I'm returning my N20 Ultra and ordered an S20+ instead. Although the N20 U is great, i don't use the Spen enough to pay the difference and I can get $300 for a Pixel 3 with a cracked screen. Just wondering if it's going to be a step back. Thoughts?

I don't think so. It's a smaller screen but not that much smaller and main thing you would lose is S pen, sounds like you're ok with that.

If it wasn't for the fact that I broke my S20 ultra and received a check for a new phone, I would have stayed with the s20 ultra. There wasn't a huge step up to the note 20 ultra IMO.

I agree, if you'll not miss the S pen I don't think you'll notice much, if any, difference.

All the non-s pen features are coming g to the S20+ anyway and the updates are already rolling out. So i think you will be fine. The S20+ is only 6 months old which is nothing in technology stakes. Most companies only produce one flagship a year.

don't get a samsung first one I've ever got the s20+ exynos in UK one of the worse phones! very poor battery life, gets hot, poor focus camera. buy the oneplus 8 pro, or oppo x2 pro, or wait for pixel 5.

first and last Samsung coming from HTC 😑

The OP is asking about S20 verses Note 20. Not whether or not he should buy Samsung verses another brand.

Just bought S20. This way they've had time to improve software. Identify problems. Update manufacturing where needed.

I do same with Apple - new phone. New ios. Always problems for first 5 months.

I don't want a different brand. Thanks.

S20 or N20...just get the 1 with Snapdragon...if you need the S Pen then N20.if not S20 is the right choice.

There's very little difference between the 2 and they are both among the best phones available right now. I would'nt worry about it being a step back.

I was going to buy the Note 20 Ultra but ended up going for the S20+ instead (I'm in the UK so mine is the Exynos version)

The Note is a nice phone but I prefer the way the S20 is more rounded in the corners.

So far I'm really liking it. Battery life isn't as good as my previous iPhone 11 Pro Max but it lasts me the whole day so can't complain. Only thing I don't like is how hot it get's when gaming. It's only been a week so I will keep an eye on it and see how it does long term.

I came here to the S20 threads considering posting a question similar to this one except I'm coming from the S10+.

So my son got an S9 as a replacement for another phone after an insurance claim and it has been having issues almost since day one. Now however it's overheating on him, the battery is doing weird things and every week there seems to be another small thing. Sometimes they clear up sometimes he just has to work around them. In the meantime the way upgrades work in my family is I get something new and everyone upgrades to what the other had and the low person's old device finds a drawer.

As I mentioned I have the S10+, which is a great phone, no complaints but I don't want to replace his phone with just anything to fill the gap. So I've been considering giving him the S10 that I have and getting something else. I'm not a huge picture person so I don't see the issues with the S20's camera really being an issue for me but what about the phone in general? I'd probably be looking at the S20+ or Ultra in an unlocked US version. I hate to ask a subjective question but any thoughts or feelings about switching from the S10 to S20? Would it be better to wait and see what hits next year instead? Not sure what I'd do about my son if that was the advice but I'd rather honest blunt facts verses a try and see approach.

I figured who better to ask than a bunch of S20 owners, some of which I'm sure have owned the S10.

It's that inferior Exynos chip. The one in the S20/N20 series is the worst in years. I have one in my S10+ and it isn't great, but it is better than the 990 in the 20 series phones. So I wouldn't buy a Samsung from this series outside the USA. But for anyone in the USA the 20 series is a great set of phones.

It depends on size. The S20+ is going to be more the size of your S10+. The Ultra is absolutely huge. If cameras are not an issue for you then the only difference between the plus and the ultra is size.

Right now I would look at trading his s9 for the phone you getting. As long as it's not cracked and it powers on I'm sure it'll pass the inspection

The s20 line is still a worthy upgrade. You're not going to see night and day differences from the s10 series, but there are enough to justify getting your kid into your phone and you upgrading yours. Specialty now since you can get a decent trade in on it for it.

If you go the ultra route I would look at the note 20 TBH. It's cheaper then the s20 ultra with the trade in. The note 20 ultra is $899 and the s20 ultra is $1,049 after the trade in. The S20+ is $849. I probably would still go with the note 20 ultra over that for the $50 extra.

Edit.. This pricing is thru Samsung

I ended up returning my S20+ because the battery was so rubbish. I was determined to try and stick it out but just couldn't.
