[ROM] TrulyEpic Rebirth v1.5 AC - no planned EB13 update :'(

It's kind of an on-going theme according to the dev's bug list. Go with the green iconed "Wireless Tether". No, that one doesn't support infrastruture mode for peripheral devices, but it'll get your laptop connected. If you are trying to get such devices connected, look for hacks specific to those devices for getting them on adhoc networks. I broke down and went this route to get my Nook Color connected. Hope this helps.

THANKS! I'm trying it now, so hopefully it doesn't crash my phone. I'm not sure why there was a strong emphasis on this roundabout way of getting wireless tether on my phone when we could've just downloaded it from the market like usual.

Also refreshing that there are still people are this thread too.

This is still one helluva ROM, the first one I used, so it has a little sentimental value to keep the subscription... :)

Also, and it was explained somewhere in the depth of this thread, that the "Wifi" tether was included as a way of getting infrastructure wireless networks to run through your phone. I.e., to get my nook and ipod and xbox to play nice. Turns out, the dev's been fighting this issue in the background for awhile. I don't blame Rag or Paul for including a stripped bolt to the assembly, it's a case by case problem. they had no problem with it so thought it reasonable that no one else would either. Probably the same problem the dev is going through to get it working. Just remember, he's trying to get it to work on an OS with a saturation of devices and not all toys play nice in the sandbox, know what I'm saying? :)

Absolutely. I have nothing but gratitude for the developers of this ROM. I guess it got lost in me throughout this thread why there was a difference between the Wifi Tethers. Thanks for filling me in on the details.

Btw, I noticed that you changed your ROM to ACE v1.6/Genocide v0.3a. Hows that been for you and do you have a link to the thread?

How important is EB13, really? I thought the reason we were waiting for the kernal release is without it dev's couldn't do things like CPU and battery tweaks.

You are correct - source code is needed for things like kernel undervolting and overclocking.

But then I noticed some of the ROM's have custom kernals. And isn't EB13 based on DK28, the same one the devs worked from?

EB13 and DK28 are similar enough that many things are interchangeable, which is why DK28 got a custom kernel once EB13 source code was released.

Here's what I'm thinking now: Samsung dev's are HOPELESSLY inept, so whatever tweaks EB13 allows, they will be inferior to a custom kernal an independent dev comes up with, and anything Samsung made out of DK28 will be inferior to everything the independent dev's made out of it.

Is this a reasonable assumption? Or was Samsung able to do something with EB13 that the dev community was waiting for, and now EB13 based ROM's will be the best?

I see what you're saying, but "independent devs" don't create kernels from scratch. They tweak what Samsung has provided. It would be like saying: the home remodelers do such a wonderful job, who needs the original construction crew? Although they may make incredible improvements, without a foundation to work with there would be nothing to customize.

Quite frankly I'm loving it. It brings to the table a lot of the innovations and work-mindedness this ROM brought. I believe that's mainly because it was designed by Paul who helped out so much with this one. I see a lot of people out there pimping the ACS and Viper ROMs, and while there level of sophistication is extraordinary, I enjoy how the AC boys have kept it simple, allowing us to do the tinkering.

Does anyone know the process to move off this rom to one of the newer EB13 roms? Do I need to update Clockwork from 3.0.0.5 to 3.0.0.6? TIA

I think the recommended method is to Odin to Stock EB13, then install CWM 3.0.0.6 with one-click-root method, then wipe/flash new ROM.

Have they release another "official" version of Froyo for the epic? or are you talking about the one they released then immediately removed?

I believe they are speaking of Froyo EB13. That is currently the ONLY official Froyo regardless of Sprint/Sammy pulling the update.

i'v been using this rom for a couple of weeks now and for some reason the gyroscope stopped working did this happen to anyone else or just me?

if you're into customization you can play around with the framework .apks and change the images used for background during lock mode. just find which .png it is, edit it with Gimp, photoshop, etc, put your name on it, 7zip drag/drop it all back together and presto!

maybe ill use THIS as the start of my video logs... >.< (want to make a youtube series about how to do stuff like i've been learning. woulda been nice to have vids when i was searching for info. nothing really online besides reading material. woulda loved a video. now i know how to do some stuff and want to share how)

I would definitely watch your video! I am about at the point of wanting to learn a little theming myself.... especially blackening out certain apps and such :)

Hello everyone. I have been browsing this site since October 2010 and this is my first post. Let me first start with thanking Ragnarokx for this awesome ROM. It has been working great for a few weeks until today when I keep getting a forceclose message for AMLauncher. I started the phone on clockworks and fix permissions. This seemed to fix the problem for a little while but it started back up again. Anyone have an idea why this keeps happening?

Traumahawk- Looking forward to your videos!
