen Restore -> Gingerbread Theme -> Gingerbread Clock.

Always followed instructions, double clearing of user data/cache/dalvik via CWM3 but I'm feeling like I missed something, open to suggestions to resolve either problem.

Getting more and more angry with Samsung as time goes on and Galaxy S is still without Froyo.

Does anyone know if someone has fixed the issue with the epic dialer where the keypad disappears in landscape mode?

It's only an issue because you're expecting a landscape keypad, there simply isn't one in the Epic's Dialer App, never has been.

I can only assume they expect us to slide open the keyboard and use the numbers there if we need to use the dialer in landscape mode.

Slide open the keyboard, there's your landscape keypad.

I have had this problem happen twice. I use my phone a lot. I usually need to replace my battery with a backup once a day.

Two times when I replaced the battery my Epic was totally unusable because the home screen is trashed and I get constant FC's. The other time the phone went into constant reboot.

To restore my phone I went back to a CW backup that I had on my phone. This made my phone operational.

Is there some type of cache in Truly Epic that I need to wait for my phone write this cache?

Any other suggestions? I am tired of losing my Angry Birds levels!!!!!

Filtering backwards through the HUNDRED pages your post was the only one that matched my situation.

I also have the Galaxy S Spare Battery Charger, swapping once a day usually, I always shut down fully, and wait for the vibe and front soft-keys to go out before pulling the bat.

The occasions when the phone reset itself were times when the thing FULLY DIED without being powered off.

Lastly, at least for me when doing video chat or Google Mobile Navigation, the battery will discharge slowly when connected to (vehicle) power, so don't connect to power thinking you can charge *and* use the thing like you would a laptop.

I'm a heavy heavy mobile user, this is my primary device right ahead of iPad and laptop, I'm on my feet or on the road 14-18 hours a day catching babies falling from the sky, I think I'm putting this thing through a decent beating.

I respect my technology like a soldier respects their weapon.

Just to make your installation path easier you can skip going go TER v 1.1 when you do your CWM3 conversion and go straight to TER v1.2

Fully understandable about your disappoitment with the resets when running the battery down to almost dead. I personally haven't had this problem but my wife did on her Epic back running Bonsai v1.1.2 then I upgraded her to Bonsai v1.1.3 and she hasn't had a problem since. She won't let me touch it anymore since its running good now for over a month. :(

Anyways I'm not sure what causes this since I've heard of it on multiple roms. It comes and goes.

Hardly makes sense. If that's the case they would have locked orientation on the dialer until you pull out the keyboard. There's a big black empty space. I can't agree with you that its intentional. I would be interested to see what a galaxy s sans hard keyboard such as the fascinate does in this situation. I would not be surpised if the black space is still there.

On this dialer pad situation in landscape mode we can sit here and debate about it all day long. Fact still remains there is no dialer pad. Its not in Froyo and its not in Eclair to my knowledge either. If there was one we could add in there trust me Ragnarokx or I would post a file to add the option. Really when I think about it I never dial the phone or make a phone call in landscape mode.

Big picture, lack of landscape dialer is an issue non-specific to TER (Truly Epic ROM), take it out of this thread.

This was a historical timeline, did v1.1 1st and got v1.2 when it was eventually released.

I'll keep an eye on the resets, I do believe it happens if the phone is unexpectedly shut down without soft landing, such as if the battery drains to nothing during navigation, video call, etc.

If you can give me a scenario that will ensure a self shutdown so I can replicate the problem, I'll be happy to troubleshoot it and include a fix in v1.3 (currently in the works).

Really enjoying this ROM. Had issues initially, but later realized it was because I had restored a backup. Did a clean factory reset, and set everything up by hand. It's been rock solid ever since, and my battery life is MUCH improved.

Thanks again.

Awesome, just did some testing pulling the battery 3x in a row and was not able to reproduce on my end, the two times it did happen for me were when the battery was already very very low, which - if my memory serves me correctly - seemed to cause a boot loop, which THEN resulted in the blanking of settings.

To further confirm I'm going to run down my battery today and attempt get some additional on-camera verification of the problem for ya.

Also, I'm noticing now watching it three times straight, boot-up is wicked fast, easily to lock screen in 30 secs, maybe helped to format my SD last night.

If there's a correlation between battery level and reboot problems, it could be related to the low voltage script. I was already going to either remove or update it, so if you can't pinpoint the problem that might just fix it anyway.

I'm going to be getting an Epic soon and was looking through ROMs. Everywhere I went to said this was the ROM to get. Can't wait to try it out!

Anyone know how I can get the Sprint Visual Voicemail app back on my Epic? I have been trying to locate the apk with no luck. How did everyone else get it back after applying the ROM?

TIA

Nevermind I just read the first post and found the link. After reading the posts about the text message/voicemail issue this will be the next thing I need to fix.

Still the best ROM!

i noticed that i have some seriouse lag time on my home sreen shortcuts restoring after returning from apps... sometimes not at all but pretty frequent. seems to have gotten worse. probably because im running more apps now. anyone else experiencing this. Normal? any fixes?
