Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/9/2011

Not sure when the next update will be. Looks like blarf is working on some things, so I will most likely wait until he closes a few more issues before compiling again. In the meantime I am working on a vanilla build of gingerbread. It will be a long time coming though. I thought about using the Optimus One release, but that may be more work than stripping out CM stuff. Not sure yet. I just wanted to let you all know I was still around. Had no sleep for 3 days due to a pinched siatic nerve and lots of great pain meds. :D

I think your health is probably a bit more important than a new update my friend. Get some rest. And thank you for an amazing ROM.

Don't thank me. Thank blarf, all I am doing at this point is compiling his git.

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/9/2011

Would it be considered safe to simply custom restore data only from a previous rom, only to obtain settings and apps? Or would that restore something unwanted? Just not too sure I've been using that method for some time.

With titanium backup you can restore apps and data... its safe

As long as you're coming from another CM rom. I think it might mess up if you restore data from a froyo rom. Not sure though as I do not use Titanium Backup. If only donig apps it could be fine, but don't do system restore coming from anything other than CM type rom.

+1. I was assuming they were flashing the update. :)

yes I was coming from zefies, just found that method to be easier after a while. No problems thus far ;)

Am i the only one who cannot get the visual voicemail to work? I migrated the apk, changed permissions, then reboot. Then restored data via titanium backup. It downloads the current vms but doesn't update. I get the txt messages tho...

Less hassle with Google voice. I've come to terms with this and just use it as it always works with Android...

Ath3nos this is an excellent rom! Thanks for all of your hard work.

Obviously your health is more important... but which Optimus One source?

As far as unbundling from CM7, the worst of it would probably be ensuring that the proprietary stuff doesn't get clobbered. There are only a few changes made to the base framework and such.

idk if any one has said this yet but some times when i start my hot spot my phone restarts

Probably related to overclocking. Mine hadn't done that since I started using this code, but it did it for me just now. I'll have to see if I can reproduce it. Or if someone who isn't overclocked at all can reproduce it and get the logcat and dmesg output before it dies.

The one found on the LG Open Source Code Distribution site. The (Rummanian?) official code?

Yeah. That's where I am trying to learn my way around. I am not sure which things were changed in the framework. And as far as propritery stuff goes, I have no idea what would clobber it. It's all new to me still. I have a basic understanding, but not enough yet to know exactly where I need to make the changes. A lot of stuff to look through, lol.

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/9/2011

ath3nos, I've got four open issues right now... none of them are major. Barring any other significant bug reports, this is probably as good as it's going to get for right now. Eventually I'd like to get the audio (volume, postprocessing) and FM radio stuff sorted out, but the features I use on a regular basis are all working, so.

Can someone please open an issue if there are still BT audio (or other repeatable) problems? Thanks.

Also I'm still looking for the APN config info for the Optimus U, M, and C. Actually a zip (not a filesystem image) of the stock system FS for those phones would be killer.

I will try to get an update out tomorrow sometime.
