Rumor 4.0.5 in april

All I want is more stability, camera bugs squashed and new radios. Hopefully I'm not being unreasonable with those requests!

I haven't ran into any camera bugs. What are they?

I have constant problems with the camera not responding. Theres a thread on this as well. Ill go into the camera app, take a few pictures and then the app will crash. Ill get a wait/close/report menu. If i wait, i get a black screen. If i close it or exit it on the multitask menu it just wont open anymore. I am then forced to reboot the phone. If i am taking alot of pictures for some reason i'm lucky if i get 20 pictures out of it before it happens again. But sometimes it wont happen at all. Really random so its been tough for me to troubleshoot. I would love for the update to remedy this as well as the data handoffs. If not ill be looking for another phone this summer.

Are you stock Nexus? Or are you rooted and rommed?

I'm stock and have never had a hiccup with more than 1,000 photos taken.

Stock and locked phone... I get that camera issue all the time. A fix would be wonderful...

Stock no root here. It only happens sometimes. I can still take pictures its just sometimes the camera fc's. Its still something that can be addressed

Same here. Stock with no root. I didn't have it happen for the first 45 days (granted I was not using the camera much). Now I get it once a week or so.

I can say that my wife and I have been running the 4.0.4 leak from 6 weeks ago and have had none of the problems in this thread. It's fast, smooth and pretty nice. It switches from 3G to 4G or to Wifi with smooth ease. And my 4G connection has been very stable in fact the -dBm is way better with 4.0.4 then it was on 4.0.2 ...

I suppose unlocking, rooting and running a stock, stable leak is the thing to do. ;)

Myself I will be extremely happy I have had at least 10 reboots since December 15th 2011 on my Galaxy Nexus and I am sure the signal strenght problem exist on my unit. I look forward to 4.0.5 bring it on it can't be any worse...:):)

The difference is there is a legitimate SOURCE this time, unlike 15,000 people saying "my verizon rep told me..." Whether or not it's April is still to be decided, but if the build is out there, and Verizon is testing it, that's far enough for me to assume it's actually likely. There's been a new version of android every month since the Nexus came out, maybe this will be the one to hit OTAs, maybe not.

Of course I wont believe it until I see it, but I think there's a better possibility we may actually see this one as an OTA.

It's only marginally more legit.

No offense intended but I could sent a message to that extent to all of the major Android blogs out there claiming to be an inside source, and almost certainly at least ONE of them would run it, and then once that happened most of the rest (with the probable exception of AC) would follow suit because they thought that the other blog must have gotten more info than they had.

EDIT: and in other news.. my HTC Vivid (stock) is now running a nwere version of Android than my Galaxy Nexus (also stock) #FAIL

Never said you did, just meant that in general blogs proporting to be from inside sources are not always more reliable than reps as a good number of them are fake too. Your track record speaks for itself, and I really hope it pans out :)

And as for it not being better I do agree (in general) but I also find it ironic that once again a skinned phone on another carrier got the newest Android before a stock phone on Verizon.

(In this case I am referring to the fact that the Evo on Sprint was the first non Nexus phone to get Froyo two yeas ago even before the completely Stock Motola Droid, and now the HTC Vivid (Sense) got the newest Android 4.0.3 before the Nexus on Verizon.)

I couldn't care less what version number comes onto the GNex, as long as it makes it a better phone. Get some!!!

No hating intended but if you think that GNexus is a better phone then you're in dreamland. The signal reception issue alone makes this device unusable for me as a daily driver. The DBM on this device is anywhere from 11 to 28 lower than the other 4G Verizon devices i have here (Droid 4, Thunderbolt, Rezound, Bionic, RAZR). If you're in a place that always has strong signal and dont go into any buildings then great, but if signal is marginal at all it is VERY noticeable. I know two Verizon reps who have returned (and one more who was on the fence last time I talked to him) because of this very reason.

I'm just waiting to see how many more major updates the vivid gets. I bet it won't get jellybean or whatever as fast. While us with nexus phones will get it asap either by an ota or flashing. HTC and AT&T will update next years new model (released with ICS) faster than this phone.
