S pen remote problems

Um...you're welcome? That was an unexpected consequence.

yes. when I toggled it on from the panel I vaguely remembered turning off that function in settings to see what it would affect but had forgotten all about it once my pup broke his leg.

I was trying to get rid of the large opaque screen that comes up with the s pen options and just have the s pen options display alone like it was several notes back - may have been the note 3 or 4. I remember being unhappy when we started getting a full screen overlay with the options.

S pen works on low energy bluetooth...dont need bluetooth to be active for it to work

I'm not sure that is completely true.

mustang7757 said that he couldn't get his S Pen to work with BT turned off and S Pen air actions turned on. Where as, mine worked fine with BT off and S Pen air actions on.

Like I asked previously, are there some differences between the different versions in how the S Pen works or connects?

Tested again , it is working with Bluetooth off , probably because air command was off at that moment ...I'm like doing this test 20 times lol

Well alrighty then. Mystery solved.

You would think the manual would mention this little tidbit. Like I said, I couldn't find any info about the S Pen air action toggle in my manual.

To be honest, me neither. I never thought about it until now. The last time I flew I had my Note 8. Turning on airplane mode wouldn't have been a problem.

Also to be honest. I don't turn on airplane mode when I'm flying, so...

Yeah , agree..
When I fly I don't even keep my phone on , fear of interfering with airplane communication even though they say it's ok once they reach altitude and cruising

@jeetu4444 You sir are correct.

So I solved my problem. If I turn on airplane mode (bluetooth off) and take out the pen (to write with or I forgot bluetooth was off), then reconnecting is a pain and takes several attempts.

If I open the air command setting and turn it back on before taking the lens out, it reconnects fine and I have no issues.

I was taking a lot of pics and getting really frustrated that every time I took it out and hit the button, nothing happened.

I'm not familiar with taking pictures using the s pen. could you briefly explain please? I usually just say capture, but it would be interesting to compare the experiences. thank you.

Samsung's camera app allows you to use the S Pen as a camera remote. You can even use it to change camera modes. For example:

Click and hold the S Pen button and then do the swipe up Air Gesture. That will put it into selfie mode. Compose your shot (smile real pretty) and then click the S Pen button. It'll snap a pic.

If you click and hold the S Pen button and swipe up, it puts you back into the rear camera mode.

Click and hold and swipe left or right will switch between the different camera modes (depends on what order you have them in).

Once you get to the camera mode you like, compose your shot, and click the S Pen button and it will snap a pic.

This is especially handy if you have your phone on a tripod and are in Night mode.

I'm sure there are some other things it can do, but those are ones I've learned how to do.
