Rotary phone, dial up internet and the head phone jack

It's likely an antenna placement issue. In my case, turning the headset around is uncomfortable to wear. I also can't swap pockets with my phone due to my other pocket having my keys in it. Like you, it does work at longer distances. It's only when trying to connect across my body that causes the issue. Like I said, it seems to be due to the make up of our bodies specifically.

Mine doesn't seem to matter if it is behind me or in front of me at all. Hell I even go in the bathroom and it stays connected through 2-3 walls + piping. So I would say it may be the radio within your headset and/or phone that is more so the issue versus just BT itself.

My Bluetooth headsets work 30 feet away from the device without issue.

Heck, Bluetooth has trouble just transmitting through the human body (due to the amount of water in us from what I've read). My headset is barely usable if my phone is in my pocket.

I got these free headset from work (bosses went to auto show and got them free=cheaply made). The few times I used them, they worked as I walked around my apartment. I don't really like large headsets, so I haven't used them much.

No....in many cases the external adapter is an improvement.

I totally agree! I can't tell a difference.

And there's no need to be concerned about this non-issue when using usb-c. I've been using a USB-C adapter with my favorite headphones (though I normally use bt) on my oneplus pro and it sounds great!

In other words... we still have the same options.

For the types of phones that have the DAC built into the adapter I have found that the sound is usually better

Right. I used to used a portable dac with my note, but it was too cumbersome for me.

A little off topic, but are there currently phones with built in dacs using usb-c (without the use of an adapter cable) and no headphone jack?

There are lots of people that have good experience with the under screen FPS. Negative attention always gets the lime light. I love the FPS on me S10+.
I had the 10+ and really liked the fps as well. One of the things I'm really looking forward to on the Note 10+

Moto devices do but that might limit the earbuds you can you use. Their dongle is a pass thru adapter and has no DAC. Most type C buds or headphones use their own built in DAC.

Let's be clear: The headphone jack is not gone

Just no longer integrated, it's external. If you have a specific need for a headphone jack, like external speakers, you can still do it. I understand you can't charge via the USB-C port while doing this but with a large battery it shouldn't be an issue. Or use a wireless charger. If you jog with wired headphones you're still good. If you work at a desk you're still good, just charge with a Qi charger.

I like it too. It's not perfect but it works good enough for me. I hear that on the Note 10 the sensor is a little higher up

Well, the 3.5mm headphone jack is gone if we're looking for accuracy in wording but I feel ya.

Wow...

Re: Let's be clear: The headphone jack is not gone

Nah man. It’s gone as it’s no different to most of the other phones that lack a 3.5mm jack on the phone itself.

Either the jack is there or it ain’t.

Thank god ! Haven't had a use for that extra hole in years. :p
