Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/9/2011

i just came from reborn 2.2.2, how does the battery life of cm7 compare?

I'm not sure. I think it all depends on what you normally use. I cannot answer that question because my battery life is crap. That's because I OC to 825/825, but I have my phone plugged in all day at work.

I'm still having issues with wired headset. People on the other end complain of not being able to hear certain things I say. The way they describe it, it almost sounds like the mic is intermittent and the sensitivity is very low. Anyone else have feedback for wired headset?

Am I the only one checking like every 5 minutes? :p

Yesterday my battery lasted 20 hours with normal use. Including web browsing, GPS navigation and texting.

Today I've been unplugged for 6 hours and 20 minutes with moderate - normal use and I'm at 90% battery.

I have not adjusted the clock speeds at all since flashing newest version and I am very pleased.

One big help for conserving battery is Advanced Task Killer. I have it setup to autokill once an hour. Also, it does not interrupt an app if I am using it when it engages to autokill.

I don't want to start a debate over this because people have always been on the edge on this topic, but 2.2+ doesn't require a task killer because of far superior memory management. Your phone will probably last the same amount of time that it does without the task killer, its merely a placebo effect.

Well, I, for one, am not going to be doing anything ROM related for the next few days so I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

Well before the task killer my battery wouldn't last longer than 11 hours with my normal usage

I found these notes in languages_full.mk at ~/build/target/product.

Okay, open an issue on GitHub with the appropriate instructions. I don't have this problem (and don't remember my phone ever indicating 'Md' as a language. However, since I haven't done a factory wipe since I installed the 'aosp' ROM I can't confirm the problem.

What I can tell you is that the locale is set to 'mdpi' as it is in some (but not all?) CM7 mdpi devices.

Why wouldn't google just create something like "ro.product.resolution.class=mdpi"?

Because, like everything else with Android, resolution independent stuff is really half-baked. And, like everything CM, it's put out by a group of elitist folks who can't be assed to document anything.

I hear you. Stupid me has to compile all over again because I forgot to sync and all I ended up doing is wasting 3 hours compiling the same build as before, lol.

Forgetting.... there should be an app for that...LOL ;)

Did the Sprint Voicemail get added to this rom in the update? Thats the only reason I switched back to Shell ROM for the time being. I hate calling for voicemail.. I know its a dumb reason.

There is always google voice which is much better than sprint voicemail.

How would I open an issue on Github? I'm new to the whole dev thing. Would it be at the Cyanogenmod Github? I know how to navigate through the site to post it but where exactly? Also wouldn't someone else need to confirm this to make sure it's not just another problem with my "hacked up" builds?

Every android phone on networks that allow conditional call forwarding gets free VVM through google voice. It also happens to be more robust than sprint's offering so win/win

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/9/2011

I'm somewhat new to the scene. i have the rom up and running, looks pretty good, but i have a couple questions. (i've already spent a ton of time searching for info, sorry if i missed answers.)

1) the buttons at the top of the notification bar, can they be changed? is it a settings thing? a theme thing? i see this pic on the page 1 of this thread -> http://i56.tinypic.com/263ublk.png it has buttons for screen brightness and more, but mine has only wifi/bt/gps/sound

2) in the past i read about app2sd (darktremor) and in here there is reference to app2ext i think i should be using app2ext, but am unsure.
2a) is app2ext in this rom? the only thing i found was cmmod settings->application->allow application moving. is this it?
2b) how do you configure app2ext? (create the ext)
2c) when using app2ext, do you pick which apps are on the ext? what happens to your phone if your sd is having problems or if you want remove it? i'm hoping that i can make sure games and 'bonus' apps are on sd, but the core items are on my phone and it will continue to run without the sd.

sorry for the large number of questions, but i appreciate the time anyone takes to read/respond.

It's not that hard to put it yourself. I've had VVM in aosp's and now in this one as well.
