S10 5G

The LTE speeds on the 5G are really good with the x24 modem. Big difference over the Pixel 3 XL with the x20. Getting over 150 mbps down on my S10 5G on LTE. My S10+ on AT&T is only pulling down 3 mbps or less on LTE. Nevertheless I have the OnePlus 7 Pro on order, it's coming Tuesday.

Is your 5g one on Verizon? If not then it's not 5G. AT&T 5G is just LTE with carrier aggregation (which T-Mobile and Verizon have been doing for awhile).

Actually AT&T 5G is really 5G, their 5Ge or "5G Evolution is the fake crap." His S10 5G is on Verizon but I don't think his area has 5G service yet.

They have real 5G service as well as the 5Ge crap. Just no handsets yet, S10 5G will be their first. They have hotspots that are real 5G now for businesses.

Doubt he has real 5G from AT&T. Especially with the quoted 150 Mbps speeds. That's LTE.

Read his post again. That's what he said - 150Mbs over LTE.

Thanks I did read it. Not sure why you thought I didn't. It's just he's implying the 5G phone is capable of something more when it isn't. Both can do the same thing his S10+ was just obviously not connected at the time of his test and maybe needed a airplane mode on/off.

Because you said - "Doubt he has real 5G from AT&T. Especially with the quoted 150 Mbps speeds. That's LTE."
He wasn't claiming to be connected to 5G at the time - he said LTE, so the speed had no relevance to whether or not he can get real 5G from AT&T. AT&T supposedly has 5G in some locations (not "5Ge"), he just might not be near any of those cities.

Yes hit he's claiming his 5G phone somehow can do more then his S10 and it can't... Unless on actual 5G.

That's my point. Their 5g is 5ge lol.
No, their 5G is 5G - their "5Ge" is LTE.
They have 5G in parts of 19 cities– Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Los Angeles , Louisville, Nashville, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Raleigh, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose and Waco.
They have "5Ge" (LTE) everywhere else.
It was colossally dumb, misleading, and sleazy for them to have started with that "5Ge" crap. They deserve the skepticism and ridicule (like your comments) that they get now from pulling that stunt. I just wanted to clear up confusion for others.

And he wasn't connected to 5G.. right? So my comments still stand

I was talking about my connections over LTE. Nothing about 5G. Verizon 5G is only available in a part of 2 cities. Notice I said x24 modem, which is a 4GLTE modem, not the x50, which is a 5G modem.

And I am also not in a 5G+ city for AT&T and there is only one hotspot that is compatible with that network anyway. 5G+ is really 5G, 5Ge is just AT&T with their amazing marketing skills to make their "amazing" LTE stand out.

FedEx delivered my S10 5G yesterday, this was unexpected because the day before they said the package was lost. I’m crazy with this phone, the large screen is fantastic and everything is fast fast fast, no lag. I always turn animations off in the developers options. The pictures, especially Live Focus with the portrait in color and the background black/white/ blurred – out of this world. Still have to try the night mode, curios about this. Love the ultra-wide angle lens. The flash does not work with this lens but I see why, it would not illuminate the full wide picture. This is not different on a professional camera you need an indirect/diffuser light/filter for ultra-wide shots.

I chose to do the activation thru Samsung, was very easy on their website, you just need your Verizon account credential, everything went without a problem. Did I mention how fast this phone is? I mean processing power, I have no way in telling about 5G speeds but this is not why I bought this phone. Every app starts in an instant, coming from the Note 9 (also a fantastic phone) the S10 5G is considerably faster.

Very happy camper here so far!

here is a picture I took toady at lunch with the S10 5G, I resized the picture afterwards:

I have the note 9 also. So you think it's worth the upgrade ? I was trying to hold out to see if the note 10 5G will be better

Having had both, I think you have 85% of the S10. The S10 is an incremental upgrade in a lot of ways but doesn't make your phone obsolete in anyway. Ultimately the upgrade comes down to personal decision. If you're a phone junky like me, GET IT. If you keep your phones for a while, I don't think you're missing a ton.

What's the cheapest Verizon package I can get that I can use this on, regardless if I can get 5G data or not? Can I put this on a new line month-month with the $55 plan?

Has anyone seen an alcantara case for the S10 5G???? I've had this type case for my last 4 phones and love them - but it seems Samsung is barely supporting this phone - very strange!!!!
