Rooting after official froyo

I couldn't get the one-click root to work, so I did this and it worked great - Thanks! I don't flash any roms / etc., but I read here (same source, Thanks again) that you can use cwm recovery as kind of a one shot deal in order to flash this zip, and when you reboot the phone it's gone (other than the fact that you now have root!). I don't know what I would do without the forum. I will tell you during the process I saw the little android guy with a big bright yellow exclamation point in a warning sign, which kind of freaked me out.

That means you're in download mode, which is where you need to be when flashing with Odin. No worries there. CWM Recovery does stick with the deodexed version of ED01 if you care to use that.

I have tried everything on this thread still no root only temp thru odin one click says unable to mount also tried super one click i am unable to access an adb shell it tells me not a command running win7 64B getting frustrated

When i flashed this through CWM, the next time i used CWM i went to blue too. I reflashed CWM ALL through odin again and it stayed red.

Nope. No one click and no manual push

I am using FascinateRoot_v02 and cannot root after Froyo update either. I cant make one click and I cant use the dos commands.

Thoughts?

UPDATE>>> I was able to root using Odin and CWM Method. Now to freeze some apps. :)

Rooting after Froyo 2.2 Official Update from Verizon

Hey guys, has anyone rooted their phone after getting the OTA Froyo OS from Verizon installed?

I have never rooted or installed the froyo leak on my phone. Has anyone successfully rooted their phone after getting the official Froyo? What method did you use? Also, if there's a no-pc one-click way of doing it, even better. Tried z4root but didn't work. Thank you.

Wow thanks for the great info. However, I have two questions in mind. I noticed the guide was posted 3/10/11, which was before the official froyo update for the Fascinate. Would this still work as intended? Secondly, when I go into recovery mode (vol up and down + power), my options are:

reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

I can't find an option that let's you specify which zip file to install. Does flashing with Odin supposed to make this option appear? For the record, I haven't done anything yet. I'll do it later when I get off work.

Sorry for being a noob at this. Thanks for the help.

To start off, yes, the first 2 methods DXC posted work to root, no matter what version your phone is. The alternative method, (the other 2 options) is to flash a ROM which already has root built into it. The options you're currently seeing when you boot into recovery mode are the phone stock recovery (blue text). That entire menu will be replaced when you flash CWM Recovery (red text) in Odin to have a whole new set of options.

Check out one of DXC's other walkthroughs, [How to] Install and Use Clockworkmod Recovery w/Screen captures to see what it will look like.

Rooting new stock Froyo

There's a ton of chatter going around about new ROMS & community ROMS etc....but I don't recall seeing anything about a simple root.
Do the old Rooting methods still work on the new stock Froyo?
I only want to root so that I can get my free tethering back. That's it.
