S Pen doesn't write in Verizon Messages Plus

Hi, I can't get my S pen to write in Verizon Messages +. It does write in Google search fields and other fields and then converts the writing to texts. Any help is much appreciated. S22 Ultra (Verizon)

Could you be more specific in what's happening? Are you unable to select writing mode when using Verizon messages or do you write but it doesn't convert it to text?

Thanks. You educated me. I had not selected writing mode. I did that and now all is good.
