[ROM] UNL3ASH3D V1.0 [BLURRY] MOTO Kernel (09/22/2011)

Yeah I can't wait to try this thing with 893 fixes. I just need some time to load it because I'm assuming this will be another nuke situation as I saw the twitter conversation and it sounds like possibly a new kernel and radio file are included in the ota.

Th3ory tweeted that 2.0 is available. ROM installed fine and Market Fix and Camera Fix are in... course I thought I got smart with the Experience addon... ugh.

While .893 is part of the ROM, please note that it does not replace the KERNAL or Radio with the newest version. To do this you really need to know what you are doing and follow instructions to a T. I decided to ignore the radio/kernal steps because I didn't want to flash back to stock and do things again. Unfortunately... I figured out a way to soft brick this morning because I am a moron :)

So looks like im AP Fastboothing back (Note.. FXZ is the new SBF).

That sucks hope you get it all fixed. Yeah I'm not sure if I want to go through the whole process to do the .893 update... doing it on your own will give the new kernal and radios but I'm not sure I even need that, I don't have any data issues and don't know nil about kernals or why it needs updating, lol. Plus it definitely is a long process and I don't want to screw it up :-[

Probably will just update to 2.0 without it and take my chances. Assuming you fixed your phone, how is 2.0?

2.0 has been very solid. Only thing that isn't working as far as I can tell is the zoom out on the camcorder with a finger swipe.. But you can still use the minus side. Seems very stable. Camera is now from the X so its slightly better than stock. The market is fixed. I still need to test some less used stuff but this seems like a solid build. Soft bricks I can deal with but the new radio and kernel are a whole different kind of scary to me. Devs are bricking off that puppy.

Im hoping p3DROID or th3ory come up with some script to do it with the proper spacing as part of a future root.

Yeah I agree I'm not doing the .893 on my own. Just dove in wiped and flashed 2.0.. that boot animation is almost scary haha... literally just finished booting so I'm giving it a few minutes to settle in before setting up everything and taking a tour...

EDIT: All setup now. Seems to be running good and smooth. I hate wiping though. TiBu works good for restoring my apps with all their data intact, but the process is annoying. Hate having to rejoin all contacts to their facebook ones too. Anyway... I'm holding off on the 3xp3ri3nc3 add on for now, I wasn't a huge fan of it before. Powerboost script ran and seemed to go through all right, even though it kept giving me messages about the directories not existing (I deleted the unthrottle ones per the instructions..) it passed the check at the end and said it was up and running. So hopefully no issues crop up!

couple question...

I installed the experience addon, but i dont notice anything.... can anyone tell me what this addon was suppose to change?? maybe i installed it wrong..

Same goes for Powerboost thing. how do i check if i installed in correctly?? i dont notice anything..

thx ahead

Experience is an addon that puts in the powerboost 2.0 functionality in. After its put on you can use terminal emulator to enable it and do things like modify the boot behavior (always boot to recovery). If you run the script, i think option 6 will tell you if the powersaver is on.

The script is a little buggy and I don't suggest turning on the boot to recovery as I couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Powerboost 2.0 seems like an alternate way to make the battery drain a little better. I need to test it for a while until I say how well it works.

Also for anyone using this ROM, I have found an issue when Fastbooting back to stock. The camera and camcorder app disappear all together. This is most likely because they are replaced. I think this might be an issue for anyone looking to unroot. I will try to post something over on rootwiki or I will pm Th3ory to have a look.

Oh word, yeah def let th3ory know... I'm assuming since you reflashed you got camera back for now anyways right? Also the Experience add on just affects UI stuff, such as making all of the menus and notification pull down black themed, you don't need it to run the Powerboost script. Powerboost is baked right into the ROM itself, at least it is with 2.0... Unless I'm mistaken but I don't think I am, I ran the script without installing experience this time as I wasn't a big fan of the fully blacked out look last time.

@BringItSon... After running the script the first time be sure you rebooted. In the terminal emulator after the powerboost script has been run, option 6 or so (not positive) gives you the option to Check Mods... like it says, this will check and verify that you installed them and they're running correctly.

I installed 2.0 yesterday, but then decided I wanted to install the .893 kernel. Took me a while to figure it all out, but after flashing back to stock, getting the update, and then flashing back to 2.0, this sucker is SMOOTH. And I just installed powerboost and the exp3rience add on, going to see how well it works out now. I'm loving that I'm getting much better cell standby now, I haven't had much of an issue with 4G dropping as much as I did. And Titanium Backup is doing a good job of backing up and restoring my apps, and everything else I need is stored on the cloud, on my Google account. Only issue is I lose my text messages and such, and I know there's a way to back that up, but I'm too lazy.
Anyways, if you got about an hour or two (unless you know what you're doing) I suggest flashing the .893 update and installing 2.0, it's much much better.

Yeah I have been itching to do it, especially since its sounding easier and I see a lot of noobs are being able to get through it alright, lol. If I don't do it soon I think I might wait til reblurred 2.1 is out because th3ory said it should be very soon, and that would mean one less wipe job haha. How do you back up texts? I thought there might have been a way but couldn't find it for the life of me. Hate losing them on every wipe!

EDIT: Oh and wow P3droid just posted the full ota files on his site so now one could skip the cheesecake method (http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...found-update-files-read-before-you-flash.html)
Does this sound like the right order to you.. I'm on 2.0 now:
1. Use this to go back to stock http://rootzwiki.com/topic/5484-one-click-fastboot-restore-and-root-for-the-bionic-v21/
2. Make sure we root and add the lines for Forever Root... need to make sure I reinstall root explorer obviously
3. Flash the OTA files (either from p3's site or cheesecake... I'm pretty clear on the method)
4. Make sure there are NO copies of unthrottled folder on internal or external sd
5. Do full system/data wipe, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, Flash reblurred 2.0

Let me know if anything sounds off with that... Thanks bud!

1. Use this to go back to stock One-click fastboot restore and root for the bionic v2.1 - RootzWiki

In step 2, I read somewhere that you have to be careful to set the right permissions when you save the system file after adding lines to it. Otherwise you run the risk of a soft bricking.

Also, I think you only have to get rid of the unthrottled folders if you plan on adding the experience addon after you have already flashed reblurred.

I plan on getting this whole process done myself tonight. I'm thinknig of using RSD Lite to flash back to stock, because it seems a lot of people were getting bricky using that one click batch file.

Saw someone else mentioned that.. What's RSD Lite? If you could explain and give a link I'd much appreciate, thx!

I understand it as a Motorola program that uses an img file (known as an FXZ) to revert the system of the phone to whatever that file says. So, that being said, if you get the stock bionic FXZ file, and you flash it to the phone in RSD Lite, it will revert the phone back to the way it was when you pulled it out of the box.

There are links for it all over rootzwiki, I would find it for you but I'm at work and I the administrator has certain sites blocked here.

Being new to the whole Rom thing, Im a bit scared. I was going to give this a go, but after looking at their thread (the last few pages).. Seems there are a dozen steps. Someone was saying you have to go stock, then root, then do this version,m then forever root, then this version then this... Seems like a lot of work and a lot of steps that I could easily mess up. =/

Good thing there is a video of how to install haha.

I just sucked my balls up and dove in.. Used the One-click-restore and root because I felt comfortable enough with it... That got me back to stock. Rooted, installed Root Explorer applied the Forever Root script, Rebooted to be sure it saved. Installed the Cheesecake app. Seems I grabbed the update. Phone is installing right now... and we will see if it all gets applied and I'm still rooted *CROSSING FINGERS*

Lol I'll update on my progress in a bit...

EDIT: Alright So far so GOOD! OTA update was applied and still have root. Flashing reblurred 2.0 now...

You're right, it is a lot. But on the bright side, one you Forever Root, you won't have to revert to stock for newer updates.
In essence, we kind of jumped the gun by rooting and ROMing on a phone that was buggy, and expecting an OTA update anyway ;)

Gravy train :)

Running .893 system, updated radios and kernal, fully reblurred 2.0 install with experience and powerboost scripts in place... lol feels good to say all that. The longest/hardest part was reinstalling all my market apps, haha. Will wait a while to judge how sick battery life is and if the radio strength is noticeably better but I have good feelings about it. I mean my signal strength has always been pretty good but everyone who installed this stuff correctly is saying a big improvement. Guess I should go clean the apt now like I promised the roommate I would hours ago :)

Runs great so far, but I think some people are getting confused about the 3XP3RIENC3 add on pack...it only changes the UI, it doesn't install Powerboost. Powerboost is a separate script that needs to be installed. At the moment, his link to the script isn't pointing to the correct place...

Just got done running though restore -> re-root -> forever root -> cheesecake -> .893 upgrade.

I haven't even done anything with the device yet, and I've noticed that -sitting here on my mousepad- it went from 2.5 bars 4G (before) to 4 bars 4G (after). This is gonna be good.

Now for some [R3]blurr3d 2.0 action...

Seeing folks go for the forever root method, I dug in and just completed it. I think I will wait for 2.1 before re-blurr3ding.

I went a slightly different method than you guys:
FBZ with RSDLite 5.5 --> Pete's Root Method --> Forever Root --> p3s supplied OTA file which I renamed update.zip and flash recovered.

I apparently didn't screw it up as I have root. Unfortunately I still have no camera or camcorder, so I can't test if those components got upgraded with 893. I will either have to use the ones from Unl3ash3d 2.1 when its released or 3rd party apps for that.

I will test it rooted / stock for a day or two to see how it works.
