S Pen new "feature"

I never use s Pen for anything except as tapping, nothing else. There is now a small innocuous pen icon on my screen for side bar functions to smart select, take notes, etc.

Turn off and my pen is off. Cannot interact with the screen. Move pen away, it goes away but anytime I bring pen close, there it is. Distracting, in the way, can't get rid of.

And.. taking a screenshot shows this f'ing pen. It. Gets. In. The. Way.

I hate this new feature forced on me. I do not like using a finger to tap and interact with phone. It was never present until the update yesterday.

I don't know which software and which version you're referring to as "the update yesterday", but the pen icon has always been a feature with every S-pen device I've owned. It's quite inconspicuous, but if you don't want it in screenshots, you can move the pen away before taking the shot.

Go to set>advanced features>spen >turn off air actions or turn off air command actions

Thanks But... it does not.

This is only with OneUI 4.0 beta 2 with Oct security update.

All s pen features are off, except enabling s pen.

Your on andriod 12 beta so maybe this a bug ?

I am sure they are changing s pen feature(s) - but I don't think it's a "bug." I'd prefer if there was an on/off for the S Pen and/or the icon. It is very light gray so as inconspicuous as possible. But there and at times it does get in the way.

Maybe there is some need to disable the S Pen, conserve battery, prevent it being used at times.

I do think that icon should hide itself when taking screenshots.

Hahaha..i didn't get the s21, stop getting S series since my s10+ .

Seems is a bug. several have reported. Saw this in members app. You should report as well.

Mostly I use mine only at home. I have one on end table by my chair and one on night stand by bed and really use only then. I find I am a lot more accurate with keyboard using it, but that may be due to thick fingers..haha. If there was a way to carry then might would use more.

More precise input for doing tasks, i use screen off memo a lot to write down customers service request and phone numbers , doing so with a finger is not as accurate.

Ok, I tested by turning off air command and you are right when s-pen gets near screen the air command appears and when move away it disappears. I reported as a bug. I doubt they would have a toggle off and still have it come on when pen near.

Just remember it's beta so this stuff happens.
