(Rumor) Our Note 9s will be junk compared to THIS!

Re: Our Note 9s will be junk compared to THIS!

Is there a time when all 3 cameras would be utilized simultaneously? Even if you were using all three cameras at the same time you would not need the extra ram.

Lol I would think so
But like I said just because a phone has 6gb ram dont mean its 6gb free ram , your phone needs for syst/apps to run about 3.5gb so really you have 2.5 left .

3.5 is not required. Phones with 4gb utilize apx 2.5.
Phones with more memory are using more because they can.

The LG V40 has 5 cameras, 2 front and 3 rear. It has a function that uses all 3 rear cameras at once, and only has 6 GB of RAM. My V20 has a mode that uses both of the 2 rear and the front camera at the same time, and it has 4 GB of RAM.

So I think it's safe to say the cameras wouldn't necessitate that much memory.

Cheap lap tops have somewhere around 12 GB Ram and process speeds around 1.80 ghz or more. With phones like samsung and DEX capable, why not crank things up a bit. Just think working on spread sheets with the S Pen, not just doodling! Fire it up Samsung because I WANT only the best of the best......Thats how I roll!

That's pretty neat they can use all camera at same time. I wonder if you multitask and using all camera if it can handle it ? What would be the purpose to use all same time better picture quality?

I think multitasking at this point has more to do with processing power than RAM usage.

As for using multiple cameras at the same time, I can see in the case of the V20, it's good to capture the user's reactions along with whatever they are getting a photo/video of. In the case of the V40, it's aimed at getting a photo with all 3 viewing angles so you can pick the best afterwards.

That's pretty cool on the camera tech
I think both go hand and hand processing power and ram equally important for smooth operation.

This seems like a lot of overkill. Almost like building a PC with 64 GB of RAM, a Titan GPU, an i9 CPU, and custom liquid cooled only to use it to watch YouTube videos.

What mode are you referring to on the V20?

Great from a marketing perspective for those that think more horsepower is always better

In the Auto mode, there's a dedicated MODE button, which includes "popout." Because it's an automatic mode, image quality can be hit and miss. 1129181542.jpeg

Also, still working on Christmas decorations. Lol

I thought that might be what you meant. What I am referring to when using more than 1 camera is to utilize more than 1 to take the shot

That's what this is. It's all three cameras active in the live preview and when taking the shot. You can select which camera by swiping in the frame you want changed.

You take 3 shots individually and merges them into one.

I guess I need to further clarify. Using more than one camera to take a single phone at the same time. For example using 2 cameras for better depth of field.

I think I get you. In both cases, multiple cameras are used at the same time, just for different reasons.

Right in the case I'm referring to a lot more processing would be going on.

In that case, the HTC One M8 had a depth of field sensor in addition to the camera to manipulate the image. It wasn't perfect, but decent and that phone was 2 GB of RAM. LOL

Yeah I think it's just companies playing the spec game to justify their price point at and above the $1k mark.

I mean it's only probably been a few years where only the top three would release their flagship phones with the latest processors and screens and new tech and cost the most... while the competition would release phones with the previous years QC processors (Probably locked out from getting the latest immediately) and specs to compete in cost.

Look at phones now and especially this year... OnePlus 6T for example. Latest QC845, 6.4" OLED, 6/8GB Ram, 128/256GB memory, 3700mah battery, Gorilla Glass 6... running pie and one of the fastest charging while Sammy still using QC2.0(??). They even got the in-glass FPS out before Samsung even though the rumor mill had them working on it for years... all for about $550 for the lower spec model??

And news came out just the other day OnePlus is coming out with a McClaren Edition at end of year with 10GB ram just to take the top ram claim for 2018 I guess. These companies are gunning after Sammy are just getting so much better.

Forget the Pixel VS S9 comparo, I think the specs on the OnePlus 6T probably make it as good if not the better phone than the S9+. Heck the Huawei Mate 20 Pro out-specs the S9+ this year (In-glass FPS, 4200mah battery, higher DXOMarked 3-camera system. Samsung's gonna have to throw in everything + the kitchen sink in the S10 to stay ahead and justify their prices.

Great from a marketing perspective for those that think more horsepower is always better
